I like these orcish made up stories. Yet the truth of what happenned in RL and what will happen is even more exciting! The King of Humanity was crucified. His blood was shed so we could be redeemed of our sins. More info on that: read the gospels (Mark, John, Luke & Matthew's). The good news is: He is Alive and broke the power of death forever. He is Lord at the right hand of the Living God (Revelation) and will return soon to judge the fate of Humankind. "Seek the Lord while He can be found; call upon Him while He is near (...)" People seem to forget that Maraad lived on draenor, when the orcs attacked them. When the orcs started attacking they left, and crashed on Azeroth. So he would know the stories about orcs. I just watched the original ‘Conan the Barbarian’ with Arnold Swarczenegger, and the scene where they tie up Gromm is almost exactly taken from that. The difference is that in Conan, he is being crucified, meaning his palms are nailed to the tree. Also Conan doesn’t bite the main bad guy, but bites the throat of a vulture who is trying to eat him. Conan is later rescued by one of his comrades, and nursed back to life by a wizard.

+FixxxeR208 stop saying that as if its a proven fact... its not.. i havent found any sources of hard evidence suggesting that the orcs are supposed to reflect the norse. the only thing i found is a forum where one guy interpets it to be this way, in which many disagree. so i have no clue where you are taking this from. besides, a large portion of Tolkiens fantasy is directly inspired of hermanic and especially norse mythology. his first book the Hobbit, took heavy inspiration of the story "Beowulf". and both elves and dwarves are directly taken from norse mythology. Orcs are based of the folkloric creature goblins (which is used synonymously to the term "orc" in the books). Sauron/saruman and the orcs symbolized industrilization which Tolkien was very criticial towards. now why would he associate industrialization with vikings?that does not make much sense to me at all. honestly, claiming that orcs are ment to reflect vikings is quite a stretch and really doesnt add up with his works

It's only really when mannoroth is shoving more bloody goodness in his face against the unstoppable cenarius does it become too much... Also the duel of will in the story could very well have existed in some sort of small form (unless the story specifically states that he invented it and no other orcs ever use it... I actually got the impression that Makgorah (is that how it is spelt) would be considered very rare and / or improper for a draenor orc clan pre-taint... due to them being protrayed as volatile and vibrant and hostile but more in the sense of competition and small rivalry rather than outright war against one another... with this in mind there is no reason the duel of will did not exist in normal time line, rather no one had decided to write about it and therefore this is the first time it is specifically shown. It is interesting that for such a larger than life character it is only now that Blizzard and truly fleshing out who Grom is; as before he was always supporting the main players in the story. Thrall et al. We knew he was violent, we knew he was ferocious and had a lot of control on himself... we never saw him with a mate we only knew he had a son, and even then it was only known when TBC came out (wonder if that was always going to be???) We know very little about who the Warsong were, in fact we really know nothing except that in Rise of the Horde (another book where Grom (being a major big name) is hardly seen at all) he drinks the blood first and is known as a badass... lol Duel of will could easily have been a thing, how much more perhaps would Grom have hated himself had he had a newborn to look after who reminded him always of the mate who died... Will power perhaps to want to never lose anything precious again. Differences aside though... who cares... its awesome and hopefully WOD will be too :D
@Caedus69610 жыл бұрын
Ben Gough I simply brought it up because garrosh had no idea what a duel of will was and had to ask if it was like Mak'gora. So if Garrosh has no clue what it was then presumably it was not a thing in our timeline, and Garrosh would have more knowledge than most since so many that suffered from the Pox were together, not just one clan.
@MrBVS7410 жыл бұрын
Nicholas Cannaday As Ben said before me, there's no reason to believe that Mak'Roghan didn't exist in our timeline. It is very possible that it was a pre-corruption Warsong tradition, or that it was simply a lost tradition after so many members of the Warsong Clan died between the First and Third Wars.

If maraad is getting killed off early in questing, why is he being used here? He's basically a nobody you are trying to develop, but then kill him off in the middle of the third questing zone when he gets no in-game development. Seems idiotic.

