One of the recurring known issues for new players is the game dumps a ton of stuff on new players all at once without explaining it. Its a bit better than it used to be, but watching you accidentally stumble into leverian (the museum), which ended up pointing you at the market, to buy a warframe you dont need yet, while space mom is still monologuing in the background about the story really highlighted this issue.

Half? Maybe of the "official" tutorial. But you'll be learning how this game works for at least a hundred hours. This game is massive and has countless game modes and systems upon systems upon systems. The more you play, the more complex the game gets, and it does not hold your hand.

Warframe vet here - your commentary is really cool to listen to! Plenty of actual opinions on the game as it goes which is great, and your channel has no where near the attention it deserves with this kind of production value and quality. One thing that slipped past you is bullet jumping - press crouch and jump to propel yourself forwards. You also killed far too many rabbits for me to be ok with. There's complete cross save and cross play on PS, Xbox, PC, switch, and (as of a few months ago) iPhones, with Android later this year. The icons in chat just differentiate your platform and other platforms bc they hit legal issues when each platform had its own icon. The Leverian you jumped into is kind of a lore document for a few of the Warframes (playable characters). There are 54 Warframes and they nearly all have a story quest or a Leverian that fills in their backstory. Every single gameplay element can be obtained without premium currency except cosmetics. The total number of Warframes or weapons you can own at once is locked behind premium currency, but you start off with enough for a few characters, it's tradable between players so you can farm and sell things, and you often get like 75% discount vouchers as log in rewards. Would absolutely love to watch more! Warframe is kind of famous in its community for getting gradually better because generally the more you play through it the newer the content is!

I enjoyed your playthrough. You should definitely keep going! It is not pay to win at all, anything that effects power can be earned for free, and all content is also free. Funny that you mention it having AAA quality, as Warframe is essentially what could be considered the AAA of free games. It is a gold standard that many other games have tried to replicate.

This game has just hit 11 years old and has the next 5 years of development set for release. You will have access to 52 warframes, a dozen pets, half a dozen sentinals, mech suits, hoverboards and open world mech wings. Some clans still have hundreds of active players with thousands in game. congrats, you just opened a can of worms. There is one tenno (you) and many frames to walk into.

They are actually working on a different game as well which really do look like a AAA game through and through. But Digital Extremes are some very delightful developers and care about their games and community which i think the community also reflects. They came from humble beginnings and now have the ability to achieve AAA quality with one of the best free to play games ever made. You might be interested in looking at their previous games, i was definitely surprised at what they worked on in the past

Great intro, I liked your observations. The movement in this game is amazing, the gunplay is good, and the game just gets bigger and bigger as you play. Ive been playing off and on for a decade. As many have said, its not a P2W game, more like P2skip grind. Its pretty much all PvE so every warframe and weapon in the game is good enough, especially as you learn to mod and increase power. There are a number of stand-outs though that make a slightly evolvinf "meta" at lategame. Everything in the game, outside of some cosmetics, is available for free. Save your starting plat for weapon slots and warframe slots. Soon enough you'll be able to farm your first warframe, Rhino. Each warframe (and most weapons) has the regular version and a "Prime" variant you can acquire later. The prime is slightly better and usually prettier. DE makes a lot of their money selling the Prime Access packs which include all the newly released stuff and rotate regularly, but you can still obtain it all for free by playing. When you get to the shop it will default to showing you the premium currency options, but you can buy the blueprints for credits as you saw with Ivara in this video. If the blueprint for something isnt available, that means its only available by farming somewhere - you may need a second screen open with the wiki once you progress far enough. Recently DE have been making strides towards streamlining the earlier quests to make them easier and faster to complete with less timegates, so that the newer stuff isnt locked away from new players for too long. Also - WARNING - once you get nightwave credits (the free battlepass, there is no paid version) don't spend them till you do some research - there is a resource there called Nitain that you will eventually need and Nightwave is the only reliable way to get it.

The fanbase isnt small by any means, but it seems like it doesnt have a big of a reach as it should There is crossplay with xbox btw. Even switch and mobile now (iOS) it just shows all cross-platform players other than your own with that symbol Hope you enjoy the massive amount of content this game has to offer!

