Classic WoW + is something they are just overthinking too much. If they are thinking a TBC route, that isn't what is needed. Smaller updates are perfectly okay in my opinion, a dungeon here, a new smaller zone that can fill up gaps for quests where they are needed, new professions that spice up guild and solo play. If they do it properly, Classic WoW + would just be smaller patches that spice up older content a little. If they think too big, I think they will mess up.

They have loads of new zones they can use & modify to tell a story without the Cataclysm taking place. Add them in slowly with the Vanilla charms & headaches which give the game character. They can even pick & choose new races or classes to add. I think personally they need to take it slow & be very careful with what new additions work before any big expansions for Classic are introduced.

The best thing they could do to add some content to classic would be to fill in the zones that are missing from the original map. They could re-use much of the existing assets to make non-cataclysm’d versions of those zones. They could even add new story content about the rise of the Twilight’s Hammer cult and re-use much of the dungeon and raid assets, but this time we’re stopping them before the Cataclysm happens.

The point that having older, slower paced strategic combat without it being "solved" is a point that I think so many people underestimate. I've loved WotLK classic, but knowing going into it exactly what class balance will be, the optimal builds, etc makes things feel a bit more stale than they could. Having fresh content and balancing would be hugely impactful to me at least

You dont really know what class balance will be like though? Since classic wrath was released on the final balance patch its basically nothing like it was back in retail and the other thing that u can go off of are private servers and they are not reliable for very obvious reasons. I also highly doubt people use the exact same strats that people used back in the day. Im not saying that classic wrath is like a completely different game now than it used to be but it definitely is different, and i think u underestimate just how much stuff there is that isnt really solved. As an example people have basically no real idea as to what specs will be the best dps wise in Cata, and we really wont know for sure until it actually releases and we get to play, but i do get your point.

Also, in Brackenhide Hollow the Last boss says she's not done with us, but I don't think there is any mention of her in 10.2, so I bet she will return again in 11.0 on the new islands in another dungeon or maybe raid boss. Edit: Oh and we still have the questline for the 'Disc of Tyr' which supposedly show the aspects how to regain their powers, but the datamined spell says that the new world tree will give them or something, so that's interesting as well.

You pretty much answered yourself a likely reason why they did it. Most people don't have 3D printers, nor access to them, and it's not like they haven't monetized figurines for ages already plus they will continue to monetize that stuff at Blizzcon as per usual. They probably have a lot more figurines than that as well. So it ends up like a PR event, give away the schematics for free to the few people with 3D printers or access to them, let the event advertise them, and then sell the figurines including ones that weren't given away for free, to everyone else.

Azeroth not actually being a titan could be one explanation for why Hearthstone didn't use Azeroth in the most recent Hearthstone expansion "Titans," opting instead to make up new ones (They made up Amitus and turned V07TR0N into a titan rather than using Azeroth and Telogrus (the world soul Sargerus destroyed)). Though Azeroth not being a titan, or world souls not necessarily being titans, does seem like a rather large retcon.

Not only do they have "build your own class" but also a skill modify system which whole builds can change and be designed around, a roguelike system with random draws, and they're working on a complete class revamp with new classes based in lore. If these were brought in and polished it could make a fantastic WoW+ experience imo.

When it comes to WoW, honestly I'd be happy if they just adopted the freestyle thinking of the people who made the Ascension-version and plugged that as a new mode, donating dead servers to it. Classic+ should be: Make old gear relevant. Make it so you have storylines to upgrade those meaningful old gear pieces (even the unique dungeon pieces) into cooler stronger pieces. But don't make the power buff to significant. So don't overtune everything. This keeps the pre expansion game still relevant and not redundant. Create new dungeons entrances within every already existing zone in order to expand the world. Dont just create new zones like every expansion did/does. Just add in stuff at the edges of zones where there should be enough room to create. Add new materials and items to create from all of the alreadt existing crafting materials within the game in order to buff and add more crafting content. Boom there you go. Good luck Blizzard! I remember a blue Deathwing datamined some time ago for the 19th anniversary. I always wanted them to finish their homework. Imagine if they release the underground Azjol Nerub zone that we never got (and it's compatible with Classic and Retail, so you could add it to both SOMEHOW), or Farahlon from WoD and the ogre continent, the Neptulon raid from Cata, the Shattrath raid from WoD... The heritage orc quest had a lizard saying "mAyBE tHiS wIlL bE a fOrEsT aGAiN", the NE same thing cleansing the land. We know we are going to take Gilneas back, Lordaeron will become some type of sanctuary with some alliance/horde only areas I guess... yeah, my money is on the 2026 world revamp. I wish Blizzard would say: 2024 revamp to win us all back from the mess that Shadowland was... We need something big, something that makes us feel like Argus or even more. 700 people working on the game. Proletarian, what are you doing? I'm sure it is something big and I'm hyped.

