Warhammer Fantasy 6th Edition Battle Report | Vampire Counts VS. Dwarfs

It's 2,000 points of Dwarfs VS 2,000 points of Vampire Counts in a game of Warhammer Fantasy Battles 6th edition. A Strigoi Vampire Count approaches the base of the mountain home of the Dwarves. This Vampiric beast is said to be so powerful it has the Regeneration rule! The Count is accompanied by Ghouls who have all been given a back story. There are the bogey eaters, the Age of Sigmar players and the unemployed Hillbillies who search between a rock and a hard place for their dignity. The Old World lives!

These are the most fun battle reports I found so far. Usually they are overlong, dry, and kind of dull to someone who doesn't know the game well. But yours are fast, funny, easy to follow. I hope to see many more. Sidenote - I really like the dwarf models. I was never a big fan of how Warhammer depicts elves, but a dwarf army like this one just looks top notch.

Every time I watch a battle report with shooting armies I feel they don't live up to the points spent on them. They're just a squishy unit that gives fast cavalry and chaff something to attack. I don't see enough of a damage output or a threat to fielding much of them in the future. Despite the fact that the ranged units failed miserably in this game the dwarfs still came out on top by a large margin is lucky I suppose. I just feel that for the war machines and two shooting units another block of infantry would have been more useful. form a line and hold, the VCs would have to smash through the dwarf frontage and all those dire wolves and bats would have been pretty much pointless. Every game now, the infantry show up and ranged wets the bed. I think the game could do with dropping the long ranged modifier, or the ballistic skill table should be shifted. There is just little to no impact beside a few niche units that can take out monsters like cannons and bolt throwers that would actually hit. You typically only get like 3 turns of shooting with a war machine and if you miss 2/3rds of the time its not fun. Not to mention the ranges are so short and the deployment is so squished there just isn't any depth of play to ranged units in this game. It's my only gripe they seem to have dialed in other aspects very nicely.

That was hard to watch poor Vampire Counts might I suggest this approach to fighting Dwarfs Strigoi are great. This army is some what compact but should make good use of the cursed book while fighting in proximity to it. Dwarfs are an uphill easy mode against Undead, but if you get all 3 of your bricks in line of battle you chaff should mute his shooting. @@DwainiacWarhammer The necromancer can be any where he wants just not in a combat brick. The Ghouls are a good vehicle to transport him to a shady spot. If you can get him out on the flanks to make a flanking unit of zombies to go after war machines or gunner squads that is Ideal. strategy 1: Deliver your 3 bricks into line of battle all with in 6 inches of the cursed book (this also make grave guard minus one to hit with in 6 inches) 2: The Strigoi is WS 7 next to the cursed book he is Minus one to hit dwarf characters can only hit him on a 5+ be mindful that you can heal him as well. Strength 6 infinite hate makes him a combat beast. The wraith is a model that can't be killed by normal unit models so he holds the book next to the Strigoi. Plus he has 3 attacks with a great weapon:) 3. Never send your core units into fight with the grave guard don't flank with wolves and give dwarfs free combat resolution to kill more guys. 4. try to raise undead units to parry things away from your flanks or to keep from getting counter charged on the flank 5. Remember that ghouls and bat swarms are alive and can bait a charge, ( they can use the flee reaction) 6. the thrall can go into the unit that does not have the banner of barrows to give it some punch again infinite hate STR6 WS6 = 1-2 DWARFS DEAD per CQC 7. wolves can deflect an enemy unit to the left or right. fell bats can fly 20 to the war machines and reaming wolves can help out on those war-machines. 8. try to make that Zombie brick huge, because: "I out number, I cause fear" to score an auto break 9. you will have to learn how to keep most of your army within 12" of your strigoi, so you can make full uses of marching T1. 10. the wolves move 18'' get with in 6 and a half inches bate a charge try to stagger the dwarf units line of battle

The term beardy was coined for good reason. Dwarf characters are too powerful. It's best just to keep them at distance with their nubby little legs. Your narration/commentary makes me want to get a bunch of my own booger-eaters.

I love the style of the battle report but the lack of basic stratigic movement is outrageous.😢 The bat swarm don't fly at 20" ... you miss some rules like fear and the battle stendard bearer just chill in the middle, he could join a warmachine and resist the bats, the thrall could join the age od simgmar players❤ and be usefull instead than stay with the skeleton. I mean it as suggestion, keep playing guys!

Thanks for the tips! The Bat Swarm didn’t fly 20” though. It flew 10”. The Dwarfs had an item that made the Lord’s unit immune to fear and terror - forgot to mention that. The Thrall could have gone with the Ghouls but the risk of combat res crumble was too great if he joined the AOS players. He could have saved the boogie eaters if he’d gone with them though 😂
