He took it all in like 30 turns using only militias and tier 1 cavalry. All his m2tw campaigns are basically blitz campaigns. He never recruits gunpowder units, heavy infantry or tier 3 cavalry because by that time, the campaign is pretty much over and u have watched 30 hours of content of a guy cheesing his way to victory with only militias and tier 1 cavalry. And It gets boring after a while. On this campaign for example, he never recruits a single HRE unique unit. When he started playing Warhammer i got excited because for once he wasnt blitzing. But thats just because farming levels is the way to cheese warhammer and thats what he is after. So instead we see him attacking the same city over and over for 60 turns and killing some rebels every now and then. Until his lords are all max level and he has the tech and the economy to sustain the cheese stacks. He should just change the name of his channel to Legend of Cheese. Thats why he never plays multiplayer. Cause he cant cheese another human the same way he does the AI. He would get his ass handed over to him and people would call him Legend of punching bags.

upgrade a church in at city to the max. and when you recruit a priest from that city, they're more likely to get into the college of cardinals. and if you recruit 20 priests from that city you can control the college of cardinals and therefore ensure that every Pope is from the Reich

merchants are usefull specificaly (and really only,) for getting the guilds. having the HQ merchant guild bassicaly gives you a market upgrade for every settlement nation wide. this adds about .5% to pop growth, and can add thousands to the income.

I find it interesting that in my native tounge the HRE is called the German-Roman empire, wich is a much more precise term of what it was on it's creation, Basicly Otto the 1st united the Kingdom of Germany and the Kingdom of Italy into one empire, and Rome was in it's boundries on creation so it made sence to call it German-Roman empire.

I'm currently playing this same campaign and Milan decided to attack me. In the next 3 turns I totally destroy their asses, and when I'm about to siege Milan, the asshat pope comes and tells me to stop attackin them if I don't want to be excommunicated :/ Anyone knows how bad it is to be excommunicated in the game? Or if you can be accepted back in the church?

It really depends on what exactly you mean, Turks and Russia have rough starting positions and really light troops to start with, but if you're good with horse archers Turks is actually kind of easy as long as you don't turtle. I'm not legend, but I saw no one else answered.

@LegengofTotalWar 1.) what's the toughest odds battle that you won against the AI in campaign mode in M2TW, field battle preferrable not siege. 2.) what do you think about the forts and watchtowers in total war campaigns, obviously in blitz campaigns forts might be useless assuming you stay on the offensive, but I suppose watchtowers can be effective. I like to build watchtowers in M2TW as HRE. The Balkans area has bad visibility in campaign map, and Poland can oftentimes stab you in the back. Spies serve the same purpose as watchtowers , though.

+steelpanther88 1. I dont remember and it kind of doesn't matter. I mean you can beat a whole army of crappy infantry with just 1 general's bodyguard. 2. Yeah I like building forts and watchtowers. It's something I think is missing from the newer titles. I mean, I know you can set up a defensive stance which will be forted if attacked, but its not the same as leaving a permanent fort garrisoned by just a few men of your choosing.

I remember that I once beat like 12-14 unit army of byzantines in M2TW. I had 3 hungarian horse archer units, it was quite funny, but it took some effort to rout the enemy army, though.

It blows my mind that such an experienced M2TW player completely dismisses merchants. Sure, if you stick them in bad resources close to your capital they'll earn you next to nothing. However put them in the right spots and they'll earn you a ton. I'm not even talking about the New World or even the Arguin region(south of the Moors), even the silk near Constantinople and especially Baghdad will earn you a ton of gold. Yes, micromanaging them is a bit annoying but the payoff is simply huge.

+Owl Raider Merchants suck. You can make a lot more money through conquest. If I've got spare florins I recruit more troops. No amount of merchants can top the money you make from sacking Rome or Jerusalem.

+LegendofTotalWar This is wrong on so many levels. First of all a well placed well trained merchant earns you nearly a thousand florins per turn every turn. You can only sack a city once(and than potentially lose it and sack again, etc, but for diminishing gains). Second of all the two aren't mutually exclusive. In fact prioritizing merchants early on and putting them in good spots gives you a lot more money to train troops with later on. Third of all it's not always feasible(both in term of faction choice and how the campaign evolves) to sack Rome or Jerusalem, especially early on.

What I always do is send a navy full of priests and merchants to Southern Egypt and make loads of Ivory, slaves etc while my priests get ranked up and convert Jerusalem meanwhile.

I always dealt with the mongols the most scummy and easy way: get settlements with ballista towers and watch them die trying to get in. If that isn't an option, I spamm spearmen and archers with a ballista unit in the settlements near their invasion. However, sometimes they beat that with sheer numbers. The other strategy is to obviously just go and kill all generals one by one in combat. It's funny how once I dreaded the mongols so hard and now I just take pleasure in finding new ways of crushing them.

Medieval 2 was also my favorite game, except for some terriible bugs. Cavalry sometimes gets bugged in this game becase instead of charging with lances they trot slowly into the enemy with their swords. This bug makes cavalry charges annoying. Also two-hander units should be stronger than what they are now. Shield infantry is almost always best. Gun units are shit in this game which is also annoying. Only spanish and portuguese muskets are good gun units in the game :(. But longbows killl everything.
