Having old school Gotrek in an AoS army without Felix is depressingly appropriate.

Kinda reminds me of good old times when i was learning to paint on metal dudes because they were more resistant to stripping then plastic. @MaskedRiderChris3 күн бұрын
Yup, first time I ever dropped a metal miniature into acetone I learned the hard way to remove the base first as well! I've yet to try using acetone to strip a mini because primer doesn't want to entirely come off...? Or do I just have to get into those crevices and get granular removing it? This reminds me of how I just rebuilt a couple of models I'd been slacking on because I hate pinning metal models and I finally realized it was because my drill bit was too old and dull and needed replacing.
@eBayMiniatureRescuesКүн бұрын
If the model is metal then throw it in, the primer should come up. If it's not coming out of the crevices it's probably drying before you can get in there deep enough to scrape the paint out, or it's sticky. That's why I like the wire brush, it gets in those cracks, anything that doesn't take off you probably won't even notice after being primed again because it's so small. I did the same thing with a model the other day trying to pin it. I got mad and then realized it was the drill bit being totally dull, swapped it out and it was like butter!
@MaskedRiderChrisКүн бұрын
@@eBayMiniatureRescues There's also the issue of getting the drill bit to bite into the metal instead of just slipping and sliding all over the place. And then drilling in at the wrong angle/place! Fun.

Just don't leave the older lead based miniatures in acetone for too long, and make sure to flush with running water, or the mini will just become a unrecognizable lump.
@eBayMiniatureRescuesКүн бұрын
good call! I haven't had anything terrible happen yet but I'm also leaving these in for a day at most. I'd hate to lose a mini to pitting and degradation though.

@@eBayMiniatureRescues Had a mate in the early 90's who left a mini in some acetone to strip the paint off it, and forgot about it. Please show how you did the skin. I was waiting for that part, and it just jumps ahead to perfect skin 🤷🤦
@eBayMiniatureRescuesКүн бұрын
The only place that jumps ahead a little was from the airbrush step. Darker skin, lighter on top, then a glaze of redish purple in the shadows for the definition, bright skin with a brush on top to define the muscles a little better. After that I didn't do anything else, what are you looking for specifically, I'm sure I can help.

@@eBayMiniatureRescues If it is from Lord of the Rings or a derivative property then it could be Dwarves. But those are Warhammer Fantasy Dwarfs or Dawi. It is an easy mistake to make because Games Workshop make both Dwarves and Dwarfs. But they are for different games systems and the figures are different scales.
