Seen him live in Detroit in the early 90's. Jumped over his body guards and hugged him, and kissed him on the cheek. I was tackled. He intervened, and pulled me up. He said to me "you are brave".. I screamed "I love you man!, and you're music inspires me" as tears ran down my face. He looked at me and said "you are brave", and walked away. Wont forget this for the rest of my life.

Jani is a late 80's legend. Probly the best voice in that time. God was he amazing. God could he sing. When I was in Jr high I listen to warrant all the time. He was an amazing gifted singer who could rock out hard and also throw down a balled. I still think about the music he could still be creating and singing at 50 years old if he wouldn't have past away a few years ago. He was just awesome. It's just to bad that alcohol got ahold of him so bad. God he was the best.

I am commenting again today, here in January 2020 - It just hit me.- I remember the interview here on KZbin somewhere with Jani and how ge was the "Cherry Pie Guy" and I understand a little bit better of what he was explaining to us all. - Until today, I have NEVER heard this brilliant masterpiece of musical perfection. - I have realized that the very main reason for this is because I didn't like the "She's My Cherry Pie" stuff EITHER!! - That song totally turned me off of the band Warrant. - I was into playing lead guitar along to my records and learning solos, going to concerts and also jamming in my own rock bands but Warrant was not in my radar - I was into Scorpions, Benatar, Blue Oyster Cult and even our own original material. - The Cherry Pie stuff had simply built a wall that kept me from having an awesome opportunity to enjoy this timeless, brilliant masterpiece of kick ass musical perfection. - Don't get me wrong. - I know that it takes a "hit" like "Cherry Pie" to get your foot in the door and that it's truly a necessity, so no disrespect here. - I'm just saying. - Nevertheless, Jani Lane and Warrant have acquired another loyal fan this day. - Thanks guys. - Ohio. -- ps -- So many beautiful comments here too. 🌐

The label forced him to write a very pop'y song for the album to assure it would sell. He didnt want to do it, but the label calls the shots. The album was to be titled Uncle Toms Cabin, but the label overruled him. Now, the album did sell incredibly well, so the label knew what they were doing. Its a business, first and formost. The band didnt like Cherry Pie much either.

I can't stop myself from watching every video of him but I'm also feeling really upset that I can't get to know more about him except from those flickering clips. I hate the fact that I know Warrant too late. I'm a 17-year-old girl from Hong Kong, my parents and friends don't know them and they would not understand why I'm so blue. It's like losing an old friend. I wish I could know what it's like to be a fan of Warrant in the 80s, what was Jani like? Ooh, it must be magic How inside your eyes I see my destiny Every time we kiss I feel you breathe your love so deep inside of me If the moon and stars should fall They'd be easy to replace I would lift you up to heaven And you would take their place Then I saw red When I opened up the door I saw red My heart just spilled onto the floor And I didn't need to see his face I saw yours I saw red and then I closed the door I don't think I'm gonna love you anymore Every day I wake up I thank God that you are still a part of me We've opened up the door to which So many people never find the key And if the sun should ever fail to send its light We would burn a thousand candles And make everything all righ Then I saw red When I opened up the door I saw red My heart just spilled onto the floor And I didn't need to see his face I saw yours I saw red and then I closed the door I don't think I'm gonna love you anymore I've been hurt and I've been blind I'm not sure that I'll be fine I never thought it would end this way 'Cause I saw red When I opened up the door I saw red My heart just spilled onto the floor And I didn't need to see his face Oh, I saw yours I saw red and then I closed the door I don't think I'm gonna love you anymore

Thank you Jani soo much for this song... I sang the song to my mom as she Lay Dying in her hospital bed, it's the only thing that brought her comfort & relaxed her enough to where she was a little bit more comfortable.... And now that everything has been taken away from me my home & all of my worldly possessions, with nothing to my name I still have this beautiful song & the words that comforted you so... I ❤ you Mom & I'll never forget how great of a mother you were..⚘🥺🥀

During the hair bands this guy is the only one that stood out to me. 1986, That voice always hit me. I always felt he was a tortured soul with his lyrics and his eyes.

Yeah and thanks to Bobby Brown and her big mouth we all know why he was so tortured and drank himself to death! Jani was raped early on in his career by his manager and another bandmate she didn't give the names but I'm sure he told her this in confidence and if he lived I think he would be so humiliated!
