I think that the vu meter shows the input signal (gain) and not the output, however I own this excellent preamp !!!! and made few videos on youtube with examples

Thanks for supporting Warm Audio! Glad you like the WA-412! Just FYI: Video states that the meter shows "output level pre-attenuation" which means the signal level before using the output trim knob.

How can i connect it? Do you have to have an interface to connect the preamp ???

Yes. Your mic connects to the preamp input and the output connects to your interface input.
