I've been meaning to tell you, the Diplos have a weird interaction with punchthrough. They fly circles around their target unable to hit them a second time with the alt fire (but it can hit surrounding enemies once each). This is akin to Bullet Blenders with Xata's Whisper, and it seemed like it had potential but I would have needed an Electric Progenitor to test it further properly. (My idea would have been Radiaition+Disarm to make enemies path to eachother and clump for ADS bullet blenders and Electric DOT)

But when I realized the bullets orbit at around head height, I was unsure if I was down to get a second one for electric just to test the theorycraft. I want to, but I also kinda don't(?). Xata's Whisper is helminthable and I can use exergis on frames I want that synergy for. Assuming it's worth trying out, I might do it eventually and get back to you on it. Edit: Like Loki and Zephyr, they really like that Helminth + Exergis

The lock on feature is really annoying because its a pretty decent bullet hose secondaries otherwise. I have magnetic on mine but radiation would be better overall i guess. The alt fire should be you empty the entire magazine with mini missiles that simply seek enemies on their own within range, no aiming crap like the sepulacrum. Then i would be more than willing to use it. Make it so they also have a small aoe like the helstrum sentinel weapon and boom you have some aoe to make it useful for crowds somewhat too. Missed opportunity and its been too long, they won't really buff the mechanic. I'm also still salty that this weapons introduction broke the buzlok's tracker and even after TWO fixes its still broken and can miss targets, very rarely did before. sigh.

I’m extremely salty about it bugging the buzlok tbh. It was just a really fun weapon and I’d like to take it out from time to time, even has a fun riven for it. I agree there is no reason it can’t unleash the magazine as a hellfire. We already have tenet weapons capable of dumping entire magazines and ambassador that does it in two, so it’s weird this one only uses two…bullets.

@@Aznvasions The sepulacrum or however you spell it has a similar shitty mechanic where its one rocket per enemy, rather than a full unload of rockets and they spread out to seek all the enemies that you target equally. At least the trumna alt fire is good.

The auto-lock is actually really fun if you're ever doing content you're overpowered for, because the double-headshot will be enough to kill. So, you can flick the reticle around and one-hit everyone amusingly fast without even aiming, even faster than an AoE weapon. I like to use it when helping newbies. When you're doing steel path and stuff, though, it is an annoying feature. Still excellent guns though.

Hey Az, I gotta tell you about this nonsense I just tested in steel path. -Chroma -daikyu -cycron -mecha set Vex armor buffs daikyu’s damage (a heat build), proc the marked target with the daikyu, then scale the heat proc however high you want(/can because good luck having that guy survive long enough even swap) with the tenet cycron, I defy anything to not get slaughtered within range of the status spread from mecha

Hahhaha, yea Mecha Set is super busted. Sadly it has a 15s cooldown, but makes any status build cool af for aoe nuking. I used to run a slash setup with the Ash Shuriken to prime and kill stuffs, and when Mecha proc'd the entire ended up with massive viral and slash. Love that toy.

The weight of the elements is more important than the status chance here. You want to keep Viral weight low, and Heat high. Especially because it's a beam. So status procs easily. Every viral proc after the 10th is wasted, so you want as many procs as possible to be Heat. So higher heat weight is more important than higher status chance. Basically, the small amount of status chance you gain by going max rank is worth less than the amount of Heat weight you lose by increasing the amount of viral on the build that way

The aimfire is 4 bullets per target and maybe some more for locking onto more than one. Also the seeking is trash if they're moving or not close already. So it sucks at actually being useful for range. Arcane deadhead and recoil mod solves the recoil problem because the are additive.

I'm not gonna build out the dippys but I'm definitely using the buffing techniques! Technically you could strip armor with a dagger and Argonak primary with it's amalgam mod from the Ropolyst. Gas dagger might make it approach aoe armor strip....I'll play around with it next time I get a melee invigoration....

Yep! I just didn’t cover it since I had that as a video very recently. Usually these newer weapon reveals I try to keep it a little more bare bones on the synergy to give a proper evaluation rather than tailoring every single thing in the entire loadout to make it work.

Viral will kill for where corrosive can’t, but viral slash is also weak enough on this weapon that viral slash isn’t really a good way to take this into endurance either. Basically, it deletes base level SP stuff but has a really big problem with higher levels without resorting to some elemental buff setups

The Sepulcrum has the same alt fire kind of mechanic, but it only triggers when you request it to after 5 kills and you press the alt fire button. Not only that, but the damage dealt by Sepulcrum's alt fire is a wide spread aoe that deals insane damage with the same kind of lock on feature. The Tenet Diplos are fun until you start trying to aim with it, because then it becomes a sluggish boring weapon that deals pitiful damage per second. I don't understand why they made it so you're stuck with a quick "burst shot" trigger when the lock on feature is applied, considering that each individual bullet don't really deal THAT MUCH damage to begin with; even if the lock-on allowed continuous fire, the damage output would still be fairly limited. No reason to use this over well modded twin grakatas : they have more balanced status/crit, higher crit multiplier, innate 2 multishot, 20 base damage vs 28 for diplos before progenitor (so not THAT big of a difference) with more average distribution on i.p.s., larger magazine with similar reload speeds. Sure you are gonna miss out on innate 1m punchthrough of the diplos, but at least you can aim and go for headshots, which are gonna be better supported by the higher crit multiplier anyway. Less modspace due to no progenitor can be a bit of a letdown, but it's a sacrifice I'm willing to make so that a MR8 weapon can outdo a MR15 one. (And in my honest opinion, this is also why we're not getting kuva twin grakatas, they'd just outperform every single akimbo option in the game by a huge margin.)

