What is the addition that you have on the top of your paint bottles?
@GabrielBishop2 күн бұрын
I think the reason why painters follow you is that alot of us really resonate with your philosophy. I personally used to dread painting minis until I found speedpaints. Love the chop chop, btw. I have been layering speedpaints a lot but hadnt yet made the leap to drybrush again. It really is deceptively simple yet extremely effective imo

Hi Don! I really enjoy your videos! Would you consider making a video that compares different speed painting methods? You could paint the same miniature using various techniques (painting over white primer, slap chop, double slap chop, etc.) with the same speed paints and display the results side by side. This would help beginners understand the differences between the methods and choose the one that suits them best

Out of curiosity why add speedpaint medium to a speedpaint??
@DonSuratos2 күн бұрын
Hi 👋🏽 Medium adds transparency and slows drying time, without making the Speedpaint runnier ( unlike water ). Less runny means more control, more transparency makes the paints more predictable. Slower drying time, allows a longer window to blend edges. I have a video all about Speedpaint medium here 👉🏼 kzbin.info/www/bejne/hIHcf32bp7F6Y7ssi=0wSCY8Zw9p9r840s

Hey man I discovered this technique from you videos, could you please make a video about the complimentary? Colors and how they would be compatible with each other, this might be obvious for most painters but could be a good video concept ( even if just for a short) as this technique relies on translucent paints 😊thank you

What about replacing the initial black primer, zenithal, and drybrush with just an off-white or light grey primer? If you use a dark enough initial coat before the drybrushing, it seems like you can get very similar results with fewer steps.
@Unconcerned_Orange2 күн бұрын
Ive been using speedpaint 2.0 for a month and i feel like speedpaints leave VERY LITTLE room for mistakes. So every brush stroke counts and you have to be meticulous. You have to plan ahead. You have to have a steady hand and be brave, fast and precise. Thats harder than painting with regular acrylics ! Sure we gotta learn techniques with regular paints but people bashing speedpaints need to learn to live and let live.

haters gonna hate. I come from traditional painting and drawing and its the same there. There are always people complaining or telling you "drawing on a tablet isnt real art" "drawing comics isnt art" etc etc. Cant be bothered by those negative minds. In the end art is highly subjective. To me art is everywhere...even cooking can be art imho. Discussing what painting is and what not...thats not the point. Finding creative ways to bring life to plastic models, using different mediums and approaches...thats something real beautiful and fun to me. Not being close-minded and open to experiment. And I love watching channels like yours where you can learn and see how other people think of new ideas and ways to paint models. And for many people its not just a single model they want to paint for showcasing, I'd guess most people here paint for their games...so thinking of ways to speed up the process but getting high quality results is key to me. Using contrast/speedpaints is a super-nice tool, because I for myself dont like basecoating that much. So i can skip this completely with those paints, bring color variation with some nice quick airbrush underpaints and then go crazy with what I like the most...which is detail work, glazing, effects, a bit of edge highlighting etc. Sorry for the wall of text. :D
