If you stop the cylinder firing with the dodgy big end, it will last longer.

@@unclebrentsshed4253 under the super dodgy category, you could take the head off and remove that piston and rod, or just pull the sump and cut off as much con rod as you can get at.

Maybe get an electric hydraulic pump and bypass that? Dunno, would that work? Looks like you got it sorted anyway, nice work.