The tutorial is pretty good now but the new player experience and mechanical explanations are very limited. If you have any questions, feel free to ask someone and theyll almost always gove you tips. this is my first time stumbling across your channel, and i am ecstatic to see yet another new Tenno finding their way in the system. welcome, and i do hope you enjoy your time here! it is a HUGE universe you have stumbled on that has changed VASTLY in the last few years. the story is wonderful and the gameplay is one of the best ive played in a long time. the true fantasy experience of the space murder ninja! ive been playing for years and have thousands of hours in WF yet i still love watching when new Tenno step in and take up their first frame, fire their first bullet, and slice their first Grineer into spaghetti! i really look forward to seeing your journey should you continue onwards. small bonus hint: though im sure its been brought up, im just going to cover it real quick just in case. if you crouch while running, you will slide, which you can then jump mid slide to do a bullet jump. bullet jumping will cause you to do a hard, fast leap in the direction of your cursor. so you can bullet jump straight up to get major height if you want. further, you can double jump from a bullet jump and can even roll to further your distance. finally, you can hold crouch to prep yourself to slide when you land, allowing you to then chain bullet jumps quickly into one another to literally FLY across maps at mach speeds! Warframes movement system is something that has been fine-tuned over 11 years, take advantage of it! trust me, after you learn the ropes of WF movement system, every game you play after will feel so slow and sluggish in comparison! hope this helps and i hope you have fun! good luck out there, Tenno!

@@TheDarkFoxOfficial Yep, one per year! You mainly get the same things every year, along with one brand new item. But, when you have the item once you can just use it to get a free slot. It's a really great thing for new starters to get in on as you get decent weapons quickly, plus some very cool skins! It'll be great to see what you do next :D Loved the video, it's always exciting to see new players. Warframe is a big, dense game and it'll take a while to get your head around all the mechanics and stuff to do. My only advice is take it slow and steady! If you're into big quests, the game has that as well. And yeah, sorry to hear you had a not so great time with Wayfinder. DE used to publish it, but recently closed down it's publishing arm unfortunately.

Please do not let that discurage you, as the story and characters are getting better and better, the more you play. If you ever get stck or confused, you can always ask community in the game (chat that you have seen - you can pick different channels, so just find Q and A channel for the help (Once you finish tutorial)). Also, this game is also power fantasy game, besides being looter shooter. So, game will get harder, but it will not get unreasonably hard. A small tip: Pay attention on what characters are talking in game... a lot of times, different clues are hidden in their talking.

I'd definitely recommend checking out some beginner's guides and always keeping the wiki nearby while playing since this game has A LOT of content that all have their own complicated systems and quirks which can be kinda confusing.

Always great to see new players start to play Warframe. I remember back when I started playing I was really confused by all the mechanics and stuff. It is important to know that there are a lot of new player traps in terms of microtransactions and purchasable items. Although it is very easy to say that Warframe is one of the most free free-to-play titles ever. Everything in the game(Other than some cosmetics) can be gotten through just playing the game, in fact I have almost 400 hours ingame and I have not spent a single dollar on the game.

Just so you know, this game is not on unreal engine it’s their own engine. The game doesn’t look like it did 4 years ago. They are constantly updating graphics and revisiting old tile sets to bring them into line with the current game. I have 2102 log in days and approaching 7,000 hours into the game over a 10 year period. Have fun. Oh you mentioned you are old. I’m 68 soon to be 69 so, join the crowd. I have another guy in my clan who is 73, so you aren’t alone and yes the game is on Xbox, switch and now on iOS mobile and coming to Android.

You do not need to spend money on the warframes and weapons. As you play you will get their blueprints and parts to build them, some just take longer than others. The game is not pay to win, but pay to skip building items and currency for trading parts with other players if you want to skip playing to get a specific part. I think that most players buy platinum to support the company since the entire game can be played entirely for free, even to get the prime warframes and weapons. Take your time and enjoy the game. The game is very expansive and the developers continually update the game. You can catch their dev streams online as they usually have a weekly update or play session. Feel to reach out to other players if you have questions. I have been playing for a long time and this is a game you can put down for a while and comeback to a new experience. Enjoy!

There is in fact crossplay between PlayStation, PC, Xbox, Switch, and even IPhones, but the chat only marks people as being on your platform or a generic “other”. So you can’t tell the difference between an Xbox player and a pc player when you’re on PlayStation.

I've played Warframe for most of its lifetime and I still enjoy it, even if I step away from it for a little bit and come back. And I'm glad they finally made the story a little more accessable, Warframe suffered a long time from the "it takes 50+ hours to get good" problem, esp when it came to the story. The story happened so long after the game was released for a while it took close to 100 hrs just to reasonably get to it for a new player Warframe's main issue these days is how many systems it has. When you've been playing for a long time it doesn't seem bad, but for a new person there's such an overwhelming amount of systems and currencies that the game legit does not teach you how they work it's recommended you just have the wiki ready. I love the game but I do think the new player experience could use some work still, it's a LOT better then it was in the past tho

I've been playing off and on for a long time and recently came back with the addition of cross-save/play. All but one character (Excalibur Prime) is unlockable through in-game play, I would save some plat for weapon and frame slots. I hope you have fun with it, the MR leveling system is probably the most un-ideal part of the game. It can be a grind but the gameplay is very good especially if you have a couple friends.

