Great video! I think modern gamers will be able to have this itch scratched by League of Dungeoneers! It's pretty much the perfect combination of WHQ, AHQ, and DUN.

excellent work my friend, i am on such a journey to do a DIY WHQ build and i like your setup, Would you be able to do a video on how you did the cards through the website?
@DriveThruReview Жыл бұрын
I'll make a note to get to that at some point. Sorry to say that it might not be until summer. I've got a busy month or two coming up here. But, the trick is to use the Skat sized cards for just about all of the cards: Treasure, Monsters, etc...

Yeah I was backing Kickstarter after kicks daughter trying to find something that resembled Warhammer Quest and came to terms that out there is like it so I said screw it and just ended up buying it back during the pandemic with all the expansions and character packs cards all that stuff the only thing I am missing is the troll Slayer I even bought all of the models that were needed for orc Lord and catacombs because it came with cards but didn't come with that model boy that was expensive the hardest ones to find where the 1990 5-ish skeletons I have so much fun with this game I recommend it to anybody who can get their hands on one

Hi mate, thanks for the vid. If handy, appreciate if you can advise on the card size, gsm, sheen that you used for printing out the cards? Thanks.

Most of them are: Skat Size Cards2.32"×3.58" (58.9×90.9mm) Card stock: (S30) Standard Smooth Card finishing: MPC game card finish Those will match the originals.

Looks so cool. Quick question about the cards. Did you upload all the .png files individually or did you use a pdf structure to upload multiple cards at once? Can't seem to find a quick way to upload all the cards. Thanks for the help.
@rincewind4151 Жыл бұрын
I did similar and had to load all individually. There is an option for pdf but costs more and needs formatted. The featured cards I created (bestiary 1-10 and hero/warrior cards and equipment) are available in my MPC shop space 'cardify-rpg-cards'.
@DriveThruReview Жыл бұрын
Individually, but there is a mechanism to upload a "directory" of cards IIRC.

Ok, as someone lucky enough to have the original 1995 game I have a question and a few comments. First, exactly where did you get the extra finished room and event cards; they look very finished and "stock". (The great thing about the extra room cards is that they have characteristics that the original game rooms badly lacked.) Some comments. One of the issues I had with WHQ was that the game could have had much more in terms of tactical fighting choices (which, on first glance, it looks like LoD might have addressed). Instead, the rooms were very small and the monsters suddenly appeared on top of you - and you simply fight what is next to you. I was rather hoping your DIY project included aids to make combat encounters more tactically interesting - bigger rooms with rules for charging, aggressive/defensive stances, special character-based attacks, that kind of thing. Also, I sincerely hope your gaming focus and circumstances really allow you to stay with the project for some time to justify the amazing amount of stuff you have to play and create worlds. As I age my hobby motto has become "so many games, so little time" - and with your other games and now LoD sitting there (with perhaps a richer game experience than the 1995 ancestor that inspired it) it will be interesting to watch how far you are able to get. Get at 'er!

As far as the cards, those are all done through makeplayingcards.com. I have links to the files in the video description. But ya, I sold off all the originals I had, and then got those files (which include White Dwarf cards etc..) and printed them all together so they all had the same feel and card backs etc... LoD definitely has a lot more variety in terms of tactical combat (review next week probably). I actually enjoy the combat of WHQ once you level up a little bit and have more variety of monsters. I agree the rooms are always cramped though. I just need to allocate some painting time to finish up the models I have left. :)
