I completely understand not wanting him to turn into Mactics, but gifting is completely fine if it's moderated and balanced and part of a normal new player experience too.

Warframe isn't usually that good for yotube after you beat the story and quests. One big flaw with warframe is the lack of endgame and how you get so much power but have nowhere to really use it. It's a big reason destiny is usually overall better for videos and stuff. I think playing warframe and destiny is the best route to go.

As someone who's been playing both D2 and Warframe a long time starting out in Warframe I definitely understand rushing the crafting times it's definitely not as noticable later on when you have multiple Warframes to use and so the 3 day crafting times isn't as bad as you think but spend your money/platinum however you want enjoy the game. Glad to see you give this game a actual genuine try Cross

I love how he is shocked by the constant barrage of new gameplay mechanics he got. Just like I was, thinking this has got to be all the game has got to offer 20 hours in, and then Bam! another gameplay mechanic, and Bam! another lore revealing storyline and Bam! another open world. The game is overwhelming especially if you try to rush through things to catch up, but if you take the time to learn one thing at a time and just proceed through the star chart and main quest like Cross is doing here (with the help of chat), it does help with managing to getting to grasp with all those gameplay systems.

I strongly suggest taking your time with this one. Some of my fondest memories of the game are when I was just chilling fishing or getting the achievement for exploring all the caves in the Orb Vallis or just updating my fashion for a few hours, the lack of FOMO and ability to take breaks to play something else if I want is godly.

I've played Warframe since before Destiny came out. It has ALWAYS seem crazy to me how few expansive systems did Bungie add to their fucking games. No customizable base for your clan. No explorable city. No flying ships. I remember people BEGGING them to keep sparrow racing. No shooting from your sparrows.

As a vet who has all gear maxed: you should trade for some things. Most people won’t be against that. The only thing that people don’t like is when content creators are gifted a whole bunch of frames and weapons, because that greatly changes the experience of the game. There’s nothing wrong with being given some bare essentials mods like vacuum and intensify, being gifted cosmetics, and trading things you’ve earned and bought for more high value gear. Don’t be afraid of that stuff. It’s a big part of the game for everyone. Just try to avoid being given half of the game’s roster for free by fans, as that significantly changes the game for you

I think it's completely disgenuine for people to tell him to not trade at all, when they've all got gifted some things in their playthrough (unless you're a solo player and have 0 friends in the game). It's part of the new player experience, and removes some of the early slog which was honestly really hard for me to get through. I think seasoned players don't realise how "old" and grindy the early game feels.

@@joblesschris1400 it’s called that to make it easier to understand. damage is just multipliers. the most common multipliers are ones that multiply base values. things like serration, arcane merciless, mesa buff. then after this number is multiplied, it can get multiplied again by a different multiplier. this multiplier is from faction modifiers, faction mods, and roar. then you can have something like a final multiplier, which is after all other multipliers. the only example i can think of is mirage’s eclipse .

Rhino main here! Here is my super simple guide to playing Rhino. 1. with Rhino all you need is some: -duration, strength and range.- You also had flow, so you should equip that. You also get efficiency quite soon, so that’ll be useful as well. 2. Rhinos ironskin stores damage for 3 seconds after casting at max rank, so stand still in high density enemy fire, and move around after getting iron skin numbers. Enemy accuracy drops based on your speed and if you are airborne or not. YOU DO NOT need to mod any armor. Rhino can do level cap content easily with like 3 mods, he is that well made. 3. When using him against higher level content you want to use damage over time modding on weapons, because Rhinos Roar ability is a faction damage bonus (faction damage benefits a lot from DOT, it increases the weapon damage and then the DOT damage separately, something like serration only buffs weapon damage. So use weapons that benefit from: Slash, heat, toxin, electric and gas. Also you want to have high status chance, on said weapons, to proc the DOT consistently. Some weapons like scythes forcibly proc SLASH on heavy attacks, so they’ll be good on Rhino, and you’ll get a glaive with the biggest explosion range soon with the story (Xoris) and that forcibly procs Electric with its thrown detonated explosion.

Rhino, the OG frame that has never had a rework, and never will. Also the frame that got me into Warframe in a big way. I was the dork who started with Excal way in the early days, played like 200 hours, then left having never gotten to THAT mission. Came back when my multi-game clan had a Warframe chapter. Had a mentor push me to do 2 things. 1. Get Rhino. 2. Get to THAT mission. Once both of those happened I was so happy with the game I gladly dropped $$ on the Prime pack back then that got me Rhino Prime, Nyx Prime and Scindo Prime. I didn't do it to get those frames faster. I did it because I wanted to give DE money and that was the pack open at the time. Helped it was with my then new favorite frame, Rhino. When's the last time a F2P game embodied the "SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY" meme? Most other F2P games I play I end up passing on most of the stuff because it is layered in crap systems and even worse value for money.