I would really like to see the wild world be more interactive in a non NPC way. Things like sinkholes opening up, huge vine plants that can eat you which you can't attack, roaming groups of predatory animals hunting (which are much stronger than max level players), Tornados/water spouts, lava flows that happen and stay for days, etc. That kind of chaotic randomness would make questing a completely new experience compared to our standard mobs patrolling short circles with finite aggro ranges and us just mowing through every single quest mindlessly. My main issue with WoW right now is that it's supposed to be WORLD of warcraft and the world has become utterly irrelevant. Even in dragonflight they designed amazing landscapes but then let you fly over them at 750% speed and the world itself has no impact (no wind, waves, volcanic eruptions, etc Currently playing Turtle WoW and I can definitely say that they improvements they've made on it so far make the game feel a lot better, especially for neglected classes/specs and gearing.

Vanilla Classic is simply not twisted and adapted for digital goods to be sold the same way as retail has been over the years. In a way I'm kinda amazed they lasted so long to sell more transmog after the head pieces, but pets? Mounts? You don't even carry them on the bags and are shared on all characters in the account, the toy collection tab is also perfect for that alongside the transmog wardrobe, and that's how we were getting infinite storage so they can add whatever and sell more digital crap, idk man I would make these digital stores illegal in my country if I could, I'm tired of this greed that takes potential content out of games to put a price tag on shallow cosmetics that tend to be lots more fancy and straneous to the rest of the game

That's why we got gold for cash and cash for gold in the UI. That was how business was done on pre Activision WoW, but it was all done on ICQ. WoW makes all of its money on paid carrying, always has. Susan was spamming on beta, grey market gold straight up originated with the original WoW development team. Now that it is transparent and out in the air, everyone's soooo offended.

I enjoy playing, classic from time to time. It’s a fun distraction. I would definitely be interested a lot more if they had a classic plus version with new things to do but in the old style of the game. Almost like a what if scenario. One of the biggest things I miss while playing classic versus modern wow is the transmogrification system. I hate collecting things that I know will never be saved in my appearances. So yeah, I think if they made a classic wow with transmog’s and new things to do but in the vein of the original game, I’d be in all hands.

Every MMORPG player probably heard about MMORPG Game called Aion, published by NC Soft. Over time, their updates become more weirder and weirder, and finally new update stopped satisfying players. Probably following Blizzard's footsteps, NC Soft also released a Classic version of Aion and, interestingly, they turned it into a kind of multiverse, they went a completely different updates route than the original game and with a certain update they started adding completely new, never-before-seen things, such as completely new maps and even new classes.

I think Dragonflight really pushes the idea that Order magic is just another form of corruption, just like fel. To Vyrinoth it probably wouldn't have made a difference if Alextraza bathed the dragon eggs with fel magic instead of order magic. She probably finds them equally bad. The dragon aspects might have been tricked by the Titans exactly how the draenei have been tricked by Sargeras. We just think the Titans as the good guys because we as the player base have been influenced by their propaganda.

I think whats south of the clearly tropical south ends of the world. we don't have a south pole. if we are making the world bigger it makes perfect sense to go south and you can easily make it 2x larger

Much of Vanilla WoW's slower paced gameplay was also lost by the players changing, not just by changes to WoW by the devs. Classic WoW was fun and there were people from back in the day playing again but not for long. "Endgame" is was a rush and many people were just ticking check boxes of the BiS lists they found online, something that didn't exist or was rare and not commonly known back in the day. I really enjoyed Turtle WoW's smaller (HC) community before the server population exploded as it felt a bit like back in the day, maybe even better with people sharing gear they didn't need. Thing is, even Vanilla WoW'S community at the end wasn't the same as at the beginning anymore. Btw, It always triggers me when I see supposed Night Elf NPCs like the Warden using Blood Elf models and animations.

But I’ve got something to add, blizzard could easily Cashion on the classic series again and they’ve completely missed a great opportunity instead of just having players go back and fulfil their nostalgia for the old game, why not instead crates and release the old expansions, but an alternate stories, all this talk about the time ways and alternate timelines. Why not release classic Warcraft but instead of thrall being rescued and becoming the green Jesus, that he is a bloodthirsty war chief. Easy not to kill the magic with classic +. No new level cap, new quests, dungeons, raids, reps. More stuff in underdeveloped zones, rework to less popular specs. All in the spirit of classic.

Sandbox vs theme park isn't really a thing. It's more like correct vs incorrect content balancing. The devil is in the details. All that really splits the two concepts is balance minutiae. When someone says sand box MMO, it may evoke the concept of freedom and choice. When someone says theme park MMO, it may invoke a sort of structured series of locations that you are guided through. It is pretty trivial to turn a theme park MMO into a sandbox and it is also very trivial to add a theme park ride to a sandbox MMO. Both things have been done with extreme success. These things aren't really mutually exclusive. Just as an example, here's a path to sandbox-hood for WoW retail. Retire time walking, replace with world tiers. That's the whole process.

