This song reminds me of my ex Fiancé. We met young and spent 9 years together. We were each other's first adult relationship from 19 to 28. That whole "I don't know who I am without you" is real deal heartbreaking stuff. It took me a solid year and a half to be ok after that split. Didn't know what I even liked to do without her in my life. They don't make good music like this in 2020.

I think this song is about her knowing she needs to leave a relationship because she only knows who is she with them. She doesn't know herself alone. It is hard for her to leave because there is really nothing wrong with the relationship, it has just run it's course. She is thinking about the next person who her mate her be with after her.

"Because she will love you more than I could, she who dares to stand where I stood." That could be about letting go of the love you have for a child, and accepting that someone else will love it more, or it could be about letting go of a romantic love, and learning to accept that someone else is better for them. So I think it could go either way. :)
