I appreciate so much the effort at repro here---to say nothing about your superb review. I'm not surprised that the cotton thread gave way. That's why makers switched to cotton/poly threads pretty much as soon as that was available. I admit to preferring the more durable features of such denim "innovations." ( Poly/cotton thread became widespread post-1955.) Re: the fades, in comparison Iron Heart does something to the fabric or dye (they aren't telling) that arrests fading, though you'd hardly know it from guys who manage serious fades. Most of my life outside the house (not much, by design) favors a slightly more formal look so I'm usually working to slow fades. (BtW, your repairs added character.) The overall look is great and this report and comparison is stellar. Thanks a million.

As always, I much appreciate your insights and feedback! This pair has for sure caused me to appreciate the wonders of modern innovation, like poly thread 😄 Also, I’m learning patience, like you veteran heritage folks have. This paired made me realize that while fades get the review clicks and likes and comments, the jeans are stunning all by themselves. I’m learning to be proud to wear them raw as well as faded, like you. Each stage is a joy.

They are definitely the fit and cut id go for. Just the perfect fit of Jeans for men above 30.

Well said- yes, after 30, a more classic aesthetic typically floats better (also I think it’s way more comfortable than slim cut pants 😆)

Good info with towels in the leg. Line on jeans or other fabrics that bleed can even come from centrifuge cycle in washing machine.

Quite true, the modern washing machine has ruined the fades on many a pair of raw denim 😄

They held the indigo pretty well for 24 washes. Especially for warehouse
@thevintagefuture6567
@thevintagefuture6567 4 ай бұрын
Yeah, I think the cold delicate cycle on my machine must be pretty much a mild soak? Cuz it seems to have slow affect on all my pairs….I also have a theory that washes don’t take out quite as much indigo as people think. But admittedly I’m still fairly inexperienced with raw denim compared to people who have been in the hobby for like 15 years.

Extremely helpful review, thank you man. As someone who is exactly between this and the SC 1947 and the WH 1001, how would you compare the fit? And how did you go about sizing the 1001? I’ve never done an unsanforized/unwashed so I was leaning 1947 until I saw this video!

Consider some people dont care about fades. The value of owning a ton of cool jeans comes from the variety of fits potential.

This is absolutely true! I guess I was just assuming that if you’re buying raw denim it’s cuz of the fades, but that isn’t necessarily true for each person, you’re right. It could be the luxury factor.

Quik math: 150 days worn, first wash after 20 days, leaves us with 130 days. 130 divided by 23 equals a wash every 5.65 days/wears. You washed those jeans OFTEN!

Yeah it’s a lot 😄😂 With 4 kids and a dog, and an active lifestyle/house projects, it doesn’t take long for them to get dirty enough that I feel they need washing.

@@thevintagefuture6567 exactly, when I have to clean the yard, 4 hours of work will turn my jeans green and brown. With office work I’m sure I could wear my jeans 6 months without a wash. Hey congrats on having 4 kids, that is a lot of work but it’s worth it!

WRT to cuffing , I feel every one is looking the same. Gotta have your iron rangers, gotta have your cuff, frankly it’s boring. I’m back to properly hemmed jeans.
@thevintagefuture6567
@thevintagefuture6567 4 ай бұрын
Yeah it does get old after a while, like anything. I do love a good hemmed pair; three of my pairs are hemmed like that…..That said, on the other hand cuffing with iron rangers etc is still very different from what most other people outside the hobby are wearing.
