This is an honest/truth review made by Don about the six colour triad. To me Six colour triads is “neat” but I only ever use three: darkest, brightest, and mid. subtle variants just get lost or aren’t noticeable… but I’d love to have everything. 😊

I don’t have many paints and am very tempted by this set. I think it would keep me from second guessing myself if I have it could blend the exact shade I want. Very tempting… I am the type of person who overthinks and has trouble moving on to the actual ‘doing’. This seems interesting to just have a full selection of colours, effects, washes, metallics, etc within arms’ reach. Just ensconce myself at my hobby table downstairs for long chunks of time… something to put on my ‘indulgence’ wish list as a reward if I accomplish some other goals on my list…

This is a Hexad since it is 6 colors. (Hexagons are the bestagons). How could Army Painter not use such a cool word in their marketing. "Our Hexad system gives a flexible triad of colors for base, shadow and highlight as well as layering".

I would drop the first or last color of each ‘triad’ to get an odd 5, and use just the first middle and last paints. Gets nice contrast. The first and last two paints of each triad are pretty similar anyway.

This set is $550-$750USD which is kinda hard to justify getting the whole set. I'm probably gonna get the Mega Set and just pick up the extras in other sets and build it up over time. Although I might stop at the Mega if I find I don't like them that much. Look forward to seeing you put them to the test and see what you paint up next.

Yeah. Instead of spending $1000 Canadian here, it’s better to just get a few primary’s and learn how to mix Colors. Or even get the top and bottom of the 6 bottle colour ranges, and mix to your desired value. But it would be amazing to own the complete set.

an idea, try mixing speedpaints metallic with speedpaints non metallic. we all know that metallics can be mixed with solid color for normal acrylics but speedpaints? i wanna see that tested

@@DonSuratos I was more thinking match the quality of the new paints. I have heard that the speedpaints doesn’t work well with airbrush primers - and that generally the AP airbrush primer is not very good.

@@RyanF1313 the Airbrush primers has been fixed, so they work very well now :) We are always improving on our product line, so if something isn't working, I can promise you that we are looking into it :) Regarding the air primers vs Speedpaint, they do work, but because of the way Speedpaints works, they will always work best on as smooth a surface as possible, and the spray primer is just a better surface for that * the nature of the beast ;) /Thomas from TAP

Hi Don I have the new Vallejo game range and I don’t like it. Always has bubbles in the paint and when I paint a miniature it causes bubbles to form. Did you have the same issue with new Vallejo Game Color and Xpress?

They are designed for beginners and advance painters to mix less. Each colors are unique. But OF COURSE you can mix the whole day and make 90 colors out of 3 paints. 😅🎨🎨🎨
