If you don't have another working winch to try you also can press the in and out button for the winch and just take a test light to see if you have power going to the winch

Are those “posts” you refer to around 10:30min in, spring loaded carbon brushes?

After you freed the all brushes and springs, then blow out the old carbon from the brush assembly with compressed air and the magnet body. Check the amount of carbon brush material left before it hits the wires connecting the brushes. If they are close to contacting the commutator on the rotor replace them. Lightly sand the commutator with 1000 grit sandpaper to assure a clean brush contact after assembly. Then assemble the motor onto the plastic body. Hook it up to the wires before you add the planetary gear set. Test both directions. If it works then grease and reassemble both sides of the unit after you install your new synthetic rope onto the spool. Check out a company called Montana Jack's for all Warn winch parts and ?'s. Ask for Shawn or Randy. They were awesome and shipped my tie rods for my 2.5 CI Polaris winch to my house in 3 days. Thanks for your videos too.