Yup I agree they would outperform. The augment is also interesting, but pistoleer exists too for shenanigans. They should’ve made the lock on for diplos still let you shoot normally, but altfire while ads to make it work, just like the sepulcrum. And it would use actual ammo, and not aoe. But spends the entire mag. That would be pretty cool to see a whole hellfire of missiles. A different spin from the sepulcrum, but I feel would be much appreciated and welcome as a side grade

when DE release weapons like diplos they should also give it an augment which disables the mechanics in the exilus slot, or just have generic mod which disables all quirks of a weapon. just out of curiosity have u tried the quatz pistol its reload quirk kind cool and its aim quirk is gud too, would love top have a kuva variant of this!

I’ve played with it a bit. KQuartakk also has that feature but I think they disabled the ADS spam toggle fire bug. The reload quirk I’m not entirely sure about though

@@Aznvasions quatz - reload on full empty clip is a shockwave with forced electric procs and its ADS is like single shot from all 4 barrels, its been a while since i played with it but u could fire in full auto then ADS for lower recoil when firing full auto

Diplos: a solid secondary crit stick, similar to Aksomati p. I agree. Has high recoil- Hold my rapid-fire Corinth p. Tbh: recoil isn't an issue when using Magnum Force and doesn't need compensation. When facing groups, you'll level-out to headshot height in no time without wasting many bullets. Got a 60% heat one by coincidence (chasing ephemeras), pure heat is enough for sisters and regular SP, despite corro being better, killed SP Lepanthis with it.

SP lephantis doesn’t have armor though, only sortie lephantis has Armor. Corinth has the forgiveness of actual damage behind it and means you don’t need headshots. I agree diplos does level out to head easily on sustained fire. But sustained fire also eats a ton of ammo and the weapon also has ammo economy problems. And the. It’s also unable to proc status properly. That mix of issues is why I wasn’t so happy with the initial stock builds for the weapon

I agree saryn is the best frame for this weapon in terms of scaling damage. But i also use a meme build with any frame using the scourge alt fire,it's a guaranteed head shot lock on turning viral into a monster. Again...a meme build but fun.

As you said, the only way these weapons can scale is with armor striping How ever, it is no longer tied to the frame, you can use gas armor strip daggers to armor strip a group of enemies then shoot the down with diplos

I heard hemorrhage gives you sub a bigger *impact* so that mistah notices it when you sub. The exilus mod also lets you reload your prime sub faster, so that you can use it again before 30 days YEP

I like diplos & lock-in works for me but it took some time getting use to it.I can clear a room before actually entering it BCS I can lock-on to targets as soon as the door opens.Gotta riven with fr & cc,-p.speed.My build is:primed heated,primed expel, primed Gambit, primed cracker,hornet,gal.shot & diffusion,momentum on exiles & deadhead.Even tho Im having a lot of fun using these especially with arcane precision ,I think there r better weapons for demolists,my fav is Tysis.

Yea definitely I agree. Tysis is a really cool pick and I use it sometimes as primers. Pox is another fun one with interesting interactions since it persists after throwing. I just wish the ADS handled better. As even right now it can’t hs properly even though it’s supposed to

@@Aznvasions .that's a problem with these "half explosive" weapons & hidden stats which result in DE complicating things.Diplos have explosive effect but don't have radial in stats nor the explosive shot can be modified.I think that's the main problem. Explosion should help with getting hs even if we miss direct hit to the head.At least that's what I think it is the logic behind crit based weapons with radial effect. Unfortunately,since it's not an explosive weapon that's why we are getting mixed/confusing results.Got DMG & MS with negative on pox riv & with gal mods & expel plus stealth multi they can be VERY evil.Diplos should be used as a crit hybrid & mod it with appropriate element & expel for each faction.

Because I don't have the time to max them all, and depending on the scenario, I don't need them maxed to properly give the showcase, ie here, because Ember's augment massively surpasses the initial heat weighting the weapon has. And because of the infinite scaling on heat DoTs, going 60% won't make much a difference for TTK.

Corrosive only strips to 80%. And as you go higher, 80% is no longer enough. That’s why I said corrosive is fine for base SP, but has serious issues with scaling of you want to go further. That’s also why I went though so many builds to see which setups work for which scenarios :P

I don't mind helping out. ;) Jokes aside good coverage on testing this weapon.. But idea can you give the old staticore another try since AOE weapons are king atm & no one has a recent build on it. It use to be my favorite weapon of all time before they nerfed it, but maybe galvanized mods + a riven might make it good again.

Yea the kick is a bit much, and the targeting mechanic is atrocious. If there is any saving grace, it might help you to know the aimed single shots have multiplicative Eclipse kind of scaling with Gun CO mods. The normal fire mode doesn't.
