I was in 1/75th FA Svc Btry from March 84 to April 87. Best of times and I had my wife and son with me too. I'd love to go back some day for a visit. The entire city/country was very warm and welcoming.

I was a part of 2/14th FA (MLRS) from Dec 1992 to May of 1995. My tour was extended because we were told in the summer of 1994 that our unit was to be deactivated. They kept one battery of MLRS on the other side of the road. Once my HEMTT was clean and could be shipped back to the states I was allowed to outprocess. Lots of great memories!

Thank you so much for posting the video. Can't begin to tell you the memories this brought back for me. I was stationed there in the late 1970's and left in June of 1980. Some things have changed some, but I still recognized my old barracks and battalion area.

That's one of the things I remember most, all those cobblestone streets. lol Especially the Troop runs on them. 3rd Platoon, F Troop, 2/2 ACR, 85'-86'. Actually lived in the billets on the main post, forget whose, but it was near an NCO Club I think. A couple buildings away was a Video Rental place on the 3rd or 4th floor. Didn't move back over to the Cav side til a month or so before I left that Oct of 86'. Ray's Diner was awesome. Best Mess Hall I've EVER eaten in. I've wanted to go back to see it again. I remember a place called The Country Club nearby and I think Milano's Pizza House was behind it owned by a man we called Pops. He was a nice old guy. Plus going downtown to the Square.

Video makes it seem bleak today but i remember it very well as a sunny very dynamic fun assignment with many great young trim fit soldiers more often than not smiling and getting their jobs done. The post back then was jammed packed with troops and huge parks of combat vehicles and equipment , it was a very very active place to be. Although not with the same sense of purpose i've been back to Germany many times , the last a circumferential countrywide bus tour that was fantastic. I'll be back as many more times as my remaining years permit as Germany like Japan are exceptionally nice and interesting.

I was stationed at Warner Barracks 1967-8 with C/3/7 Hawk Missile Battalion. I would like to chat with fellow Hawkers who were there, then. The PX has a strange smell that I was never able to identify until I learned that a German cavalry unit was stationed there. The stable was converted into the PX and the smell was the remnants of manure.