As i always say towards newbies in my friend circle, you should always farm for parts and materials while leveling gear while stuff is built, repeat process but if you have the plat id say focus on buying slots(but the introduction of nightwave helps out giving free slots so that helps out newbies) because thats what hurts you starting out but you can sell maxed out stuff.... But never trash your built primes unless its a duplicate. But again its the choice of the player and so have fun with your choices in Warframe, theres tons of things to pick and do and the game doesn't really nick and dime you, just trade for plat or support the game either its a great game with tons of free content. Love seeing Cross enjoying his early 100 days of Warframe.

When they say “DO NOT RUSH” 100% of the time it means one of two things 1. Either it’s literally anything other than a warframe or weapon 2. It’s a warframe or weapon and they assume you have a crafting train going(by the time it’s finished the next is already crafting) but also depends on how bad you want it, but mostly also how far into the game you are, cross is a content creator who’s also eager to try it and so yea rushing warframes makes sense It’s simple but depends on how often you play the game

Farming the parts, letting them craft, then skipping the final build timer is what I have done for probably the last 60+ weapons/frames I've gotten. It's 100% a normal thing to do. Running a few relics is much faster than 3 days after all.

As someone who has played warframe for a pretty hefty amount of time, your approach to the experience is great and represents the general experience of the average new player, when I first started I had just as little knowledge of the game as you, with a little less respect to the grind and modding system. You’re doing great with the warframe content, your growth in the game brings me joy and I hope to see more as you progress. Side note: DO NOT worry about spending platinum to rush your items, I don’t know a single warframe player I’ve met who hasn’t done it even just once so by any means let that be a battle of your own will rather then being respectful to the grind.

One of my favorite things about this game is watching and/or replaying important quests and catching things that didn't quite click the first time. Either because there wasn't enough context yet, or I just hadn't caught it. For instance, listening to Mother's introduction when you arrive at the Necralisk, telling you about the Wall of Lohk. Could just be I didn't know what she was talking about when that launched 4-5 years ago, and now we know much more about that. But then also, playing subsequent quests and piecing together what we've been told by a variety of characters into a whole constructed tale. The dialogue and writing in this game is terrific in terms of how much the characters world-build, both in what they tell you AND how they talk about other characters, and the fact that most quests and interactions deserve listening to, is great.

anytime you're buildcrafting its helpful to just read the abilities, slap on a strength mod and see what changes, then slap on a duration mod instead, then efficiency, then range [range only has a few strange interactions, its mostly exactly what you think it is]. The abilities will update with the stuff you put on in the moment letting you see quickly what scales with which stats, and how well

Grineer say clem (klem) all the time, it literally means "them", when they shout Get Klem, they're saying "Get them" and when they say "Hut's uun of klem!" means "It's one of them!". There are dedicated Warframe website that explain how to translate Grineer, showing how to decipher their alphabet and numbers. Just like the Grineer, the Corpus, Ostron, Orokin and Solari, have their own language and alphabet. The language found in the year 1999, according to the internet is a modified Orokin, sort of proto-Orokin. The amount of work that went into this game keeps blowing my mind.

To be fair, trading mods and parts for Platinum so you can just outright buy Forma bundles and rush crafting times is a very veteran thing to do. No shame in rushing things if you are "cash rich" and "time poor."

100% I think if he really wants a "F2P" (in terms of buying non-cosmetics), he could just keep his big stockpile of plat for drip and trade for some plat to buy function stuff like reactors/forma/etc. Someone needs to tell him about Warframe.market so he can see fair prices to sell stuff so he knows he isn't getting unfair deals when trading if that's his worry. So for example when he sells 35 plat worth of stuff, he can then buy a forma bundle, when he sells another 20 he can get a reactor etc.

Regarding the Archwing, there are actually a handful of skins for them. There's one that's specifically for the wings you have (Odonata) which will sometimes appear in Baro Ki'teer's shop, another, universal skin that changes the model, also from Baro, and a final Prime skin that's tied to Titania's Prime Accessories. Furthermore, outside of space missions, Archwings can also be used in the three open landscapes that you've encountered thus far.

