I like how Mortarion hated tyrants stuff and in his personal quest to destroy tyrants he ends up becoming one. I feel nurgles corruption of Mortarion was not only of body but also of his mind.

Agreed. I feel Mortarion might've been a bit o a naive idealist for a good portion of his life.

There is a flashback in the short story were Mort kills the demon he captured were Malcador says this. Something along the lines of Angron was physically harmed and Curze was mentaly broken but Mort had a bit of both. Its kind of insinuated thats why they kept Mort so long before giving him the Deathguard, to heal him. Then Mort accused Malcador of having a secret spell book and ran off like Zoidberg. Crazy bastard...

Great job Grimm. Mort is one of the harder heresy characters 2 understand because he's fundamentally unrealistic. I think that has a lot to do with how he has been used in the series to this point and I have no doubt that he can become a much more complex character. Angron was the stupidest character in 40K until betrayer and I think that the Primarch books have totally given facelifts to Lorgar and Perturabo so there's no reason to think it couldn't happen for him. Until that story comes out though he's a raging lunatic in a tinfoil hat and the only thing that is interesting is that everybody let it happen.

There will undoubtedly be a story at some point, either a Primarchs novella or a HH novel that deals with their holiday in the Warp, where they all cracked and turned evil to end the suffering. Agreed about Perturabo getting a lot of depth through his novella. Lorgar, on the other hand didn't gain much sympathy from me even after his novella. True it was all that asshole's Kor Phaeron's fault, but still.

GrimDark Narrator By facelift I dont mean the charecters motivations were redeemed, just clarified/redefined. Lorgars fuckery took a much more malitious tone after the idea that he manipulated Kor from the moment they met was revealed. I think the gratuitous child abuse was.... gratuitous but hes much less of a victim now. Still an asshole though.

Maybe I understood it a little bit different. While Lorgar was eventually gonna "wake up" despite Kor Phaeron's manipulation since he possessed a superior intellect and psychic powers, he still seemed a blank slate early on. If the more temperate guy (I forget his name but he was a slave who had been a teacher) would've been Lorgar's "father" instead of Kor Phaeron, he might've ended up a decent human being. The fact that on Colchis they literally and openly worshipped the Warp didn't help either.
