This was a really nice boxed game. I wish GW had released some maps and maybe an extra add-on or two to give it more life. Cynically, they didn't because it was just intended to move you into KT, but there really is a place for smaller, simpler boxed games that are more advanced than the Space Marine Adventures series, but not as deep as KT or 40k.

So my son (9) and I are wanting to try fireteam because kill team is probably a little much for him. Could the melee combat in kill team be used in fireteam?

I believe they're the same rules between the games. From what I've seen Fireteam is almost exactly killteam with the movement phase done differently.

@@planktonic-larvae no the fireteam melee is just like shooting. In kill team there are no saves. It is a back and forth strike or parry with your dice.

They are thematically similar, but Fireteam is a quicker, more streamlined version of Kill Team.

Yeah, that's a decent comparison. If I had to state it bluntly, Kill Team is a miniature wargame, Fireteam is a board game.