What about all the legendary heroes that WE murder? Arthas, Illidan, Fordragon and soon Grommash. Blizzard likes killing off heroes.
@kabrozkabroz9 жыл бұрын
***** You're correct in your points but it still doesn't disprove what he's saying. These people were all driven to this point by circumstances beyond their control. The ones most accountable are Arthas and Grom, who both did essentially the same exact thing, just themed to either undead or demons respectively. Now then, Illidan on the other hand, the things he did were misguided, but everything he did (the vials of eternity, Mount Hyjal's world tree, becoming a demon) He did for the sake of power, but also for the sake of his people. The Skull of Gul'dan appealed to him, yes, he liked having the power, but the fact remains that he still did what he had to in order to slay Tichondrius (or at least temporarily incapacitate him) He essentially did what every other demon hunter does. All demon hunters have an agenda, and to fulfill that agenda (I.E. stopping the legion and it's minions) they do what they can to gain more power even at the cost of their reputation. They are essentially Martyrs for their people. However, they do not WANT to be shunned. They WANT to end the legions corruption. Taking on the powers of a demon to do so is just a means to an end. Now, yes, Illidan liked power, but the only reason he was driven mad is because he was locked away for 10,000 years and was forever shunned by his people even after he saved them and their immortality. I seriously hope that when they said they would "Bring Illidan back" they didn't mean the well of eternity dungeon.

That was amazing! sometimes though I wonder if Maraad is here to help Varian or just to scare him even more, like an adult trolling a kid with spooky stories. At any moment I could imagine Maraad burst into laugh and say "I'm just kidding they're lame, our max level was 30 back in the day, you should have seen your face, my king"

Grommash being tied to a tree and left to waste away is a fine telling of why he was originally a much slimmer orc, but in the WoD cinematic, he's really quite bulky. Is that just inconsistency, or am I missing something?
@felmaster353410 жыл бұрын
This is our Grom, not the WoD one. Maraad hadn't gone to alternate Draenor yet, so he can only be talking about our Grom. And as was shown in the latest short story Hellscream, Kairoz had picked a universe purposefully for certain changes. I guess Grom becoming bulky again was just one of these changes, alongside Garrosh not being born in the alternate timeline or Rulkan surviving.
@StoicForce10 жыл бұрын
Daniel Wells Ah, my apologies. I haven't actually read the short Hellscream story, yet. Thanks.

He is talking about WoD grom though because his mate did not die in an ogre raid within our timeline.

Maraad could only be talking about our Grom. He hasn't been to alternate Draenor yet, and doesn't know of any differences.

Can someone explain one thing to me? If i remember Rise of The Horde right, the orcs were peaceful before the demons came. When did this take place? Did the war against the Ogres happens and then they settled back down after? (assuming of course that this is the main world, which wouldn't make sense unless this is alternate Maraad)
@felmaster353410 жыл бұрын
The orcs were peaceful, but the Ogres still had an empire and they clashed occasionally, but not often enough and not greatly enough to call it a war. I think they can be named "bad run-ins."
@myunghoseo327310 жыл бұрын
The term "peaceful" can be applied broadly. There can always be scrapping here and there for resources, and this would reflect the Orcs raiding Ogres, and Ogres raiding Orcs in return in a cycle.
@loljustice3110 жыл бұрын
That's a good point, that had always sort of confused me. In present-day Nagrand, the orcs are very peaceful (the mag'har descend from the Warsong clan, don't they?). In the orc creation screen, it refers to the orcs as having been peaceful. But everything about WoD makes them look like they were ruthless and brutal. I thought they were the sort of people who were peaceful but acted brutally if the situation required it, like against enemies. But go figure...
@myunghoseo327310 жыл бұрын
I also have a feeling, that Ogres have been ancestral enemies of the Orcs. As Kargath's intro had revealed, Ogres have taken Orcs as slaves, probably because Ogres are even stronger than Orcs.
@LRoeser10 жыл бұрын
Far as i could tell, "peaceful" is kind of an overstatement. As Myung Ho Seo said, while they didn't go around rampaging like started to later, they did fight, mostly against the ogres but also occasionaly amongst themselves. Which is why the formation of the Horde was a big deal, the clans didn't generally cooperate before that.

From Hellscream short story: "Garrosh knew this story. The death of his mother, the rebirth of the Warsong clan, the beginning of Hellscream's legend. "That's when you lost your mate, yes? A hard thing, to see family die in battle."" So the event is the same, only that in AU Draenor Golka never gives birth to Garrosh. So Maraad is totally ok for knowing all this.

I am going to say something that has not been mentiond, I LOVE THE OGRES IN THIS UNIVERSE, the azeroth ogres are just dumb dimwitted unintellectuals who pound dirt. these ogres had a strong culture and lineage that i have grown to respect through these videos. i almost wish the ogres could join a faction, The level of intelligence is rather impressive and i would be proud to fight along side one of these ogres
