Toyota has had a lot of bad models/engines since the early 2000´s but people never mention them, because Toyota is a taboo "nothing goes wrong ever and never" and that is a big lie. Just like Mercedes and VW/Audi they USED to bee good in the 70´s and 80´s but that is a long time ago, these days they are complete rubbish. I am a Hyundai and Nissan advocate, i have had several in the past +30 yrs and they have been very reliable cars and they are much cheaper to buy used than a over hyped and priced Toyota. I have had one 2007 Toyota and it was plagued with issues, low miler car had 1 owner and a full service history yet i had to do a lot of repairs during the 3 yrs i had that car, Head gasket, suspension and other parts here and there, no more Toyota´s for me. back to Nissan & Hyundai and all is good again. I currently drive a 17 yrs old Nissan and it just goes on and on and on with no major mechanical issues, apart from basic maintenance, brake pad/discs only some annoying door handle/locking issues.

I don't use the infotainment system setup in my Camrys as I don't want my car to be connected to the internet. I haven't had any problems with my 2012 and 2018 Camrys and Toyota has a good reputation in dealing with recall issues generally. The CVT tech in the Camry was introduced in 2017 and I assume that they have any problems worked out now. Hybrid has been around for a lot longer I think so those should be bulletproof now. I would not be surprised to see pandemic-era issues, particularly with car sitting around for long periods of time waiting around for parts before they could be sold but they seem to have been selling all that they could make for 2024 up until maybe two months ago. I've not heard of problems with the 2024 Prius or Corolla (outside of the sport model) and you're probably not going to want that anyways if you're buying a Corolla. I'm not really sure what demographic they're going after with that model. Most people that want a cheap, performance car buy an old Accura or Honda and then soup it up.

I agree with another commenter that Toyota has put out some lemons at times, a prime example is the d4d diesel in UK spec previas circa 2000-2006 these motors were known to go into limp mode and as a diesel would not make it past 100,000 to 150,000 miles which is bad for a diesel. Most youth today are too lazy or just do not want to learn how to do it. There still are a few cars out there that are manual but most people today are lazy and don't want to learn or they want to fiddle with everything in the car so their hands are free. It's sad back in the day the 1980s Toyotas got at least 30 mi per gallon. My Toyota Tercel l researched it back then and got 30 mi per gallon. I remember I could practically go almost a whole week on a full tank of gas maybe even longer if I didn't do a lot of running around. Let that sink in folks! 30 mi per gallon on a 4-cylinder car in the 1980s for toyota. There are no 4 cylinder cars these days that do get 30 miles per gallon. Is there ? Are we going backwards here? My bad experiences with cars: 1993 Nissan Altima - died on me several times traded it for the 2001 Eclipse // 2009 Pontiac Vibe GT- blew the valve cover gasket, lost acceleration, CPU died cost me thousands // 2014 Mazda 6 - Was leaking oil in the spark plugs, needed suspension parts replaced, front bumper edge was peeling, paint chips easily // 2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupe 2.0T- Too dangerous too long to explain (you will get speeding tickets & could rear end someone merging when you have to look back.-yes happened to me [=

Yet people pretend the LT series of engines from GM are not trash! Atleast toyota did a recall, we needed a class action against GM to get any resolution! 2:48

I'm very happy with the Subaru I bought new in 2019. No problems so far other than having to replace the battery.

Makes me laugh when back in the day everyone poo pooed my '88 Supra for not being a "turbo", fast forward 36 yrs and it now seems that "turbo" powered vehicles are the ones getting a bad rap...lol PS - still have the '88 N/A Supra and she still runs like a clock :)

A year ago (December 2023): I buy a new 2023 Tacoma V6 with 6 miles, $2500 off sticker (tried and true Toyota) VS same truck 2024, big mark up and with problems. Easy choice.

Bought the 23 taco. Hope it lasts.

Good luck. Hopefully. I would love to hear after a year or so.
People need to realize 2 things EPA and regulations have made the cars what they are today. Toyota is still more reliable than most brands out there today. They aren't problem free like they used to be. But that's just reality now.

