@@Lmatdhr look into it some more. MTG / Pokemon etc.. CGC has done this time and time again. grading 6-7-8s as perfect 10s. Putting CLEARLY FAKE titles on the cards. This is just one of many examples. It says right on the slab, ARTIST PROOF.. this is NOT an AP.. CGC is a scam simple

Definitely take a sealed box of legends over this anomaly at 14k. Just being non factory cut should disqualify it from grading at all.

Because they wanted to draw artwork on the back with a pencil. It's easier to see the drawing if they paint the back white first. Also, pencil doesn't write very well on glossy cardstock, so the gesso that artists use on a canvas before painting, is much better for accepting the graphite.

Wanted to fake the artist proof look. Couldn't fool people otherwise. They claim it was to apply a sketch, but I believe them about as much as our gov't.

have encountered this with other grading companies TBH. they will grade the SIGNATURE as authentic on a non authentic or altered card :( , this is similar, it's a damaged / altered card and should be treated as such by the company.

If anyone else in the hobby did this they would be labeled a scammer and ridiculed for damaging cards (which is exactly what they did by literally erasing the true nature and history of the card in order to profit). However, when you are extremely wealthy and have status you can bypass ethical practice and no one questions it. CGC participating in this is incredibly ironic and shameful. @@TavisKingsChannel CGC and CBCS have been nailed for doing dirty deeds and also just major bonehead things. Luckily CBCS is still only comics as far as I'm aware. Grading companies are still ran by humans. Trust them at your own risk.

What is a normal Spendid Genesis worth? Or worth to you? I sold a splendid genesis 7 years ago that was graded 9 for $7000. So I dont know what a normal spendid genesis is worth but I feel like they are probably more then $14000 for one.

The costs for MTG have gotten out of hand, and these scams are not helping the legit card community. I have pulled back hard on my collecting of MTG cards, I only buy the singles I need to make my (non-net) decks.

Never been a fan of CGC. I have seen them send my friends back pristine 10s that had horrendous centering. They slap a 10 on everything.

They've damaged multiple submissions of mine and offered nothing in return. They had the gall to ask for proof of the condition of my books when I submitted them. I should've quit with them after the first incident. I'd never do business with them again.

He is saying the truth. Those cards that are being called artist proofs and offered for sale as such, are not artist proofs. It is a misleading sale.

No way they're worthless. Splendid Genesis is an extremely rare, desirable, and valuable card. Signed & Graded, with solid provenance back to the artist, should increase the value. Even if you count NFC against the value, the card is still going to be worth a considerable amount. It's the artwork covering the card back, and the artist proof label that many people have problems with. Even then, it still has some kind of value. With only 20 copies in the world, they don't need to find many buyers. Somebody will want it.

Yea you are misunderstanding it completely. What he is saying is that the sellers make all kinds of claims to inflate the value of the item that are simply not true, which makes this a scam.
