From an appliance guys view, we never ran the gasoline w/o the range there because we ran into issues with trying to guess where to place the valve. If we had no choice but to do it w/o the range a usually safe place was 10-11 inches in from either corner. This would usually allow for the range to set against the wall. I feel your pain for getting it across a finished basement ceiling. Never fun. Great video!

I had a plumber come out and run a gas line to my dryer. There was confusion involved and he installed flex. A year later I had a different plumber install hard gas pipe. Never was a fan of flex gas line. It works if ur in a pinch. But there is no way I'd allow that in my house. U swing a hammer anywhere near it u got a problem. Just my personal preference
@bullmoosepiper77323 жыл бұрын
I'm not a fan of the CSST either. I use it, but it really boils down to cost. Does the customer want to pay the money to run black iron pipe or not? Most don't. Like most things in life, convenience and reduced cost of install is what most installers and customers will go with. Unless there's a consumer like you that demands black iron instead of CSST, 90% of the time you're getting CSST unless it's an old school plumber who doesn't use it.

Obviously weekend warriors are crammed full of skilled BS. I sympathize with you in tolerating the skilled homeowner in general. I am a skilled professional, skilled as a jack of all trades 72 years long in the tooth. I am in the process of installing a gas line to my kitchen from my existing gas tie ins in my attic approximately 25' from my kitchen wall drop down from my attic furnace. I know what I need and I know what I want and I know how to do it. I appreciate the fact that you are a skilled craftsman with a God given talent to separate the, how too guessers from the how too knowers. There is a big difference! I see from reading a few of your commenting "Guessers" you have challenged the wisdom of the common homeowner to make a simple choice. "Do you want to tackle the job yourself or get a professional craftsman to do the job right the first time according to the local building codes"/ Good question! I was impressed with what you went through to do it right the first time. No holds barred and never say die in the face of the weekend warriors! Do the right thing! Good video!

Yeah I definitely understand. It’s easy to find a critic.. but I will never put the supply right in the corner of the cabinet base...and I will trace back to a larger supply.. it seems like an attached unit and I understand that they probably don’t have much larger gas supply available.. but I always bring all furnaces 1” minimum.. and a gas cock isn’t an acceptable shut off on the run. Only for termination points. Use full port ball valve only.. I apologize but I understand and respect that heating guy’s are doing hvac but not necessarily plumbing wise... I suggest getting a ridged 300 for gas work and stay away from flexible gas lines because 1 drywall screw is all it’s going to take to create a disaster.. but thanks for sharing this message here.. making me feel better about what I can do... I would definitely liked to have seen the gas meter for two reasons. Check for bonding wire for CSST tubing & size of gas pipe at the meter. I doubt he sized the piping correctly without knowing all the loads on the existing system. Also obviously did the job with no permits or inspections. Any alterations to gas piping must be pressure tested to 15 PSI & a riser diagram submitted for proper sizing to the local administrative authority

Make long distance calls? I'm about 1200 miles from you, in Canada. Reason is that I seem to have become invisible to contractors. I contacted one local company, who installed my gas furnace, over 3 times to come out to run a line to my new gas range. Last I saw him, he said be would be over 'next monday'. Silly me, I didn't ask which month or year (it is now 3 months, still waiting, no answer on the phone). Next contractor said 'I need a some time for outside work before ground freeze', that was 11 weeks ago. I'm now thinking of just buying a new electric range (the kitchen is wired for one in the same spot) and give that brand new, unused gas range to some needy person!

Do you have one on making a tie in to a fire place? Also I would like to congratulate you on your SNOOPING skills. For the most part in hiring help as needed, the first thing I wanted to know from a new hire is, " How would you snoop a line for leaks"? If he answered correctly, I considered hiring he or she. If not, I simply scratched my left ear and said, I will let you know soon. I'll call you! I will be honest with you. As long as I follow your skilled videos, I will express my points of view. The first time I see you in trouble, I might even make a suggestion or two! No offence intended! I tried to find your name, even on Amazon.
