Why don't you use nyx 4 with its magnifier?

I haven't tested it, but I'm fairly certain Assimilate would be really bad in this fight. Being so slow would make TFO's attacks nearly unavoidable, and if it doesn't get dispelled, each hit absorbed would drain a massive amount of energy since they deal an insane amount of raw damage. I reckon shield gating is probably a lot easier to pull off.
