I love your wardrobe. we think alike for I only wear black, white and gray. Those have been my colors for at least 30 years. And I live and breathe tee shirts. Everything is linen or cotton. I keep watching this episode at least once a week as motivation to clean out my closet. I work with children on the autism spectrum and with significant behavioral issues. My work clothes get abused when I'm dealing with a child exploding from big, uncontrollable emotions. So I don't need fancy clothes for work like I did when I worked in an office for many years. Every week when I watch this particular video, I pull out 1 or 2 items that I haven't worn in the past year and pass them on to someone else or donate to a charity shop. I've already gotten rid of so many of my heavy coats since I moving down to annoyingly hot southern California from chilly San Francisco. I too tend to buy multiple tshirts in different colors (black, grey, dark red and blues) to go with plain black yoga pants (I need non restrictive clothing to chase after a child who's trying to run away from school grounds). My goal is to have work clothes of tshirts, yoga pants and some sweaters to make it less casual, then have weekend clothes of jeans, nicer tshirts, lounge clothes for home, hiking/camping clothes and 2 or 3 different dinner out/date night outfits with pieces that interchange with each other. I'm not a big shoe person but you made me realize that to keep my shoes simple and just buy what I already know works versus the latest trend.

I love a simple wardrobe too. I tend to get hand me downs from my older sister so I wear those but my wardrobe used to always be black, white and beige with the odd purple item. I love purple. You have a great style and look for the same comfiness and softness. I have fibromyalgia and somedays clothes hurt so I'm always looking for natural and very soft. Be well.

So soothing. I have gotten to 3 “colors”-black, gray and a touch of white. EVERYTHING goes together and I never tire of it. No one knows how much I have because no one CARES! And if they do, well, I defy them to tell me when I wore the same outfit! I have so many options and swaps! I keep my black items perfect by washing by hand in COLD water and very little soap after 2-3 wearings. I hang to dry. The lack of stress keeps things perfect. I had to wear black for work and had the same 3 pants and 5-6 shirts for 15 years with no fading and degrading of fabric. I still have them all… but now I wear yoga pants in black most of the time because I stopped working. ..and my other gray and white items are getting more play time. I recently bought a new white tee and feel so decadent! 😂 I love your channel.

If you’re looking to downsize your wardrobe, I found that the Stylebook app works great for me. You can catalog your clothes (I download similar images from Google instead of taking pictures of my own clothes) Then you can make various looks with them. This helps you think of outfits you might not think of just by having them hanging in the closet. I stopped buying items that look similar because I could check my closet when I went out shopping. Plus it has a calendar, so if you log your clothes it shows stats of what you wear the least and most. Anyway, I hope it helps someone else too.

I feel like I’ve found “my people”. I’ve always loved black, white and grey. Back in the Saturday Night Live comedy days I had a friend who used to call me a “sprocket”. If you’ve ever seen The Sprockets on SNL you’ll know what I’m referring to. If you haven’t seen it, they dressed all in black. I’m in my mid-60’s and I’ve stopped colouring my hair so it’s now completely white - the black, white and grey palette suits me. Easy to put outfits together and I always feel comfortable. Silver jewelry, albeit minimal, rounds things out. I’ve never been a fashion maven; I’m built for comfort!

Your videos are so calming to watch Benita. I love the idea of a capsule wardrobe and am fascinated to see how people put them together! Personally I love colour and prints, but if i was restricted to a few items I would choose a pair of indigo boot cut jeans, a pair of navy wide leg jersey trousers, Skechers, a few good quality white and navy tshirts and a couple of pretty floral scarves. I would also add a dress in the swing shift style you show here. A waterproof rain coat, a quilted one for winter and my trusty navy tote and cross body bag. I also like to keep my jewellery minimal- simple stud earrings, a classic watch and a few pretty bead bracelets. I also operate 'one in one out' for each new item in my closet 🤗

Our closets look similar! I only wear black..with some gray and tiny bit of white. Make shopping easy and everything goes together. When I was working I had to wear all black so I built on this snd mow I have enough for every day. My secret to making black stay black and PERFECT: hand wash in cold and hang to dry. This sounds like work but after years of doing this it takes minutes every few days and saves your clothes and $$. I put some gentle cleanser in the sink with cold water.. let things soak while I shower..then rinse in cold and hang in the shower to dry. I usually only have a top and pair of pants, so no problem. I wear each item 2 or more times before washing and I hang to air out after each wearing. This also forces me to alternate items frequently. After 15 years work, I still have pants and shirts that look perfect with no fade. If you have a normal life you can care for your black things and keep them gorgeous. Don’t waste money- buy the best you can afford. But I do have a few “cheaper” items I treat the same and they are like new. Of course I wash all other household items in washer…and pj’s. But all my daily clothes (which are black) are hand wash cold only, drip dry. 🎉

My wardrobe idea is similar, I tend to stick to black, grey and white.I find black and grey always looks polished and ‘put together’. I have the odd coloured top in blue or green or pink. But grey is such a good ‘mixer’ colour, ie it goes with everything.

I am the same way...and I am considered tall (5'7) and slender so yes not everything looks good on me and tbh I hate fashion. I like to be clean and as simple as possible and finding clothes for myself is very difficult. I hate prints if i ever find something i actually like and fits right yes I will get it in black white and beige...and Im done. I work at jobs that rewuire uniforms so it reduces my need for a bigger wardrobe. Thank you for sharing...finally someone with my sense of style 💜

Hi Benita, another great video, thank you. I change my wardrobe over in the fall and in the spring - I must admit though, I have many more pieces than you do (and colour)! In the winter I love to wear cords instead of denim jeans, I find them cosier. I'm a uniform dresser too - jeans/cords/linen pants (depending on season) and sweaters/t-shirts/shirtsses (I don't mind ironing!). I love your black dress, it looks great on you.

I was looking for a capsule wardrobe from a country with seasons, even though this winter was very mild we do get that occasional -20 degrees celsius. I have almost similar old men's black leather shoes I bought from a charity shop, they were made in Italy. Having them resoled cost three times the price of those shoes (still making them under 30€ purchase) but the cobbler told me they were great quality shoes that will last for a long time if taken good care of.
