KFI plow fix for winch cable breaking on UTV CF Moto.

This will be the 2nd attempt to fix this cable breaking issue for the CFmoto winch with plow set up. KFI offers a solution for this cable breaking issue. KFI products: 106045 utv power lever lift and 105270 fairlead plow pulley

A lot of comments saying the cable pull routing or angle is wrong. That it should be pulled up not in by the winch...it is the correct way to pull it in, and not up! There is a suggestion card towards the beginning of video as well a link to another video at the end that explains why this is correct.

A winch is always pulling "in" if think about it. You can change the angle of the cable anyway you need to and the winch still is going to wind the same way. 😂

Switch to strap and strap roller. Doesn't matter what setup you use for your cable it will still get ruined.

I have this on my plow. The thinking behind the large pulley is your cable wont bend as sharp as compared to fairlead roller, 3 inch pulley compared to 1 inch on fairlead. The pulley will also keep the cable from flattening like on the roller fairlead. Another feature is the piece joining the two angle L brackets is meant to keep cable in pulley

Replace the roller then replace the cable with a 2" tow strap. Cables suck for plowing.

I like the pulley replacement instead of the fairlead, but that system ends up putting most of the power of the winch forward and aft, instead of lifting. I would attach another pulley, with a sealed bearing, to the lowest anchor point on the plow, and use a strap to anchor the hook end of the cable to some high point on the front of the ATV. This doubles the mechanical advantage, decreases the speed of the lift. and cuts the stress on the cable by a factor of 2. If you don't care about having the winch cable installed, I have seen several hints on other installations with the cable breakage problem, convert to an 8 foot length of 2 inch strap attached to the winch (after removing the cable). I haven't decided how I am going to solve this problem, but there was another Idea, where the person mounted another winch on the plow, and used the same power cables from the main winch, to power the winch on the plow , This would allow a person to use a strap instead of a rope or cable, and lengthen the life of the unit, while still having the long line on the main winch for normal operations. I have a Warn, center mount plow on a Kodiak ATV, and I am going with the winch on the plow (using a 2" strap), because I happen to have another winch available. I plan to use a quick disconnect, to move the power from the ATV mounted winch, to the winch on the plow. Good luck with your installation.

Flat strap or fabric rope is the only way to go. If the rope breaks it can be retied no tools needed

I did this to ours, has broken twice this year. Each time I plow it snaps the cable

Try attaching the winch cable to the plow arms directly below the winch. His design is putting a lot of stress on the cable. It should be lifting the plow straight up, not pulling it in toward the plow. You want the winch cable as vertical as possible, straight up and down. You'll have much better results.

you are exactly right. The cable should be attached directly below the winch. It should be lifting the plow up, not trying to pull it in towards the ATV

Snapped two cables two days in a row. That looks like way to much aftermarket work especially if you just paid the $ for a new plow. Not happy with KFI plows and this design!

Your winch mount location is horrible. Your winch is trying to pull the plow blade in towards the ATV when it should just be lifting it straight up. You will have much better results if you hook your winch cable on the metal loop directly below the winch. You want to keep your winch cable as vertical as possible, straight up and down. Much less stress on the cable if it's lifting it up, not pulling it in toward the machine.

I hear you and I know what you're saying it looks messed up however the original setup was that metal hook straight-up-and-down and the cable kept breaking like every plow it would break haven't this way it hasn't broke once again it doesn't look right but whoever designed that knew what they were doing
