sure. thats why they used their speedpaint 1.0 customers as beta testers and tried to sell reactivation as a "feature". And they waited 15 years to bring actual acrylics that work, then they buy all the influencers (tbf everyone does that), but not the big ones, because the big ones know AP is mediocre at best, and now the "not so ceo anymore" says:"The best acrylics and metallics in the world". I laughed so hard my Pro Acryl, Metal Color and AK 3RD Gen line fell over.

Speedpaints are so color saturated with such good 1-coat coverage, plus they do so much of the initial shading work for you, that I can never see myself going back to standard paints for basecoating. So this video was perfect, as doing the entire model initially with Speepaints then working from there from there is how I paint now. I'd been considering if it's worth the $700+ to get all these as my new opaque/layering paints just for the benefits of a huge, color matched range in triads. I think this vid convinced me to grab the complete set. Great video, thanks!

I love my Cuttlefish man. Those are the most efficient way to glaze paint. But these Fanatics are different. So I know AP and Cuttlefish system is the best. 😊

I love my Pro Acryl for their consistency, but some of the coverages just aren't good. This video helped convince me to pull the trigger and get the full set of these to try. Looking forward to giving them a shot!

I started my painting hobby with Army Painters and I wasn't a huge fan of the regular paints save for a few paints in the range, but I liked their washes. Then I moved onto Reaper and Vallejo. Vallejo has become the primary paint I use and I love their new reformulated Game Color line. Just recently I've fallen for Pro Acryl. I think I can add these to my tool box as well when I pick up some at my local game store.

Don, I really enjoy your painting style! You're giving me some great ideas for my Speedpaints. I plan on picking up the AP Fanatic set when it launches in the US so this was great to see how you used both here for some great results. I'm curious...was the paint you mentioned that separated on your wet palette from Monument Hobbies? I've had a hard time getting that paint to work for me on a wet palette, but apparently a lot of people really love it.

Also Don I noticed there was some bubbles forming on the fanatic paint on the wet pallete, I know the new game Color does a lot and it’s horrible. Didn’t see too many bubbles with fanatic line

The new Game Color are very good paints. They are more “glazy” though. And thinning on the wet palette… can be frustrating. Fanatic paints are simply superior in my opinion. 😊

@@DonSuratos I meant in terms of coverage and of course 3rd Gen are very very liquid. At least from what I have seen of their coverage and thickness ha. Anyway these look sweet. Army painter has gotten way better the last handful of years its great to see :-) Might have to try some of them out. I did always like their tint washes blue tint wash was always one of my go to paints for adding some extra contrast. I like purples and blues for contrast more intresting.

Hi Don! I really consider going all in in Warpaints Fanatic. I have now an almost full range of AK 3rd gen. I am overally satisfied with them with some minor issues. I saw you used them as well. Can you please briefly compare them to AP WPF?? Also I saw on some other reviews that the AP Warpaints Fanatic have a bit glossy finish. Am I right?? Thanks a million. Hi Honzo, I try not to compare brands too much ( in public ), since I do not want to sound harsh to other brands. BUT, Warpaints Fanatic is simply superior to AK. My ranking for top 3 “regular paint brands” at the moment, Fanatic, new Game Color then AK. Cheers! 😊🎨🎨🎨

When I watch you paint and how you approach your mini I always think "yeah, that kinda makes total sense." Yet I wonder how you come to certain decisions. Like when you slapped pallid bone over half of the mini. I guess its because this will unify the colors a bit more together right? I also love to use speedpaints and then try something like your sketch layering with normal acrylics and I am really looking forward to the fanatic line. Especially because I am not very experienced using the color triads could also be immensly helpful. If you were on a strict budget, which paints would you get? I simply cant spend 500+ on the whole paintline, but I thought about just gettint 2-3 colors from each color triad. Still not sure which would make most sense though.

Oh man! I forgot to discuss why I did the Pallid bone like that. But you were right in a way. But basically I needed to check my color scheme at that point. I think Army Painter will release a “Starter Set”. That should be worth the buck for sure. 😊

Yes, yeaterday. These paints works so well on the wet palette. NO separation of pigments and binders at all. Unlike… hmmm… 🤐

When you use fanatic paints on a wet pallete do you add a medium to thin it down or does the moisture from the pallette do it itself?

Depends on the wet palette ( paper ) you use. But generally for base colors, a moist brush is enough to thin. 😊

Great job! Miniatures are getting so so big now. I was thinking of coming back to the hobby but I honestly prefer the smaller simpler miniatures from the late 80s early 90s. Such a shame.

Amazing Don. The new Vallejo Game Color range is horrible. Separates on wet pallet under 10 min. I assume that was the brand you were referring to. Wink wink lol

Oh ya. Horrible. Have to constantly mix the paint in wet pallete to keep it from separating. Plus soooo many bubbles in the new Game Color paint. So disappointing in Vallejo. Also the Vallejo Express suck when compared to Speedpaints. Has a gel like consistency and needs to have Xpress medium applied to them to get even coverage.

As always we paint a nurgle demon, the easiest miniature to cheat ever. Show something more usual. A space marine. I can paint a big papa pump with the school colors of my daughter and some worcester sauce and it will look good ^^

When i first got into the hobby bought a Army Painter warpaints mega set. By far the worse purchase ive ever made in the hobby. Horrible paints. Gained back a little respect with speed paints. But im hopeful for fanatics though.

Everything that they said was in the box is inside the box!’ Honestly the fact that so many influencers seem to barely want to cover the actual non-effect paints and instead keep focusing on speed paints or washes has me really sus of the quality of these paints. I’ve wanted to give AP a chance to up their game as they’ve always been on the lowest end of paint quality and the new Fanatic range seemed like a good improvement but man… really gonna have to wait to see once more painters actually showcase them being used outside of the 3 preview colours they sent.

Suit yourself, it is fine to want to punish the company for the past paints, and is certainly wise to wait for more reviews, but the new paints are completely different and have been compared similarly to ProAcryl. The whole point of the new line is to be a significant improvement over the prior Warpaints.