Wouldn't surprise me if the Tacomas were made in Mexico.
@thomaskim5008Ай бұрын
Tundra with the engine problem is made in San Antonio USA. So, the problem is not just Mexico manufacturing

So far the 3.4L turbo in the LX600 but the 3.5 NA is good and then2.4 turbo is Ok but same as Toyota and the 2.5NA is good when matched up in the hybrids

Oh okay so now when I have enough money to buy a brand new Toyota I shouldn't buy one because they are not Dependable anymore seriously I have the worst luck

Unfortunately too many vehicles including Toyota has to answer to government standards for safety and fuel efficiency and lower emissions! Quality got compromised!

I'm thinking my next vehicle will have the Camry hybrid drive train. Probably Crown or RAV4. Any word on problems with this system? No turbos. No start/stop system. No belts (accessory timing or Wet). No sleazy mechanical CVTs. No GDI without port injection. No 11 speed torque converter automatic. No torque converter. No 12 Volt starter or alternator. I hope they stick with the nickel battery. It seems safer than lithium. Electric car goodness without the electric car drawbacks.

I suspect at least some of the legendary "toyota quality" is just hype that has been repeated so much, that folks just accepted it as fact and truth. Tacoma, Tundra, Sequoia and Four-runner frame rusting problems anyone ? Toyota like all the manufacturers have built some dogs. I'd still buy one. I'm considering a new Tacoma to replace my 2006 Frontier, because the Taco is about the only truck left that I can still get a manual transmission.
@ECPPАй бұрын
Yes I agree, I came across a beautiful new manual Tacoma slightly used that looked very intriguing

My 2019 subaru forester has been super reliable. Boring though, not much power. Cvt is totally fine on Subaru. Best vehicle I've owned and that includes a turbo mazda cx7 that blew up.

North American drivers don't want or need small turbocharged fuel efficient weedwacker engines in our medium or extra large cars trucks and SUV'S. Why because they just aren't built to last. The majority of North American buyers like me want big fuel thirsty V8's that are strong tough and are built to last for 20 years plus, just look at the new smaller fuel efficient Tundra twin turbo V6 motor vs the older gas guzzling V8's of the previous Tundra! We are Americans and we don't care about fuel efficiency. We care first about reliability, durability, power and torque, and towing capabilities that only big cubic inch V8's can deliver. Smaller and more complex twin turbocharged six cylinder engines just don't have the long lasting reliability of gas guzzling V8's and that's a fact. We as consumers want more gas guzzling V8's in American and more patriotic. We are Not European consumers that constantly worry about fuel economy and efficiency they do that's why they prefer tiny weedwacker turbocharged 0.5 liter three cylinder engines. Their culture in Europe can and should never be adopted here in America, their governments in Europe dictate socialist engine size mandates, We don't want that Euro crap here in America! I am for V8's forever in our pickup trucks and SUV'S. America Hell Yeah America 🇺🇸 .

All of the TRUSTED Japanese auto Manufacturers are having Quality Control issues. I believe CORPORATE GREED is to blame here. For the sole sake of making more PROFITS, they have sourced inferior manufacturing processes in their engine & transmissions subcontractors, inferior labor in Mexico and the US plants (especially the ones in Alabama where many problems are stemming from currently) and their sense of just pushing things through and not to stop the production line (taking the teeth & claws out from under their QC technicians) and here we are.

I know how that company works, I am not worried. They still have the lowest failure rates as a whole than any other brand I will roll the dice on them over any other brand. Does not mean I will get a good one, but my odds are I will get a good one:P
@ECPPАй бұрын
It’s still a solid bet but it’s a little worrying with the amount of challenges that speak to quality control
@JasPlunАй бұрын
@@ECPP I agree, but I will give it a little more time because of the complexity of things now days. They still have to meet government regulations and that is why they have had no choice but to go with turbo chargers etc. Just know this they will now take what they have designed and make it bullet proof over time because Toyota has the tech to last many years before having to re-design again. They have always taken what they have and improved it over time. I never buy Toyotas the 1st 2 years of a new design I wait 3-4 years then buy. Just my rule I follow. Our 2020 Camry was 2 years in a little too soon for me to buy, but they were already showing good signs by 2020 they had worked out the early transmission failures and they were down to a minimum and the gear hunting was also solved. Honda on the other hand has seen drastic quality changes I am worried about them they are not the Honda of old for sure!
