*) Banner of Eternal Flame has an area effect; while flame itself is not that useful, it increases damage by 8%

*) mount costs raise as you get more heroes; switch to none if you don't plan to fight
*) for flying mounts ensure your army have some land unit (can be a part of reinforcements)
*) Hellsteeds help negating overcast damage

Lords
*) bloodline lords can be save-scummed for better traits - I like Dread Incarnate; generic lords and heroes can be saved and loaded
*) level 3 Lahmian, Blood Dragon and Von Carstein lords get damage spells, which makes them single unit army starting from level 3
*) generic vampires get zombies at level 3, place them in the enemy blob, augment them with macabre dance and crown of command
