Something you guys keep messing up is that unit banner must be placed in the center with the musician and champion next to it regardless of characters in the unit. I think it mostly doesn't matter except when you have characters in the unit or you are pulling casualties, but.... p198 Models in the fighting rank which are not in base contact with an enemy, must attack the closest enemy unit. p147

That combat between the GG and the 2 units of Marauders plus sorcerer was a bit of a mess. Firstly Luka forgot the +1 initiative from the Mortis Engine, that would mean the GG could have swung before the front unit of Marauders. The Wight Lord would have swung first reducing attacks back too. Then Luka counted more casualties than he took and there was more wounds rolled from Steve than there should have been (most of the issues were from Luka though) The actual difference in combat res was 12, plus any extra casualties from the GG who should have been able to swing. Then minus the D3 from the BSB. Only 7 GG were killed so there would have been GG left in the unit, probably even more consider the GG would have killed a couple reducing combat rez. GG could have been rezzed and all of those GG would have swung first in the next round. It had a huge impact on that fight

This is why you have to know your own rules. to give them credit, they are playing tons of different armies all the time so hard to keep all that in your head and they are trying to keep the flow of the battle moving on stream instead of it Turning into man reads book.

@@andrewlittleton4690I know. Luka constantly forgot the +1 Initiative and tends to assume the Vampire Counts WS and I are low so doesn’t check and gets it wrong. I try not to get frustrated as I can understand that, they have a load of armies, would be checking books constantly and ultimately are trying to produce an entertaining batrep. I found this fight particularly bad though because it seemed like Luka just entirely lost focus and it led to a massive swing. However, Steve said in the pre show that Luka was just finishing a game so I’m guessing he was filming for Miniwargaming, he was probably tired and I can’t say I wouldn’t have been exactly the same after a long day.

Luka kept saying he gets +5 to cast hand of dust, but It's a bound spell, so only +2.

@martinbomark9594 that is what I was saying, and correct. But Luka was lamenting that if he had even rolled a 4 any of those times instead of a 3 it would have gone off, which is not correct.

Not that I really think anyone should do this for thematic reasons but you can take khemri skull catapults as allies to vampire counts. Skull catapult Ld debuff + spiritual vortex + spirt leach = -4 Ld Add in terror for combat and -5 ld or wailing dirge at -6 ld.

I thought about that for fun in a VC list too, but then I looked at the allies section in the core rulebook, allies have to follow their own grand army list based on the size. So while 125pts is exactly what you are able to take for rare for your allies points wise, you can only take 0-2 screaming skull catapults per 1,000 points. (Which is not quite the same as 0-1 per 500, for example you cannot take 3 at 1,500).

Allies seem like a good way to break and minmax the game. Eg, Chaos has no cheap horde infantry. If I took allies, I would probably have Horrors or Nurglings, or Giant Rats/ Clanrats from Skaven, and a catapult for 100ish points that I do not have access to as WoC. The other way around WoC has a bunch of nice S5+ options, or just a Daemon prince because that is a beast in addition to any rank and file block...

@benjaminboyle7329 yeah, anything that requires you having 1,000 points is off the table unfortunately, since you only get 500 points of allies in 2k. This takes a ton of options away from allies. I see a lot of people not accounting for it, including content creators. If instead of putting it as 0-2 per 1,000 they had put it as 0-1 per 500 you absolutely could. But as is, it's set up: 0-999: 0 1,000-1,999: up to 2. 2,000-2,999: up to 4.

Grave guard can take a banner up to 50! points (not 25p) and Magic items up to 25p.

What do you guys think about the Mortis Engine? The buffs it gives are nice but you pay so many points for its combat stats and wizards don't want to be in combat because they can't unbind, can't use Invocation of Nehek and can only cast assailment spells. So would you take the Mortis Engine for its buffs alone or is it only "worth" it if you then build your Necromancer to be a combat character?

Luka did it wrong. It hits on a 2 not a 5 which completely would have changed the combat.

Unless they are using an olde printed version of the Ravening Hordes book, Chaos don't have to take a Chaos Giant, it is not compulsory...

Another good’un.! Great game to watch …The only thing I think you did wrong was the charge of the two knights + dogs into the black knights. I don’t think you can legally charge like that. Pg 126 sets out the strict requirements of charging. Namely points 2 &3 “must move by the shortest route possible” AND “must move in a straight line” the dogs did NOT do either . The caveat on pg 130 of multiple chargers doesn’t override these points, you still need to do both. As that knight unit could not have wheeled around the dogs to make contact they would have failed the charge. The other knight Unit were fine though. Also, even IF that chariot had been in range he couldn’t declare a charge, as even if a unit will move out the way before it charges, you still actually need LOS to the unit you wish to charge and remember units block los… let me know your thoughts on this 😊

Some feedback to the commentsection. If you comment something like "I dont think unit X could charge unit Y" Please include a timestamp. I also need to learn the rules. And a quick 47:30 ,or whatever the time might be ,would help.

Good battle rep, but if you have the luxury to record your rolls and you manage to catch your mistakes you should really just fix them. It takes a maximum of 5 mins and helps both you and your viewers in my opinion( I am refering to the grave guard combat resolution). Especialy since this is a new edition and we are all still learning the rules.

At 2:26, the dogs CANNOT make that extreme wheel to the left to make room for both mauraders. The Dogs would have to maximize FIRST amd doing so would only allow one of the mauraders in.

Rulebook (page 130) Multiple Charging Units: "When two or more units are charging the same arc of a single enemy unit, they are considered to move SIMULTANEOUSLY and both units (in this case 3 charging units) must try to bring THE MAXIMUM NUMBER OF MODELS FROM BOTH SIDES into base contact". Also on page 126: "a charging unit must endeavour to bring THE MAXIMUM NUMBER OF MODELS FROM BOTH SIDES from both sides into base contact..........To faciliate this A CHARGING UNIT MAY WHEEL ONCE, at ANY POINT, during its move". As it says above the dogs may wheel at ANY POINT during their charge move in order to bring THE MAXIMUM NUMBER OF MODELS FROM BOTH SIDES into base contact. Also when there is multiple charging units, all units are considered to be moving simultaneously, so the dogs don't have to maximize first and can make that extreme wheel in order to make/leave space for the other marauder unit to reach combat -> maximizing the number of models from both sides. I hope you got my point, English is not my first language.
