Dunno if you'll read this, but pro-tip: get *Thy Wrath Be Swift.* It's a node on the right side of the talent tree after the grenades. Basically, it prevents you from getting stunned by melee and ranged attacks (the text says it's only melee but it works for ranged as well), so you won't be stunlocked by gunners and you'll actually be able to move and seek cover.

i really hope that when Space Marine 2 comes out it blows up to such a degree it wakes GW up and has them greenlighting 40K pitches for games left right and centre. 40K as an IP has the untapped potential to blow COD,Battlefield,Halo and Gears of war out of the water like the bismark did to the HMS hood. 40K is essentially the sleeping Giant that could crush everyone beneath it but it hasn't just outta sheer laziness. 40K is the Unique IP that can be literally ANYTHING from an Open world RPG,First or Thrid person shooter RTS games, (god forbid Turn based games stop it GW) just imagine a 40K game like Halo reach where you get to customise your own space marine.

You're forgetting to mention the trials. Most Chapters's trials have a initiate mortality rate, and some are just insane, like The Exorcists Chapter putting a Daemon in you and making you repel the Daemon out of you, or less you'll get possessed then killed.

From what I remember, big E was working on a webway gate on terra to make it usable by the imperium, but magnus broke the seales the emperor put in place and daemons started pouring in. The overall webway is still pretty decently intact, or else the eldar wouldn't be able to just walk shit like wraithknights straight unto battlefields or even get through the webway without assault. There are still dark, infested corners of it that have been overtaken as the millennia raged on though. Magnus breaking the seals on the Palace however broke all semblance of what could have been though, and the entire reason he's on the throne beyond his mortal wounds is to hold back the Immaterium. It's why he couldn't participate in the siege of terra and why Malcador had to sit on the throne while he battled Horus.

To add to the discussion about the Emperor being reborn, there was a comment from a Chaos Space Marine sorcerer in one of the more recent novels (The Lion: Son of the Forest by Mike Brooks, would highly recommend you check it out) which suggests that he knows the Emperor is immortal and will actually benefit humanity if he is killed: “One of the Imperium’s many mistakes was in imprisoning the Master of Mankind on the Golden Throne; the Emperor must be allowed to die. Death is only the beginning for one such as Him. Only then can He ascend fully into the warp as the true god He is. Man, i wish i could be in this party and explain the lore. Not because you guys dont understand it but because i know it would be fun to discuss it. And to clear up some of it, the emperor is a perpetual and will be reborn if killed, so its a good thing. It does however mean the astronomicon (basically a psychic lighthouse that allows the imperium to travel the warp) would go out, and while hes being reborn the imperium would be in disarray. As for becoming a space marine, with the technology they have you can only be vonverted into a space marine if you are a very young age and essentially grow into it. I believe the oldest age is 12. So much like the jedi they kinda kidnap kids. Even then, it is extremely difficult to survive the procedures and training. Also a zealout definetly wouldnt be allowed by most chapters because space marines are typically more secular, they dont see the emperor as a god, more a incredibly powerful man who created them and the primarchs. They dont like the ecclesiarcy and its relgious craziness, and are outside of its vintrol so they dont have to follow their doctrine. Except the black templars, but they are the black templars so theres not much changing that

You also forgetting that the if the Emperor stopped being alive on the Golden Throne for even a moment, it would mean that the Warp portal to the dimension the Emperor was working on, before Magnus did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING WRONG (he got tricked by Tzeentch into blasting through its barriers because it was the only way to reach him fast enough to warn about the incoming betrayal from Horus, my boi didn't know 😢), would be left open and chaos deamons would flood Holy Terra. So unless they managed to somehow warn the entirety of the Emperium to hold on warp travelling and got together a massive force of all kinds of forces, like Space Marines and Adeptus Custodes to kill any passing deamons and all kinds of powerful enough psykers to stop the hole from consuming Terra, in order to hold on long enough until he came back to life, the blow to mankind would be just too great. So unless the Emperor gets a text-to-speech device installed, I don't really see it happening.

