Warning: Addictive Phat Kaphrao Recipe - ผัดกะเพรา (Holy Basil stir-fry)

I have been loving Phat Kaphrao (also Pad Krapow, Pad Kaprao and Pad Gaprao or even Pad Kar Pao) for years already, but it was only lately that I found out that the dish I loved was called Phat Kaphrao, before that I only knew Phat Kaphrao as No. 107 on the menu from my local Thai restaurant. In essence it's a stir-fry and you can make it with many different proteins, the only common denominator is the Holy Basil, which is a must and the sauce. Many say that this is the "secret" national dish of Thailand, I can't judge, but it sure is one of my favourite dishes of all time. I prefer it with Chicken, so a Phat Kaphrao Gai. It's such a simple dish, only takes about 20 minutes to prepare, so what are you waiting for? 😃

Well done with chopping the chicken, Christian. I start out with small pieces but they become larger as I get lazier. It's not too hard to get holy basil where I am, will try this next week. Thanks for the inspiration. What I really miss are barbequed meats - a restaurant in the West can't match them.

Very nice, Christian! I had it in Thailand with beef and onion, very good. Unfortunately it is impossible to buy fresh holy basil in Romania, only dried for tea etc, but I guess that is not as good in this dish. One can buy seeds and grow the plant in the garden, but that is a long term project, will though try at a friend´s house. Nice episode, looking forward to the next one!
