Anya Taylor-Joy and Chris Hemsworth star in Academy Award-winning mastermind George Miller’s “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga,” the much-anticipated return to the iconic dystopian world he created more than 30 years ago with the seminal “Mad Max” films. Miller now turns the page again with an all-new original, standalone action adventure that will reveal the origins of the powerhouse character from the multiple Oscar-winning global smash “Mad Max: Fury Road.” The new feature from Warner Bros. Pictures and Village Roadshow Pictures is produced by Miller and his longtime partner, Oscar-nominated producer Doug Mitchell (“Mad Max: Fury Road,” “Babe”), under their Australian-based Kennedy Miller Mitchell banner.
As the world fell, young Furiosa is snatched from the Green Place of Many Mothers and falls into the hands of a great Biker Horde led by the Warlord Dementus. Sweeping through the Wasteland, they come across the Citadel presided over by The Immortan Joe. While the two Tyrants war for dominance, Furiosa must survive many trials as she puts together the means to find her way home.
Taylor-Joy stars in the title role, and along with Hemsworth, the film also stars Alyla Browne and Tom Burke.
Miller penned the script with “Mad Max: Fury Road” co-writer Nico Lathouris. Miller’s behind-the-scenes creative team includes first assistant director PJ Voeten and second unit director and stunt coordinator Guy Norris, director of photography Simon Duggan (“Hacksaw Ridge,” “The Great Gatsby”), composer Tom Holkenborg, sound designer Robert Mackenzie, editor Eliot Knapman, visual effects supervisor Andrew Jackson and colorist Eric Whipp. The team also includes other longtime collaborators: production designer Colin Gibson, editor Margaret Sixel, sound mixer Ben Osmo, costume designer Jenny Beavan and makeup designer Lesley Vanderwalt, each of whom won an Oscar for their work on “Mad Max: Fury Road.”

A cinematic masterpiece that has left me speechless! The time and patience one has to dedicate their life, in making a lifetime work, coupled with an unquenchable thirst to provide sheer awe and cinematic brilliance technically and emotionally, stands out at every single minute throughout the movie. Apocalyptic genres are quite easy to enact, since they require an astute understanding of how humans operate on baseline consciousness. George Miller did a fantastic job at delivering this exact sentiment. I am overall pleased with the aesthetic cinematic treatment compared to its predecessor for continuity and not overdoing with CG. Dramatic pacing and character introduction is given justice with sufficient screen time to develop their story arcs and finale plot. The wasteland is merciless and spares nobody. Flawless execution 10/10.

Some fun facts: 1. The script for this movie was given to Charlize Theron to help her prepare for Fury Road. It pre-dates Fury Road and Miller thought about making it first. 2. If you’ve played the Mad Max videogame from 2015, it gives a lot of background about the characters in this movie, including Chris Hemsworth’s. 3. If this movie follows the videogame lore, then Chris Hemsworth’s character is the father of the little girl that Mad Max keeps having visions of during Fury Road (Glory the Child).

I’ve loved the series since 1980 when as a boy of 10 or 11 years old, my sister smuggled me in in the trunk of her car the drive-in theater to see mad Max. Now many years later, I’m taking my 17-year-old daughter to see this on opening weekend on IMAX. Thank you, George Miller for making such an amazing series. This franchise is about Mad Max, and they've removed him and put a female as the lead, the clues in the title along with ripping off his name to try and boost it's, the ultimate insult. Same with so many movies and series these days, female centred on purpose. They even did it in fury road making her the lead and him a sidekick with no personality, not like the originals.

The first half hour hooks you completely and then your just on the edge of your seat the rest of the way. Alyla Browne is so fantastic as young Furiosa, just amazing. Anya Taylor Joy, no one is better accentuating with the eyes!!! And Chris Hemsworth is very tolerable villain. Great cast , great job, it's gonna be big!!

I saw "The Road Warrior" in 1982 with my father at a drive in theater and we both LOVED that movie! Top ten all time great! Sadly my wife passed away just days before "Fury Road" came out. My father was visiting for the funeral and we saw "Fury Road" in 3D at the Theater and it was wonderful! I went back 2 days later to see it again in 2D and that was how I recommend people watch it as the 3D effects were more distracting than cool. Can't wait to see this one in theaters. I'll have to figure out how to meet my father to see it since he moved 400 miles away.

I hope you get a chance to watch it together, but if that doesn't work out, you can try to watch it at the same time in your respective cities and call/Facetime each other immediately after. I've had to do that with loved ones who lived far away. It's not the same, obviously, but it still helps to know they're seeing the same thing as you when something epic happens onscreen. Saw it this afternoon and it was pretty good. Where Fury Road was pretty much an adult version of the Wacky Races, this was more world building in comparison - while still delivering electrifying action. If you love the Mad Max movies, and want to see more of the characters and world of Fury Road, then definitely treat yourselves. I felt there was enough ideas laid on the table in Furiosa for a future sequel to Fury Road, and I hope that happens.

Yes, it has way more CGI than Fury Road, but that film took over a decade from concept to the finished product. The director is 79 years old, so he had to go this route to ensure completion. I'm just glad it got done.

@poopurpoop wow, thanks for all this info. I never believed that Fury Road was 90% real, as many claim. I know, based on the documentary, that they built all the vehicles and they were fully operational. I know the shoot itself wasn't close to 10 years, but wanting to film in such a harsh environment, combined with a higher practical effects in mind approach, made the process of getting it done stretch way beyond the vast majority of movies that would have just thrown pure CGI at it. While Furiosa does look more cartoony, I don't consider that to be a bad thing. I think and hope it will be a blast.

As a VFX artist myself, I can tell you that in this trailer alone, 80% of the fire , smoke, explosions, muzzle flashes, dust & sand visuals ( including some car shots and environments ) were simulated and rendered by a computer and not captured practically.
