The dreadnought one is actually pretty self explanatory. All three machines are built for the sole purpose of delivering death and destruction to all who oppose them and inspire fear and dread into their enemies. The HMS Dreadnought is the earliest example of this. The executor is technically classified as a super star destroyer, but unless its up against a heavily damaged A-wing with no shields and caught in a gravity well, its the most dangerous thing in a fight, and the 40K dreadnaught is one mean cybernetic, heretic and xeno killin machine.

The design essentially made all existing battleships obsolete. The name dreadnought was inspired by the fact that she could take on any challenger with minimal risk - it literally means 'fear nothing.' Warhammer's dreadnoughts most likely use the name because they are defining death and they, too, have no fear. The star wars thing is probably because modern star wars is poorly researched. Incidentally, the original dreadnought never fired her world changing battery in anger - though she did sink an enemy ship by ramming. The current HMS Dreadnought is one of the Royal Navy's three ballistic missile submarines, which we sincerely hope will follow in the tradition of not firing it's main battery - which is an array of trident nuclear missiles.

My friend, you are aware that this is not the first time that a major faction has been retconned? Be mad at the current ones as well, or are you only like this because of the female gender being mentioned. Wrath of Magnus says, hey, Thousand Sons are poor and don't produce their own shit. They usually steal 'em and they don't last. Then 8e goes, hey, the Thousand Sons don't produce their own engines. And then this. with 9e effectively retconning it all. Oh, and not least, the Rubricae. Who were described as slow, purposeful in quite literally all the Ahriman novels. No thoughts. They even had self-healing (which is literally NEVER mentioned again). The short story All Is Dust exemplifies it all. Slow, steady, inaccurate automata. And then this. Now they're suddenly as fast as normal marines, accurate as fuck and fight as effectively as normal marines in melee? What? Where was the outrage to this? GW has retconned shit for the Thousand Sons every single codex since fucking 7th edition, and even further back still. Where were the legions of people who now cry havoc over femstodes? Who touted lore as immutable, sacred, retcons cringe and bad - and here comes GW retconning out the ass with just ONE example, the Thousand Sons. I could name dozens of more. And each time, GW acted like it was always the case. Stop being mad as soon as women are mentioned, you will find happiness then.

When the Space Marine Primarchs were first mentioned, they were just the leaders of Space Marine chapters, not the sons of the Emperor. A teeny-tiny Leman Russ miniature was even produced for the first edition of Warhammer 40k, holding the leashes of two very small wolves. So I guess your favourite Primarch is just a normal guy, as the original Space Marines were simply human soldiers. They were very elite soldiers, sure, but the special Space Marine organs that make them into transhuman badasses weren’t part of their lore until midway through first edition 40k. Accordingly, they only had toughness three for the game’s first edition.

Since the first Ork supplements, Ork lore has referred to a lost race called the ‘Brain Boyz’ which was responsible for Ork technology and perhaps even their genetics. Modern lore points to this being the Old Ones, who created the ‘Krork’ during their war against the C’tan and Necrons during the War in Heaven. But the War in Heaven was made up during third edition 40k - before that, who were the Brain Boyz’? Tiny, idiotic greenskins called Snotlings. Early Ork lore in books like Waaagh! Da Orks and ‘Ere We Go! states that a rare fungus gave the Snotlings the intellect needed to rule Ork society and take it into the stars. Unfortunately for them, this temporary advantage in brains didn’t help overcome the Orks’ advantage in brawn, who ultimately ended up on top of the heap - and the brainifying fungus died out.

It should never be a thing(and will never be), it adds absolutely nothing(keep it out, real fans don't need mark cysts ruining another franchise). Besides they've always been men and only men. Plus the lore hints that they're just like why the Thunder Warriors, Primarchs and Space Marines are all men. It takes the male genome to make them. There are already two only female factions. No need make one of the only male factions female too. No need to remove the uniqueness of the franchise and setting. Doing so is like taking many delicious dinners of different varieties, put them in a blender and serving it as mush(inclusivity). Truly good music doesn't play note, truly beautiful paintings don't use every single color and shade and truly good franchises and settings don't use or need to include everything.
