This is by far the best looking P-51 scale model ive ever seen. GREAT WORK!!

Beyond your masking technique, you took a very painterly approach to weathering, etc., that reminds me very much of Spain's numerous world-class figure painters.

One interesting factoid I discovered in researching the P-51 is that the rivets are flush with the panels and also that they are white and are practically invisible against the aluminium at a distance. A dark panel wash over the "rivets" has the opposite effect of making them stand out instead of being invisible.

Great build, museum quality job. I liked the panel definition work especially. The weathering work I must have missed but it appears to be oil wash. Again great build. Will have to build a Tuskegee craft with that kit! Just finished the Tamyia D version with an Aries cockpit.

Nice looking Fiftyone. But i have two points of critics: first, 8th AAF (European theatre) Mustangs had no antenna cable because no great radio range was needed. The second point is, Mustangs had the wings except ailerons an flaps puttied and silver painted, so panel lines and rivets were barely visible.

I say you’ve gone a remarkable job in your P-51D Mustang. I’ve watched your video several times! Good job! I must point out however, the hydraulic arm to the inner wheel well doors should be mounted to the rear off the wing spar, not in the middle. This only applies to the “D” variant. Cheers, Gary

Nice build, a couple notes tho, when painting invasion stripes you should have the flaps up as this was the standard when painting them in full scale. Also the wings on P-51’s were smooth on top and bottom about 70% of the wing chord. They filled the panel lines and rivets in with body filler at the factory to increase top speeds. The wings are then painted silver. On a bare metal Mustang later in the war they didn’t paint them camouflage colors because the Allies were winning the war. So in this case with a bare metal wing first it should be smooth but silver colored and the flaps and ailerons would be bare metal. The trick with the thin tape over the rivets is a nice touch because in full scale they ground/sanded the rivets flush to the sheet metal in strips so the planes had a pattern from this. Someone else commented on the inner door ram being out of place, it is, they should be next to the wing spar. Cool build and nice cockpit, I’m thinking of buying one of these kits to try too.

They often stripped the wings in wartime, or the seams cracked open into fine lines from vibrations... I agree they should be discrete lines at most. In Korea my impression is stripped wings were even more common.

Antonio, que maqueta y que pinturas me recomiendas para inciarme en esto, tengo algunas pinturas de revell, pegamento, pinceles... y inclusive dos pistolas de aire comprimido...

You guys completely forgot to include the weathering an did not show how the metal panel lines were darkend before masking an how he blended the fresh painting an markings into the previously darkened metal panel lines, or how any of the other colors were blended in to the metal an weathered