Most of destiny is just copy paste ideas from WF since its conception. Playing both since release, I've seen it first hand. WF gets Baro. Destiny makes a copy. Even the lore and storylines are too similar. WF makes something happen with good content, D2 is quick to pull a vanilla ice and change 1 note in a song to make it their own.

Trading isn't a bad thing, honestly it's a core part of the game. There are lots of people who've been playing for a long time and have a LOT of spare mods or prime parts to hand out. With respect to how youre trying to play, if you do any trading, I recommend just getting basic mods that are either obnoxiously hard to farm for or little things to improve your QoL if they aren't dropping(Fetch and Vacuum are common enough, but if you don't have them after a couple weeks trading for those may be smart). Braton Prime and Paris Prime are two VERY available weapons that wouldn't hurt your intent, and if built right are actually decent weapons to have in your arsenal. Glad to see you getting into Warframe! Hope you continue to enjoy the journey, I love watching people experience what I did many years ago. Keep at least 1 copy of any of your mods, don't fully level expensive ones unless you can fit em in your build(saves resources too), and have fun!

As a long time warframe vet (4500+ hours in) I'm loving those streams and videos, it's especially nice to see how a new Tenno starts out the journey, awkward movements in game, no idea about bullet jumping, easily getting lost and as more and more videos happen, the gameplay becomes more fluid, usage of mods and systems more refined, comprehension of lore pulling the new player deeper in... no matter how many times I see it, it's always such a nice ride :)

Cross don't be afraid to trade for things its a big thing for the game. Some mods you may not want to grind and items in the prime vault it's just straight up not obtainable outside of a few sources that rotate and trading. You also get to see some amazing clan dojos and get to meet more people from the community! The plat also goes back into the player base and its really nice. Of course its your game have a wonderful time with it your obviously having fun with it so continue that! If you have any questions thekengineer makes some great guide content and the warframe wiki gives you more indepth information on content.

the diference between Bungie and DE is that, bungie tries to change the formula as little as possible, adding as little new things as they can get away with . DE on the other hand, goes ham on everything, they hear an idea and think "hey that sounds like fun, lets try it". and sure, it doesnt always works, for years archwings had been seen as a failure, something novel, then they changed it, and it became more fun, they added k-drives, and people asked to be able to use their guns with them, so they changed, and allowed it, they added open worlds, and so many other things just because they could. DE isnt afraid of trying something and failing, and that allows them to offer more. and you can see the love they have for their game. even when things dont work out.

Imagine a D3 - massive copium but the only way we'd get these things with a new engine - with a customisable space ship, space battles (railjack), inherent fast movement not just an exploit (well skating on warlocks) and so forth. I love seeing him enjoy what Warframe has to offer, Aztec if your seeing this I say change your "no gifts rule" to only take ones after you have legit unlocked the Warframe or gear cause you can use extras of Warframes for stuff late game once you play with standing with certain groups and just tell everyone not to give ya certain things cause items like forma you don't wanna grind for if not needed and it's not good "content" to do legit so you would just handicapping yourself a bit with resources of certain types as gifts a lot of normal players get small things as gifts cause we can all earn it legitimately so your still getting a true experience.

I completely agree. The purists in the comment section are annoying me. I understand that Aztec shouldn't turn into Mactics, but part of my new player experience was people helping out speed SOME of the slog with gifts or helping me out finishing builds with mods I simply was too unlucky in not getting. I gift new players too and I do not believe anyone claiming they've never gotten gifts for a "pure experience". It's all about moderation.

​@@lanyceraI'm a bit confused about the hate towards Mactics. To my knowledge, gifting in Warframe is either on or off. Once you accept a gift, you keep it and can't return it. You also cannot set in game what gifts are acceptable or not. Mactics said that whenever he was gifted something like a warframe or weapon, he wouldn't use it until he got it/farmed for it himself to experience the grind in getting it. I feel like it's really strange to gate keep how someone plays the game, even if their experience is more privileged than yours considering they're a streamer.

@aztecross the best part of warframe is grinding for components and mods then selling/trading them for ingame currency. You can do that to get your plat needed to speed up or trade for other items/mods.

As a Rhino Main. Rhino is an incredible weapons platform. Mod for mainly strength, then duration then range. Strength affects all his abilites, Range doesn't affect Iron Skin nor does Duration, but Roar buff is so strong you want it anyway. Things to note about Rhino's abilities. Iron Skin has an invulnerability period where all damage taken becomes more Overguard for the ability and takes into account your current armor value for calculation, Roar percentage buff is multiplicative to most damage increases as it's calculated last.
