Warhawk Air Museum 2024 Memorial Day Flyover - Boise - Nampa - Idaho - Airailimages - P-40 - P-51

Each year Warhawk Air Museum at Nampa, Idaho, organizes a Memorial Day formation warbird flight over cemeteries, hospitals, and sites around Boise, Idaho to honor those military members we have lost.
This year's formation included Jim Thomas flying Warhawk Air Museum's P-40 "Sneak Attack", John Hinton flying the museum's P-40N "Parrot Head", John Maloney in the museum's P-51C "Boise Bee", and Mark Peterson flying his P-51 "Diamondback".
Watch for a large hawk over the Nampa Airport, seemingly in formation with the warbirds.
We pause to remember those we have lost, and we thank the Warhawk Air Museum team for making this annual event possible.

John Paul’s P-40E was the first I’d seen in person, 1972 at Hamilton AFB Memorial Day open house. In the spring 1984 I was flying a passenger flight in a WestAir Commuter Twin Otter, from Modesto to San Francisco, through the Livermore valley, and the very same P-40 pulled up on our wing (very briefly, not close enough to call formation). After my shift, I drove over to Livermore and spoke with John, who acknowledged that he “might have seen” the Twin Otter. 😉

I could see the bird in flight over the airport as the warbirds approached in the distance, and just kept hoping they would coincide at some point.

Oh those old warbirds! Nothing so sweet as their rumble! So moving to see them fly!!! The P-40 is in my top four favorites. Thank you for sharing with us!!!

Gen. Claire Chennault would be very proud of all of his men and women of the Flying Tigers. My Grandma was his secretary in India, she brought his two Dachshunds home when the mission was completed. Great period in history.