Personally if they did a classic + I'd say start from vanilla and work your way back up to wrath again with twist and turns along the way kind of like an altered time line. Can keep the same fundamental building blocks but let history play out a little different. Some new bosses in the raids with new mechanics maybe a new raid or instance here and there. Different class turning and balance. Keep the old school feel but expand. Hell if they did it right they could almost play it out seasonally over 5-6 years. How would the world look if "x" person came to power over that part of the timeline or if "x" bad guy came after the world a bit early. Idea I had to help with group making was adventure halls with mission boards. Think the dailies in tbc but with a massive list of quest and instead of making them daily per character you make them post randomly every few mins and the quickest groups pick them up. Maybe have people gain an adventure score so you can't just take every mission then fail to put together a group. Have the missions be anything from do a little farming in elite areas to finding something in an instances or even gathering crafting materials.

Releasing the next expansion at BlizzCon doesn't make any sense, we have no real idea of how Dragonflight ends, unless 10.2 is the last patch of the expansion which seems unlikely. How are they going to announce 11.0 without spoiling the rest of the story of DF and (potentially) 10.3?

I'm of the honest opinion that I think the new home being a whole other world tree makes sense when you consider the emotional narrative being written for Tyrande. She's tired of war, tired of her people being a victim to the Horde. They lost so much in Kalimdor and Hyjal is legitmately neighboring above the Horde's main capitol meaning that they're surrounded by Horde supply chains constantly. Whereas, now, the Kaldorei have found their kinship again in the Emerald Dragonflight, and that of the Dream, rebuilding themselves closer to the rest of the Alliance, and if we retake Gilneas, they'll both be within response range to defend each other, perhaps seeing the Kaldorei forces work alongside the Gilneans to defend Gilneas from the ever present Forsaken in Lordaeron. Geographically, it could bring interesting new stories with these factions having to learn to coexist closer to one another and reenforce their kindoms as the Alliance, leaving room for the Horde to expand with their allied races across Kalimdor. Again, this might mean seeing new settlements pop up to bolster Orgrimmar and to expand on the journey with the races we unlocked. This could also mean that, well, the Kaldorei can be safeguarded while they also have their own factions still patroling their old grounds in Kalimdor to preserve what was originally theirs, and as stated by the questline, to cleanse those lands. Again, those lands are hostile to anyone for the time being so its better to lick one's wounds where there's allies within reach to watch your back and be able to focus on strategically reclaiming the old lands.

They lived in Stormwind for YEARS and DIDN'T teach Humans Druidism? And now the best patch to do it in is passing us by. I just want to be a Human druid that isn't a large unit or a furry. Stormwind humans are the only Humans that cannot be Druids.

It's crazy to me that the park district of Stormwind was around for years holding at it's centre a small grove of Druids and the Stormwind Humans learnt...nothing. Then they hold Nightelven and even their cousins as refugees for years again and learn...nothing. If some Nightelves truly felt as if their race was dying wouldn't they want to pass on their knowledge to the dominant race and maybe steer them on a better path? Man, would 10.2 be the best chance of that, maybe 10.2.5.

Oh man, I wish they announced wow rework/wow 2. I don't know why but I really want retail to be good again. Also, it would be nice if they get rid of addos or limit them hard (allow WA to stay for example). Just my thoughts.

Addons have been reduced in usefullness by building in thier functions in the game itself some or making some not function, but I dont recommend banning or blocking more addons. People are downloading and using certain addons for good reasons, and would not play WoW without them, most notebly assesability addons ment to aid the handcapped. Players enjoy customizing their UI more than playing with the fancy new talent trees, let them play with addons so at least they are playing, cant afford to lose more players at this point.

Classic+ concept: Phase change in the Lich King fight where Arthas is going to revive everyone results in Arthas Succeeding, & the phase change is everyone fighting Tirion. Upon beating Tirion a new cutscene plays revealing the alternative ending hinting at the expansion taking Catas place.

I can really dig a warcraft soft relaunch imagine the same thing as OSRS but trying to not ruin the narative like (they did in retail after legion) they could explore other things. Also honestly classic wow even tho I personally didn't play it when it originally launched in 2004 it is a great game and I enjoyed it more then retail. I also enjoyed the game more when I was a random adventurer not a HERO CHOSEN OF AZEROTH BESTOFMYCLASS but that might just be me I could relate to a random adventurer more then my mega chad current char.

We have had the Cataclysm destruction in WoW longer than we had the original world, I would argue it is more than old enough. But I still get what you mean, it's not "old" in the design sense, it streamlined the game a lot and simplified many others, but I would argue that Cataclysm Classic would be... ok, basically an ok thing, but much better if we also get a world revamp in Retail, that would make it round and sound to me.