​@@lando8295read some 30k novels about the War in The Webway. Even with Titan legions supporting the Custodes and Sisters of Silence, they were losing. The whole reason the Custodes didn't partake in the Siege of Terra was due to all of them being occupied fighting the War in The Webway for years. Simply put, there are more Daemons than there are Custodes to cull them, and for every Custodes lost, that's a massive hit to their forces. That's also not forgetting the Super Nuke Vulcan placed on the Golden Throne. If the Emperor were to actually die, and the Golden throne fail, then a bomb that destroys our entire Solar System would go off.

To answer a question Zanny had: Yes, adults can become Space Marines and have in the lore. It is highly preferred by Space Marine chapters that their initiates be as young as possible because the risk of mortality becomes drastically higher the more matured the person being augmented is. However, we have named figures who had been modified post adulthood. Magnus the Red's former mentor for example became a member of the Thousand Sons before their fall to Chaos. Basically, yeah you could become a Space Marine but you'd have a rather high chance of not surviving the process. It'd also be difficult to find a Space Marine chapter willing to take the chance because if you die it's a massive waste of Gene-Seed material on what amounted to nothing but a corpse. Your best bet would probably be the Ultra Marines because of the fact that their Gene-Seed is the most plentiful or the Salamanders because they're perpetually on the verge of extinction as a Chapter and need more bodies.

4:22 So I know you’ve probably heard this from about 1000 other sweaty nerds but none of them really explained it well that I saw so…. The Reason They don’t just let the Emperor Die is as follows: 1. They (the people close to the emperor) know… One of the emperor’s Primarch’s (The big dudes in charge of the space marines) was also an imortal (Called a perpetual) who died and respawned several times during the “Horus Heresy”. 2. There isn’t actually a set timer on how long it takes for a “Perpetual” to respawn, Imagine if humanity killed the emporer and he didn’t come back for like 10,000 years… so they were just left there without him for all that time… that would suck. 3. In order to navigate “The Warp” (Space hell) and basically fast travel between solar systems, you need to be able to see where you’re going. People with special mutations called “Navigators” have this ability, however, given space hell is unsurprisingly filled with gnarly daemons and shit, it’s like trying to sail a ship through a foggy ocean. The emporer, being so psychically powerful, his energy extends to the warp and basically acts as a lighthouse. TLDR, You kill the emperor, you can no longer travel between solar systems (Without sucking up to the Xenos) 4. The emperors chair is basically a cork on a gigantic failed project to try and avoid the problem above that got (albeit accidentally’ ruined by the primarch of the Thousand Sons (The bad guys in Space Marine 2) and invaded by a metric shit ton of deamons. If the emporer leaves the throne, not only do the deamons come spilling out, but a device build by his perpetual son (who was a master blacksmith) goes off and destroys the planet, ahnillating both earth and turning that part of space into a demon rave zone. 5. Respawning is incredibly harsh on the mental state of a perpetual, given the emporer’s mind is already kind of shattered, this would likely result in bad mojo. 6. Ultimately, the Emporer’s actual final goal is to ascend to become an actual god, and if an recent book release is anything to go by, he’s actually getting kind of close. You have to keep in mind that the emperor in his mortal state, while an incredibly strong psycher and brilliant scientist, is kind of just a guy. And up against the actual, literal… God’s of Chaos, let’s just say that’s an uphill battle… this coupled with the fact that the other races, especially the Xenos, have been power scaling up for the past several years means the Imperium’s power would be vastly reduced. Keep in mind that while hospitalized, the emporer is still shitass powerful, and on his road to Godhood has gained some pretty cool abilities, like the power to physically manifest blessings and smite people all the way across the galaxy, as well as the ability to maintain living saints like Saint Celestine and Commissar Cain who are basically living superheroes. And if he really needs to talk to someone anyways, he can deliver messages to his personal bodyguards (The Custodes)’s dreams, who then relay that info to whoever needs to know it, hitch has saved the Imperium several times. TLDR: Killing the Emperor is a bad plan.

Th reason that the Emperor isn't bein reborn is because his immense psychic power is one of the only things holding the Warp in tact. If he were to die and be reborn mankind would not be able to travel. That is why he was back on Earth building the Webway for most of the heresy. So that mankind would not have to be cut off from eachother again, and all of his hard work to bring them back together was not in vain.

