It's different and great. I wasnt sure if I liked it on first listen, but after a few spins I was hooked and you it is still very much a layered Warpaint song. If you've listened to the previews they've posted on Instagram of songs here and there, they still definitely have tracks with the darker sound, let them have some fun too. i trust them to deliver

Lol Keep in mind this band started in 2004 and this is like their 4th album. Their sound has evolved _a lot_ over the past 12 years (which is also so many people are bitching in the comment section). Listen to songs from their first album like "Elephants" and "Beetles" or the song "Warpaint" from their 2nd album and the name might start to make more sense :)

Apart from the relatively repetitive chorus which I guess can be annoying to some, I don't really get how this is supposed to be so much poppier and such a departure from their previous stuff. I always feel like people who say that (and for many other artists, not just Warpaint) are conveniently ignoring the existing pop songs from the past, minimizing their importance in the overall sound of the band so that it fits their "they're getting mainstream" narrative. Warpaint were never a far out, experimental band anyway. This song has the groove, amazing basslines and dreamy vocals that are all typical of Warpaint, and I'm pretty confident the album as a whole will feature more mellower tracks like they also happen to have on their previous albums. And the vocal melodies of the verses are absolutely gorgeous.

Hey, I apologize for the misunderstanding. In saying what I did, I did not mean to demean women in music, nor did I mean to say, "This band made up of men is the peak of alternative music and cannot be transcended, and Warpaint is the female equivalent of this." In fact, it is impossible to not observe the difference in gender of the vocalist and band members of Warpaint and Radiohead when listening to either. I mean to celebrate the fact that they are a band that is actually really, really good, and effects me in the same way that Radiohead has, which for me means a lot. Furthermore, art is only comparison and influence. To deny the influence a piece of art or a group of musicians has from past bands, artists, or pieces of art is to blind oneself to art entirely. It is a community that sits out in the open and its sole purpose is to be observed and consumed. This is how I consumed it. I hold as much respect for both bands, and love them both the same. I meant it only in a positive light. I would not want them to be anything but what they are and continue their autonomy and creativity. And, in fact, whenever I meet someone that says "Women can't make music as good as Radiohead," I show them Warpaint and it makes them realize that they were wrong about creating a gender-bias. What am I trying to get at? I am just trying to say that pointing out the fact that they are women and comparing them to a band that throughout the music community is considered legendary is not misogynist, nor is it meant to be a negative comment. I love Warpaint. They are my favorite band right now, and I have listened to their discography all the way through at least 60 times since I was introduced to them a year and a half ago. If you want to reach and declare that I'm a jerk for comparing them to Radiohead, than I don't know what else to say. It's blatant in how they compose their music that they were influenced by Radiohead (like thousands of bands since OK Computer came out). Warpaint absolutely has their own sound, and I'm not trying to take away credit where it is due from the incredible people that are women that developed that sound. They both kick ass and I am grateful that they both exist in our lifetime, and that I get to enjoy the sounds they compose.

Not a bad song at all, but it lacks what I love about Warpaint. I like how on Warpaint's last two albums, their music was dreamy and atmospheric. The way their music blended together to create a very psychedelic, beautiful experience just made me fall in love with them. This track doesn't have that, but that doesn't mean it's a bad track. The beat is danceable and you can still hear a little bit of Warpaint's old selves within the song, but it doesn't feel quite the same. I'm still looking forward to the album, but with this track, I'm not expecting as much.

great music! Warpaint just keeps evolving, pushing out consistent great music. This sounds like KCRW will play it like right now, and love is to die, reminds me of 1993-95 like the Cranberries, Bush, and Garbage. I love Warpaint.

I don't understand the hate. This single could open the doors to the band to more countries, more gigs, longer tours probably more stuff coming from them, that's what we all want. Music is a business, deal with it. The song isn't bad at all, I think it's a genuine unexpected pop song and that's what makes it so good. Everybody complained with "Back to school" from Deftones back in time and now I can't even imagine a setlist without it.
