For anyone wondering what the Chains on Titus's Arm is for. They are Inquisitorial Chains symbolizing a Space Marine attempting to redeem himself from failure in combat. This would make sense from a lore standpoint as he violated the codex back in Space Marine I. Also the fact he's a Lieutenant. It's important to note that these chains are not restricted to just being a signal for a space marine redeeming himself. It's been seen in the Black Templar Chapter that they put chains on their weapons as a sign of dedication to battle, the chain can have different meanings. But as I said, in this setting the chains means Titus has failed in his duty and is on the route to redemption.

@Siberian Worth pointing out that this is possible because of the "Black Carapace", which is essentially a subdermal (just beneath the skin) series of Datajacks/cybernetics grafted directly into the Astarte's nervous system that hook up directly to the suit. When the Black Carapace is working right (And if it ain't, something seriously wrong has occurred) the Astarte's armor is effectively a second skin made out of tank armor. Keep in mind these guys can fire .75 caliber rifles ambidextrously singlehanded, the kind of shit you'd see fired from the prone and braced for hunting say an Elephants or light armored vehicles no problem even *without* their armor's ability to help dampen the recoil. If an Astartes pattern bolter's rounds were any larger they could just about be classified as small cannons akin to those black powder artillery pieces you saw fired from the rear of the battlefield in Napoleonic warfare battlefields. We see such tech in later "Supersoldier" types such as Halo's Spartans (Who are almost pound for pound a rip from warhammer 40K's space marines). Even bare-handed, without their armor, Astartes could likely pull a man apart like a butterfly.... *and they're still massively outclassed* by many of Mankind's worst enemies. It's hard to portray Space Marines accurately because unlike modern special forces or in some Sci-fi settings, each chapter specializes to some degree or another in one field of expertise, Kind of like how say this French group specializes in hostage rescue whereas a Canadian group deals in eliminating HVT (High Value Targets) but with absolutely extreme levels of cybernetic and psychological conditioning via hypnotherapy to a terrifying degree. Some chapters may be scary all the same on Terra Firma but if you pit them against another ship in a boarding action where they specialize they are absolutely god damned terrifying in how well they can hijack the ship's own systems against it's defenders and have fine-tuned their weapons for boarding actions.

The only problem I see is it would be hard to come up with a narrative that is interesting for a single marine. You are their to serve and War is all there is. Marines when not in combat are training and praying, not the most rewarding of stories. I think an Strategy RPG would be better. Sort of like Dawn of War II but instead of just a Marine let you create and manage maybe a smaller chapter of Space Marines, and you have to build them up. You could even have the option to fall to the lore of Chaos if you want, as well as always under threat of your chapters destruction. Say if you lose to many marines, you go extinct.
@TNAralwaysfun2 жыл бұрын
@@DustinBarlow8P yeh I get what you mean but Space Marine was a pretty dope game as FPS and narrative story was pretty good. Thatguy is right, it would be like being an atheist or someone who passively believes in God but thinks most of it are just stories actually seeing a real angel. The book Fifteen Hours goes into a lot of that, how many guardsmen scoff at the idea of the Astartes and some don't even actually believe the Emperor is still alive. My god, I had forgotten how good the story of this game was. Had been immersed in this as one of my favorite MP games of the early 2010s that the SP has fallen from memory. Re-watching this has just rekindled fond memories - such an immersive story with great character development and thought provoking twists that challenge the traditional mindset of the Space Marine. Titus has always been one of my favorite, and was always great to see as a featured Chapter. As in most GW games, it's often the Blood Ravens that get the screen time. Would dearly love to see a SM2. I recall there were plans, but shortly scrapped due to all the AAA alignments happening at the time (?) . One major flaw in the 1st installment that should be very easy to fix - invest in infrastructure and offer more than P2P MP connections. Those were truly the game's biggest issues (latency) . @@stillwatersrundeep001 It's not obligatory, it's deserved. Hammer and Bolter is low budget animation with boring mediocre stories, Angels of death is willed to life by Richard Boylan to the point of reusing audio from Helsreach. Even this was not enough as the audio quality of the series is beyond abhorent. Only half decent show is the Exodite. The production quality nor the quantity does not reflect well on GW. They either skimp on money for these projects, trying to milk the IP and hope to be bought by some larger company or straight up don't give a fuck. None of these even approach the audiovisual quality of Lord Inquisitor, choreography and action of Sodaz's work or lore accuracy of Death of Hope. And these were single man/small team projects running on pocket money. WH+ is an utter failure. And we should rub GW's face in it for a long time. They made their bed and they should lie in it.

its hard to take seriously. its history and makeup is ridiculous. its too much for one, not knowing the lore to get into it. there's too much to learn for a newbie. even for me.

Can't wait for Cavill's Warhammer cinema universe. Yet out of all his projects he is doing the most argued lore I have seen in a community. This will be great.

Guardsman: we've lost a square, we can't hold it *spacemarines arrived* Guardsman: I mean, we CAN STRIKE BACK!
@daddyraksa22282 жыл бұрын
It's a really bad sign if an ork invasion hits your planet. But when a Space Marine chapter lands that can mean 2 things depending on the chapter: 1. You are saved and can soon go back to work and praising the emperor. 2. PLANETARY EXTERMINATUS (If it's orks or tyrannids most likely this will happen)
@TheMygoran2 жыл бұрын
2. I wouldn't say that. If the Inquisition delcares your planet for Exterminatus, they won't send Space Marines down. They send Viral-Bombs, or heat the Planets Core up until it bursts. If they still send Astartes, it means they havn't given up on your World yet. Or... something on this world is worth saving before they do it
@taliawtf69442 жыл бұрын
Less so with Orks, there have been more than a few worlds where the orks landed and got wrecked only to leave spores for feral orks to grow. You can never really purge the orks off a world they will always grow back... Like green space herpies... Of course that makes the Nids space aids since the moment they make landfall it's all over but the planetary genocide.

The fact that the Inquisitor, and Gray Knights did not remove Titus' weapon, alone suggests that they all know he is not Chaos tainted. If anything, he was touched by the Emperor. By the same token, the Inquisitor's comments to Leandros also suggest contempt at the behavior of the young Marine. Basically, this means that the Inquisitor and his group are just going through the 'motions' here, and have no real question of Titus' not being tainted. It's also entirely possible that Titus would go on to join the Grey Knights himself. In later canon materials, Titus would be reduced to the rank of Lieutenant, and would also become one of Guilliman's first Primaris Marines. As for Leandros, his failure to actually follow the codex (Which said that suspicion of Chaos should be reported to a Librarian first, and not the Inquisition) would haunt him. He also failed in the attempt to become a Primaris Marine, and it is implied that he died in the attempt, having been "found wanting" by Guilliman.

Did you pull that bit about Leandros presumably dying in shame and the Inquisition being on Titus’ side out of your ass because that is never stated anywhere Did you read this on CoDa or something 🙄

I can imagine that the Guardsman sees this as divine providence. Adeptus Astartes (Space Marines) are seen as literal angels in the Imperium of Man, since they are seldom seen my regular humans. The Astartes are only called in when all other options outside of complete planetary annihilation have failed. So just picture that you're a regular soldier staring a ever evolving extraterrestrial horror staring you down with all intents to eat you and everyone you hold dear, when suddenly the Emperor's angels of death arrive and save you. Let alone the fact that you watch two beings that were created to be the perfect examples of the purpose they were made for (Tyranids as the perfect consumers and killing machines, and Astartes as the perfect artisans of war), you are also saved for the moment and can pray to the Emperor for sending salvation your way.
