Can you review "what about baseball". There is a house rule using rock paper scissors. If you win, there is contact. If there is draw or fail, use green dice roll to determine if it is ball, strikes if foul ball. That rule turns the pitcher batter into a match.

I am 13-14 plays in at between a 20-25% win rate. This is a 10 out of 10 game for me. Love it.

Absolute gem of a game! I agree, coffee roaster has been obsoleted (even though coffee is a more exciting theme). Wow, this game just came out of nowhere for me, so happy I acquired it!

You think coffee is more exciting than fighting aliens???

Right around minute 14 you say you're interested to see how you feel about this game in another year, thinking "it might be one of the ones that lasts." Now a year has passed. How do you feel about it?

I had to play it a couple times before it "clicked", like how to efficiently use the Hold and keep enemies stunned. But now I love it. I had issues with the rulebook however, nothing BGG couldn't solve.

I agree that the rulebook is badly done, I spent a lot of time on bgg figuring this game out.

Never heard of this game before. I've started playing solo a lot more but am looking for something a little meatier than my solo Button Shy games. This might be a good contender. Thanks!

The one thing I think needs mentioning is the "adventure storybook" which I found a huge disappointment... Supposedly something to use to get into the game, it ends up that it is a "choose your adventure" story with random choices that essentially just randomize your first game ship and enemy choice. If I had followed that my first game I would have played on of the harder ships to use against the level 4 enemy.... Also, I was less than impressed with the quality of writing and the narrative itself. I would have much preferred some sort of campaign book to guide me through playing all the enemies and ships

I wasn't impressed with the integration of Proving Ground's storybook, either. In that game, the descriptions of the setting within the book weren't reflected in the game's art, and it felt more like notes on setting than a narrative. It feels like a marketing gimmick, especially in comparison to most games with to-the-point campaign writing.

Is there a bit too much going on? That ref chart looks daunting. I heard you constantly have to refer to it which seems like it would slow the game down a lot.

Although I agree the game is great, and a good addition to my solo gamer collection, I have to disagree about your feelings of the rulebook. The structure of the game is clear, but many points are either unclear or left to player choice. You just have to look at BGG's forums as there is a FAQ almost as long as the rulebook that didn't even answer all the questions I had while playing, and more rules posts that any other posts.

Thank you, Liz. Although, Seems as if all of your upload videos at BGG are patronized by (the lovely) Tom Vasel. You are a Senior player of your own already. What is you BGG nick name? How can one be exposed to your table of collection and/or ratings? (And why aren't the videos are on your name, referring to the Dice Tower instead of being owned by that title)..?

Interesting, I absolutely hated the rules. I was forced to watch playthroughs to understand the flow

I'm somewhere between. Didn't hate it, but there are some unintuitive rules like "shield damage removes tokens" that could've used some reminders.
