No,.I think it grows by upgrading your barracks.

When I try to play version 4.17 against bots, first the entire map is revealed, and then all the buildings explode. Do you know why this happens? I can't play it.

Probably a hacked version (or the game reads you as a cheater somehow), so I recommend getting a new version asap. ;)

Officially its played through battle.net indeed. Some players play it through other means, like gameranger. I usually play on the latest version, which is 4.17, but a new patch will arrive soon.