'Cause if you do stick with it, I can promise it will slowly add layers and layers into the gameplay experience (and eventually, the story will unravel into something crazy). P.S. Bullet jump (crouch+jump towards any direction) is the staple of the traversal system. Chain it with dodgerolls, slides, aim glides, and occasional wall dashes, and you're a certified space ninja.

Welcome abourd new Tenno, may your future be full of potatoes. It sounds weird out of context but "potatoes" is a genuine community term (and I'm sure I've heard the Devs use it in their livestreams) As many others have said, the only true P2W element is the true final boss: Fashion Frame, but their are ways around it, since you can get plat through trading with other players and theoretically get everything without spending a penny. Besides a few specific items like Excalibur Prime or the Dex weapons, that nobody can get through paying; you either got them or you didn't. (Excal Prime, Lato Prime and Skana Prime were only given out to kickstarter backers, and different Dex weapons have come out on the aniversery of the launch and are given to every account signed up at that time. This year's was the Dex Nikana, for example) anti-noob-trap tips I can give are; - save your plat for warframe and weapon slots. - Don't use up Catalysts and Reactors (the afformentioned "Potatoes") and forma willy-nilly, save them for weapons and 'frames that you enjoy using. You can go a liiiittle crazy in the end game, but farming them can be a drag at early levels. I honestly wouldn't even worry about Formas until at least Neptune if not later. - do not, I repeat DO NOT invest in Excalibur. At most, potato him and I'd advise against that. Without spoiling too much, you will be given a direct upgrade, already potatoed and forma'd for free after a certain quest. - don't be afraid to try lots of weapons and frames, the MR system is designed to get you to try a lot of things so you might as well embrace it. You can get a decent chunk of MR points through leveling and ditching the MK1 weapons you can buy prebuilt for credits in the marketplace. They're all pretty awful weapons, but that means you only ever want to rank them to 30 and then ditch 'em to get the weapon slot back. - Completing a Spy mission without being detected inside the vaults gives a decent chunk of affinity (xp), good for ranking up a brand new weapon to at least get some basic mods in. - Lastly, affinity gained is divided as such; 25% goes to your warframe, the other 75% is split evenly amung all weapons. For faster level grinding, equip only the weapon you're working with so it gets all 75% of the weapon affinity. This includes weapons that certain warframes come with, such as Excal's Exalted Blade, so they're not the best for weapon grinding, but they'll do (say the girl who's main frame has an inbult weapon and i've ranked up weapons with her haha)

On pc it will discount real money to platinum purchases You can trade items for platinum though, so every single thing in the game except for "prime accesories" and some event items can be earned

Btw, You don't have to pay a single penny into the game to get most of the things in the game (the ones where you can pay money to are prime accessories but they have no gameplay value, just cosmetics), And Platinum can be aquired through trading with other players wich is amazing. Warframes (playable characters) weapons and mods all can be aquired for free by farming and building them when you're in your ship. I've been playing since 2016 and I've never spent any real money into the game (even thought I would love to, to support the devs and the game) sadly, there's no localized prices where I'm from so it's not possible. But, like I said, never spent a penny and I have everything, A lot of skins, all warframes including primes etc. Trading with players is a core mechanic that you will most likely take part in in the future. This is an extremly fair free to play game, really grindy but still very fun.

Been playing since the start - outdoor areas have been around for a long time (way longer than the 4 years since you last played!). Tutorial doesn't really finish until the 50-100hr mark, when you hit the character creation screen. (Not joking.)

They've been updating game's engine steadily over the years, cranking up graphics, so it always looks up to date Some areas still have old assets and haven't been touched up for years, so you might notice some quality inconsistency as you play, but overall it's pretty good This is their AAA game they've poored everything into, it just happens to be F2P

Just for new players. you gear, items and warframes. Everything that you could level up will give you ONCE and expirience. That will allow you grow in account level, and you will be able to have a use more gear an so on. Ofc if you spend money on play you could get earlier. Guilds = Dojo will help you ALOT since there is MANY blueprints for craft. First waframe you good to get Wukong, weapon as classic Wrath Ignis. And you are ready to pass game to Strel path. Yes, normal game mode is just begining. VERY begining. Enjoy

Been playing this game since a year after release and i gotta say theres something about watching someone go thru the game i was practically raised with but with a whole new twisted story from start to finish cause it was so much more simpler and basic before and now the game has come such a long way 🫡
