Sorry about the left side being cut off, there seems to have been a recording error for the first 3 episodes! Will fix from episode 4.

A hint of using anti-ship airplanes: Bring them in a line perpendicular to the heading of your target, and turn them towards the target when all of your planes spawned! By doing this your planes will form a “wall” flying towards the enemy (instead of a “chain”), and thus all the planes will fire their missiles at the same time, giving them more chance to overrun the target’s CIWS. This tactic would be useful for F18s and A6s in the Second Korean War campaign :)
@wdsf31786 жыл бұрын
Also, ships in Wargame have their respective weaknesses in turns of CIWS. For example, Nanuchka doesn’t have any proper CIWSs (all its AK630s are mounted on the back) towards its front so it should be attacked head-on. Yet Hatsuyuki should be dealt in the total opposite way :)

I wish more people liked Naval Combat in Red Dragon. I just think the mechanics of trying to overwhelm CIWS and strategically placing key ships within the CIWS of other less important ships is pretty neat. I also wish that river boats could be used on more land maps. I want to use monitors more.
@96Waffler6 жыл бұрын
its not really bad tbh its just when people see navy they expect like 17th/18th century close quarters broadsides (you know the kind of stuff you'd see in a pirates of the Caribbean movie) having two fleets of ships just site on opposites sides of each other while slowly shooting missiles at each other is just not as exciting and get boring very quickly once you get over the novelty of it i think thats the main issue its one of excitement than of functionality

I think the recording for this session derped a little bit lol. The video is cut off a bit on the left side. The naval battle reminded me of a video that Rangroo did about the expectations vs reality in Wargame. The last bit was just 8 minutes of naval warfare because it's literally 18th century musket men shooting at each other and missing.

if you line up the anti ship planes and make them fire at the same time it will take much less to destroy the enemy

This man is just so damn lucky with enemy ships that i cant even describe it. Like 7 out of 10 enemy rockets hit my ships, and only 2 out of my 10 hits enemy. It sucks. Like two Nanushka and one Sovremenniy tanked 10 of my Moskit and three Luda!

@nicolasc31833 жыл бұрын
It's good idea to attack only with the fleets so the marines could launch attack right next round. And if you send the marines to naval combat, try forming a wall with Shanghai in the front of your fleet for they can't be targeted with missiles while having a fine AA

Dude trying to destroy the sovremenny was the hardest part of this campaign, having no choice but to hold my najins back and getting hit by asms from 8k meters away was tough. I think it took me like 8 to finally bring down both of them. I havent even got to fight the udaloys yet.
@bobbot5400 Жыл бұрын
Moskit brother, use them for strategic destruction of bigger ships and use Luda for direct on naval contact. Then once one is destroyed, they will keep it in their HQ. Rocket arty can be added for suppression and morale damage aswell. Just my sense on how I did this battle.

Won the first naval battle by immediately deploying all 8 anti-ship jets to destroy the first command ship. The second command ship and all Russian ships headed towards my navy so we engaged in a close quarter brawl that culminated with me sending a damaged Moskit close enough that when it blew up, the Russian command ship also blew up.

Naval battles fairly terrible. Tip i find works is getting enemy ai to wastes all missiles by micro managing round islands and smoke pain it the arse but works will little to no lost units and planes need to be called in at same time as you need at least 4 missiles firing at once for 1 of the 4 missiles to get past cwis

@15:50 Watching Saucy's play-through (kzbin.info/www/bejne/gnPXanp4otKDarc), the AI has been just as derpy with their ATGMs ever since the game was released... I think it was due to complaints after the ALB release that it was too campy, so they made it super-aggressive on practically all settings... (Not that it matters for RD campaigns, since the AI settings can't be changed for those anyway.) @28:50 Anti-ship missiles cannot target "riverine" boats in this game, which includes the Shanghai (and more annoyingly the Komars). That can be gamed so those Migs do virtually no damage in this fight... @34:00 this mission is very luck-dependent, particularly in term of losses you take. With virtually the same tactics (save just before ships open fire in each of the two "rounds" against each Sov) you can have no losses or lose 2 ludas, 1 najin, 7 moskits (chain reactions) and 3 A5s. That's an insane difference in outcomes... The best strategy is probably just baiting out the migs with Shanghais and taking out all of them before trying to move on the 2nd Sov. Since after the initial wave the AI doesn't move his remaining Sov+2nanuskas, it's fairly feasible and wins on points while destroying the plane squadron. If you don't take more than 700pts in losses (or so) it's total victory and the last Sov gets ejected from Vladivostock anyway.

i wanted so badly to like this game, but its fing terrible programming results in any target i attack with a plane spam blinking loss of los for no reason other than the computer wants to break the targeting of anything firing at it...the most annoying fing thing the ai does though is the prayer rockets that they fire at nothing and then all of a sudden rockets are descending from heaven and happen to all hit your units even though they are no where near you according to the game
