While dying from Clan Pestilens does sound horrifying, I might argue that the fates suffered by Clan Moulder slaves to be a bit worse, particularly in Hell Pit. "I Have No Mouth And I Must Scream" levels of worse.

I think Clan Pestilens worships Nurgle in the same way a lot of Norscans do, they might pretend (or outright believe) that they worship an aspect of the Horned Rat, but it's the same things when, say, Norscan worshippers of Tzeentch claim that they worship "The Crow". It's essentially a semantics issue.
