I love the size of this pedal and it is a heavy robust build. If you like the tiny little pedal thing this won't be your choice. It is a unique phaser voice with an envelope filter quality that is downright cool. I dig it and I was impressed by the build of it right out of the box. Not an empty box of a few components, better than the original as are all the Warm Audio reproductions! I thought Origin pedals were a solid build, this puppy is outstanding. If you know Mutron and how to play with a phaser and not merely just through it it can be quite unique. Towards the end of this Andy starts a sample of what it can do. Don't confuse this or compare it to a 90 type circuit, it's different and unique.

Think of it this way: this ODD pedal is for those who want to have only the advantages of an OCD and leave the defects of the fulltone ocd pedals. Finally an "OCD"(ODD) that can be used in all respects (gain travel included) without being submerged by all that useless and muddy bass of the original OCD. The pedal harks back to version V1.4. All those fulltone OCD basses (who likes them) can also make a positive impression when you play alone, perhaps at home, but I assure you that when you are in a live context with a band, on the contrary they are a serious problem. The difference between the warm ODD and the fulltone OCD is that the ODD sounds great on its own, without the need to add another overdrive, and that you can use the gain up to three-quarters of the way, while with the OCD you are forced to keep the gain low and push it with another overdrive (like ts-9), otherwise it won't stand out in the mix. Furthermore, warm audio did an excellent job with the equalization of the odd pedal: the mids and medium/high frequencies when you raise the gain they don't fall behind as in ALL OCDs, and it is precisely the mid frequencies that are the most important. One last thing: after version v1.7, the construction of the OCD pedals inside is 90% entirely surface mount (SMT), including the GE model, while warm audio the ODD is not only built entirely with a through hole, but uses premium components selected and assembled by hand and even mounts a germanium diode, and lastly ( but last but not least), it has a silent switch with no pop when turned on, while the OCD switches make noise.

I use a Headrush board live, and both of those pedals see a lot of action. The one thing I would add to the Tron pedal is a tap tempo. Because that effect sounds incredible doing triplets But yeah an OCD and a tubesrceamer is all the drive I need to RTF out of any room.

Cool. However, and I don't usually care much about small nuance differences between vintage and reproduction gear, the phaser sounds nothing like my phasor ii... It sounds a lot more like a ehx phaser, not the weird almost vibrato-like velvety smooth phaser that comes from the vintage pedal.

This is a good demo that displays what is hard to put in words. The WA pedal has WAY too much "wowel" sounds and is much too "honky". The reason me, and many others, love the phasor ii is the way it does phaser without sounding like a phaser. kzbin.info/www/bejne/bKTKkGekn7Wkh8k

Warm Audio is about to get sued for stealing trade dress by Mike Fuller. He moved production to Nashville and is making OCDs again.
@jspartacus Жыл бұрын
Nah. You can only copyright a drawing of a circuit, not the circuit itself. You can try to patent a circuit, but it's very hard to prove in a court of law that your circuit design is not "obvious to a person skilled in the art."
@3rdStoreyChemist Жыл бұрын
@@jspartacus Trade Dress is something very different. It's about the look of the product and how close it is to an existing product. Behringer had to redesign and rename a bunch of their products due to infringing on Trade Dress of Roland/Boss products, both in & out of production. Basically you can't make a product look like a different brand.
@3rdStoreyChemist Жыл бұрын

@tacdoc8736 Жыл бұрын
@@jspartacus I’m not talking about the circuit. I clearly wrote about trade dress. Pedal companies have sued & won over trade dress, because of how a pedal looks. It’s clearly designed to look like the FT OCD & WA is US based, even if they have their pedals made in China.

Cannot believe it's legal to steal designs like this, cannot believe anybody wants to buy these. Or are these licensed by the original manufacturers? Otherwise I would be ashamed having one on my pedalboard or even advertising these.

@TomWebbFilms Жыл бұрын
Josh Scot did a great video about the differences between cloning, copying and counterfeiting. Any circuit is fair game as you can’t copyright a circuit. You can have a design influenced and inspired by the original (I’d argue these fall into that category) and then there are counterfeits that steal the “trade dress” of a pedal so they look identical and are designed to fool someone into thinking it’s the real deal. There are plenty of OCD clones out there, this looks like a great one.
@Protocol_17 Жыл бұрын
There’s nothing new in electronic circuits. Just variations and grade of components.
@brandonjackson5865 Жыл бұрын
Being that full tone is closed, it’s more like a tribute than a ripoff. You already got no telling how many clones and copies of the OCD. I really don’t see anything wrong with this, it’s definitely more of a tribute than the Chinese that actually say OCD on them. It’s a great overdrive circuit someone or everyone is bound to make one.
