Back in the day, this and Torid were the only things that had Toxin damage- Saryn was like offbrand green fire. Acrid was what ended up in many a loadout for T3 Defense missions with the Ogris. The memes were great as well- "Acrid? You mean the Baby Bottle?" Then Update 9 rolled around and made Toxin damage it's own thing in mods. And the legend known as the Acrid died.

I used to use this as a gas gun back when gas clouds did toxin damage. I haven't busted it out since coming back to the game though. Now I kinda want to...which is why I have a love/hate thing going with the series of videos. Don't stop making them, though, it's at least a little bit more love!

It's a weapon that does pure toxin damage, most toxins are derived from existing biological toxins. Think how jungle natives coat their blowdarts in the poison from frogs, literally resulting in the name of "poison dart frog" as a subset frog species. It has nothing to do with being infested, nor should that matter.

With max status duration (the Toxic Sequence augment + Perpetual Agony + Augur Seeker) and Radiation damage, the Acrid can keep your "friends" vulnerable to teamkilling for almost an entire minute per shot in Radiation Hazard sorties :)

The Embolist is the toxin version of the Ignis, just without the huge range, the infinite body punchthrough, huge magazine and the strong damage... Luckily it has very high status and riven disposition, so with Secondary Encumber/Cascadia Empowered and a riven you can get some very good results out of it ^_^

Great video! I love that it has boltor-like wall-pinning properties in particular. Wish more weapons had that. If it isn't too much trouble, could you consider doing a video on the Viper Wraith at some point? It's my favorite gun from back in the day, and I cannot for the life of me get it to work in Steel Path. Perhaps unsurprisingly, I can't find anyone else who's ever given it a shot. Yeah, it was before they completely reworked how the status effects worked. So it was quite a bit more powerful, being a pure toxin weapon with a guaranteed proc on hit.

As the warframe damage over time specialist i am surprised you didn't belt out it's augment mod and secondary encumber for this video. Warframe players really don't seem to understand how damage over time works and then consider damage over time bad xd. If you used toxic sequence it may have done a lot better against the acolyte. I love you videos regardless but damage over time is my ideal style of play on all games i love proc saturarion on enemies. Ironically i too am revisiting this weapon today. Thanks for your insight and spotlighting an underrated oldie.

I'm gonna throw the Embolist as a suggestion out there. It's surprisingly good once you get all the good mods on it with Secondary Encumber/Cascadia Empowered. And it's the only Ignis style secondary in the game, come on! ^_^ (the thing does sound and feel puny when using, needs better sound/visual design if it ever gets an Infested Lich version)

Definitely not worth the investment, but you could probably make it scale into late game with green shards. Use 1 or 2 for max corrosive stacks, then the rest for +% toxin proc damage then mod it for corrosive with Galv Shot, faction mod and Cucumber.

I've been watching too many of these. I got an Embolyst riven and spent *all day* Saturday trying to make it work. 5 forma, 25 rerolls, an exilus slot, and two green shards on a Citrine and it can finally do Steel Path...worse than almost any other weapon on that same Citrine. But that did lead me to improve my Citrine a lot and find out that almost any high base status weapon in her hands is something to be feared. So I've got that going for me, I guess?

I have an awesome Riven for this thing, damage, multishot, and even some status chance to boot... BUT it has -90% projectile speed, so it makes it completely unusable at anything beyond melee range.

The stinger weapon of the Djinn and the Mutalist Cernos are the only other weapons that i know of that also force proc toxin regardless if you change the element. The Embolist used to, it also used to have punch through like the ignis, but despite nobody liking the embolist DE still nerfed it to what we have now. It kinda made the Acrid more unique in a way?

Oh, and you forgot to add the Acrids augment mod from perrin sequence! It gives you a flat 200% status duration so you can really melt enemies with the toxin ;)

This weapon was added in 2013 and then the stats were adjusted in 2014 for Damage 2.0. Damage 2.0 update made it drastically fall from grace as it used to ignore armor and shields completely, but these stats were kind of okayish at that time (we didn't even had 60/60 mods back then, only toxin ones) and prime pistol gambit or arcane avenger did not exist.