So the reaosn the emperor doesnt come back is because if he DOES die to be reborn(hes a perpetual - the ones that revive like Vulkan), he will comeback most likely as a chaos god or a god in general in some form or another and he doesnt want that. This is of course, all that I have at the moment in terms of lore on it, he has specifically said he cant comeback yet for that reason AND if he dies and no one replaces him on the throne there is a giant warp hole under the thrown and he is keeping the entities in it at bay, if he gets up they will food terra.

There's another reason why they don't let the emperor die, which is that the revival takes time, and no one knows how long. If the Emperor is dead for only a couple of minutes, that's tens-to-hundreds of thousands of ships lost in the warp all at once. There'd also be nothing holding the Eye of Terror back.

Astartes anonymous and Isander and Koda both do shorts going over Warhammer lore. I recommend Idander and Koda as there shorts are just recut segments from the main videos which are all long form lore (40 minutes to an hour long) focusing on single factions or characters. Anyway, in case zanny is wondering, space Mariens are taken as children, but only from certain planets (each chapter has a particular planet which provides children for them, some have multiple, some planets feed multiple chapters) go through gruelling training, then if they survive (depending on which chapter they are going into it ranges from high end spec ops training, except its 12 year olds instead of 25 year olds, to getting thrown into a desert and told "good luck"), they get given gene seed, If they don't immediately die from that, they get given a load of extra organs, and come out as a fully fledged space marine, ready to go out for there first 100 years of service, so that other space marines will take them seriously. Oh, and your reward for becoming a space marine? Centuries of constant conflict against the horrors of a galaxy engulfed in constant warfare, where the people you are charged to protect see you fighting and are overcome with intense dread because there is no way anything that was ever human can be that big whilst being that agile, that precise, or that fast.

Yes The Emperor, by virtue of being a Perpetual(maybe), was allowed to die on the throne he may come back. The drawback is that technically hes still being used as both the beacon for Warp Space FTL travel and keeping a portal into the warp in his basement thats constantly under attack from millions of demons closed. So yes he could come back, but to do so the Sol System with Holy Terra and Mars would fucking explode into a new Eye of Terror. Not... the best trade.

You're forgetting the Super Nuke Vulkan placed (something a lot of people forget apparently). If the Golden Throne were to ever go dark, the Nuke would go off, destroy not just Terra but the enitre Solar System, including Mars. Vulkan placed it there during the Heresy to ensure that if the Terra were to fall, the Traitors would get none of the strategic benefits.

Wether this is just a perceptual trick of His psychic powers or not is unclear, but an actual transformation wouldn't be a huge feat considering all the other sorcery He is capable of, such as altering his height at will.

About your question about adults becoming space marines; It is entirely possible to create space marines with adult candidates, however the likelihood of success is pretty fucking low. The reason space marine candidates are usually kids is because as children, their bodies are more prone to accept the implants and the gene-seed and whatnot as their bodies are still developing. Also because indoctrination is easier when they're little. At least, I think that's the case. You guys can correct me if I'm wrong about the lore.

Love to see Darktide getting some appreciation after so long, the gameplay loop is amazing. Higher difficulty Auric missions I think by default double the enemy spawn size for patrolling mobs and elites amongst them. It also comes with modifiers like waves of mutants, snipers, dogs, sometimes all at once!. Oh and I almost forgot the modifier that lets special enemies like dogs ,snipers, mutants ,bombers, trappers and flammers all have a chance to instead spawn as plague ogryns, chaos spawn or beasts of Nurgle. Albeit with half their usual health...unless the devs forgor to update for the 3rd time that particular code and you end up fighting 2 chaos spawn, a beast of Nurgle and a plague Ogryn all at full health...spoiler we survived that and more bs until we got to the end if the mission waiting for an evac that never came because the game never stopped spawning enemies no matter how many or how fast we killed wave after wave after wave we slew. 30 minutes without rest or pause, numerous heroic rescues, interventions, dead eyed shots felling snipers across the map...all for naught. Carpal tunnel would take us all eventually so we chose our deaths and leapt the gap to the landing pad where we held on for about a minute before falling down as in Darktide no one does upper body day so let that be a lesson to you that 1 pull up could save your life.
