Was this the game that Bobby Fischer was referring to when, on one occasion while playing a match, Fischer saw Lillenthal in the audience and greeted him, not by name but by the move he played at the critical position in this game?

I sometimes see optical illusions too. Illusions like, I'm winning in a position.

You had a winning position and it wa only a matter of finding the killer move
@kevinbyrne45385 жыл бұрын
I can find the "killer moves" when Mato asks viewers to find them -- but not over the board. So, when I play, I need to have Mato whisper, "Find the killer move in this position".

Optical illusions are quite common in chess. You can clearly see that you are winning and suddenly you get checkmated.

If I remember correctly, I. A. Horowitz wrote a study of this game in one of his books. I believe he titled that chapter, "Capa Comes a Cropper". 😂 Thanks, Mato!

When white takes the pawn after the queen exchange, why doesnt black move queen to a4? If then pawn takes rook on h8 check, knight to f8 and defense is at least managable, queen is attacking bishop on h4.. Idk i just saw it i didnt look into it more than that

What a game. What a pawn move. Is that really true? This is chess in highest completion. Thank you Mato Jelic for this upload.

At 2:23 why didn't white push e5?
@fep_ptcp8835 жыл бұрын
Then black goes Nxe5 winning the pawn for free and attacking the white queen (pawn on d4 is pinned, blocking the black rook on d8)
@johnwamsley18965 жыл бұрын
Right fep_ptcp, that looks pretty good to me. Or how about ...g5, that knocks the bishop out of the diagonal attacking the rook, and allows the knight to go to the new hole on d5, if the bishop spends tempo to escape.
@fep_ptcp8835 жыл бұрын
@@johnwamsley1896 you mean e5 g5, Bc3 Ne5? I think it is a good continuation for black, keeping files closed and improving the knight... Now for me it is not clear what is better, if this variation you mentioned or Nxe5

Oissev Onos For the record, Tal’s sacrifices are not sound in most cases however, he was definitely a psychological master, he definitely would have given Capablanca a difficult time especially if it was rapid chess game or blitz games.. so it is not wrong to assume that would be an epic game
