This is the best Heritage menswear channel. Nick at Stridewise is close but his format doesn’t allow him to go into extreme detail like you.

@amBullseye I actually like Nick a lot 😂 And I think he usually knows his stuff and wears his things?🤔 But I haven’t watched all his videos🤷🏽‍♂️….I think the main difference is just the intrinsic differences between a big pro level channel (it’s Nick’s livelihood) vs a hobbyist channel like mine where I can do and say whatever the heck I want and don’t particularly have to care about the algorithm 😄

Finally, a proper jean review with a majority of the footage being pictures and clips of the damn jeans itself, and not some awkward closeup of a dude's face I give no sh*ts about for 20 minutes. Great work, very refreshing that you chose to go for the washed look, compared to chasing the fades.

Yeah they’re great! I highly recommend them! Best to get through Blue Owl, but I think you could get from NnF and just ask them to measure your specific pair before sending. Lots of fun switching it up with a different shade of indigo.

Love the review david! I almost stopped wearing N&F because they didnt have any fits i liked, i now own 3 pairs of true guys, they are awesome! I love you high up the back pockets sit too, a real nice detail to go along with the classic fit. Keep up the great work 👍

Thanks Justyn! Always good to hear from you. Cool that you got 3 of these; I’m definitely considering adding a second pair of these, maybe next year when the Warehouses go out for repair. I should have mentioned back pocket placement; I meant to but forgot. You’re so right about that- the higher placement is very nice, looks good, and keeps things out of the way when you sit down. Glad you enjoyed the review. Have a great week!

Thanks! Always good to hear from you….And I love how you’ve incorporated denim (specifically Oni SD) into your conglomerate of Ivyish style. I think lighter denim like that works well for that. There was some Blackhorse denim that looked good for that too.

fantastic pair, i’m still trying to navigate the value of a pair of denim like this. It seems like it took so much work to get to such a beautiful piece, but now I wonder how much longer it will last given all the wear and tear it’s been on.

This point you're making is so on point. I need to do a video about this. I've recently realized the value of pre-faded denim, in that it can be enjoyed with that look when in new condition, whereas with raw denim you only get to enjoy the faded look when it's falling apart....With this pair I have, they have tons of life left in them, so I'm happy with them, but with many other pairs it is not the case. I definitely think poly thread and thicker denim material are a must with raw denim. Maybe even lighter starting color is a must.

I've been thinking about getting this exact pair and fit as my first N&F purchase. I love the brand along with Tate & Yoko and Wonder Looper, but haven't bought anything yet. It's amazing how different they look in different lighting.

Nice! You should! I’ve tried other brands in that tier (their Unbranded line, Bravestar etc), and the NnF True Guy is where it’s at, much better than the other patterns in that price tier! If possible get through Blue Owl for more accurate measurements.

@@thevintagefuture6567 Yeah, that's huge that Blue Owl remeasures. Good for comparing against other brands you own if they have those too. I only have Shockoe denim so far because they're local to me and do free repairs. I'm hoping N&F will carry the success of true guy over to Unbranded.

@thevintagefuture6567
@thevintagefuture6567 2 ай бұрын
don't worry - you won't mess up fade potential if you're not going for high contrast fades. Unless you're washing your jeans like every 2 wears, the fades will have depth....just make sure you wear them like 10-15 times between washes once they're shrunk, and then you'll be good

As much as I can appreciate the cotton thread on repro-s, the construction with a poly/cotton thread is simply superior. Even if you are stickling for details it's nearly impossible to tell the difference visually between the two. And why would I be watching this if I weren't being the stickler for details? Nicely done on the wear and the review. I smile every time you mention Woody 'cause you remind me so much of him.

Denim purists don’t realize that the first denim jeans were sewn without the help of a serger or overlock sewing machine because they weren’t invented yet. So if they are going to nitpick about poly/cotton thread…

Always love hearing from you sir! You’ve won me over for poly thread, and this review finalized it for me. I’m still very into repro denim rn because of the historical replication aspect, but my staple jeans might have to be poly thread. Repairs are just so annoying when they happen too often…..And hahahaha Woody it is 😄🤠

how would you compare the quality / make / construction to japanese (Oni, SDA, Ironheart …) made denim?
@thevintagefuture6567
@thevintagefuture6567 3 ай бұрын
I should do a video on Japanese vs North American raw denim. This question of yours is fantastic. Generally, the Japanese made denim I've had (Tanuki, Oni etc) has more artistic soul to it, while North American denim seems to be more utilitarian and workwearish. Makes sense, since denim was a workwear staple made famous by North American tradesmen/women....From far away it all looks the same, but up close, the Japanese denim has the nuances of a delicacy, whereas North American denim usually is the same up close as far away - simple and tough - what you see is what you get....Obviously there are brands that will break the mould (Stevenson Overall etc). NONE of this can truly be generalized; but there are trends for sure. The argument could be made that NnF doesn't fit any category cuz they experiment with so many wild and crazy things. All that said, I don't find most of these brands to be any more durable or wearable than others. And the quality is pretty comparable across the board once you get past $150. Usually, what you're paying for is the art of it all, not durability or better stitching etc. IMHO from all the pairs I've had.
