Eh! Thanks deeply for all these great videos! I've just found out these gems recently and I really enjoy it! If I may... one small request... why always the background music while you talk? It's really distracting... Great music, by the way, but just not in the background always on loop play... please ... Otherwise, brilliant stuff! Have a great day!

Great series! I’m learning a ton. I am finding having the track you’re mixing in the background while you’re teaching to be very distracting - maybe a different track or lower levels will help the teaching aspect.

The recorded vocal was very nice to begin with. Great captures. Lead Vox: Compressing the 3kHz made the 6-9khz too sharp imo ... I would have treated everything I didn’t like before “ additive / enhancing “ then again those JBL/ NS 10 aren’t very accurate in the top end, so I’m sure that hi end boost he thought was appropriate.. Since it was conservatively recorded compression wise, I would have parallel her into my WA76 or the UAD 1176 A and blended back in with the lead vocal. Then add a 8:1 or 12:1 slow attack med release to “ hold/ cement/ anchor “ the vocal without reducing too much of the natural dynamic since I would have smashed the piss out of her vox in parallel 💪✅ don’t be scared of compression 😊 Awesome tutorial and video series..

Grammys are virtually useless in determining the musical talents of an “artist” or engineer. The argument you are making is known as the fallacy of appealing to authority. Just bc expert X says something is so does not in anyway serve as proof that it is in fact so. You’re a gem. Have you noticed what wins Grammys today. The Grammys are a popularity contest among industry elites mixed with an evaluation of the monetary value of a given “product”. They rarely serve as an indicator of “talent”. Of course, Joe is a skilled engineer but, your snide dismissal of someone else’s take was based on a foundation of sand. Taylor Swift holds the record for most album of the year awards. I am sure there are many skilled musicians and engineers etc that would disagree with that. Apparently since the Grammys are the metric of all artistic value it must be true.
