I just realized that the Molten Core OST also originates from the original 1999 Trailer of Warcraft 3. So many amazing songs in WoW were actually from WC3 it's insane.

@@AndrevusWhitetail WoW owes its world as a whole to Warcraft 3. If not for it, it wouldnt have such story background and varied world. If it was just based of say Warcraft 2 which was painfully basic in comparison. Funnily enough WoW started development shortly after it and was at first just a mild modification of Wc3's engine. Sadly its also why so many things are at odds with what Warcraft 3 setup, mostly because they had basic idea of just forcing everything into bad and good guys just like Warcraft 1 and 2, hence stupid stuff like NIght elves being in alliance or forsaken in the horde got cemented long before story actually was finished for Warcraft 3. Which is for the worse tbh because it reduced potential of wow massively and actively makes no sense in regard of what happens in warcraft 3 at times...

Absolutely no need to touch this gem. This video does absolute justice to the game especially considering the custom maps and the community that took this game and elevated it to a unique experience that can never be overdone. Inspired an armada of modern games and genres were born inside this game. The people responsible for the warcraft 3 editor and trigger system are the single biggest contributors to the gaming history. Without this game gaming would not be the same today. RIP garena and other wc3 servers, it was an absolute pleasure to be part of these wars and so glad that I have contributed my share of maps, Mete on epicwar. Spellblast, sim city wars, terror arena, Mete TD the hardest TD ever existed.

Warcraft 3 was originally supposed to come out in late 2001 but Blizzard moved it to mid-2002 thanks to 9/11 and perhaps wanting to make the game better.

The trailer did not spoil anything, as trailers should. I wonder if they tried to keep the existence of two new playable races a secret, or it was known before the release that there would be two extra factions?

We did know about them just before the release ... but even though daemons were not "new" and we knew about the Night Elves, we had no idea they would be a whole new race, or that the two factions would be as detailed as they were. Everyone was blown away!

Who in 2009 really still believed there will be Warcraft 4? No, there was no chance for that, people in charge of the RTS games for Blizzard were working on StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty till summer 2010 and after Wow Classic and TBC all hopes for Warcraft RTS died because the MMO was now continuing the story of Illidan and Arthas. The only people who believed in Warcraft 4 in 2009 were delusional.

@@Altermerea Some people had hope because the story was starting to be left with elements that most thought implausible for confronting in a mmorpg, like defeating the burning legion for good and more/greater threats beyond that. May have been better for the narrative too, considering the bastardising that Bfa and shadowlands represent.
