Think about it for a second this guy is worth 70 billion dollars with that kind of money you could buy any house in world and the fact that he's living in a small house like this is pretty humble compared to other billionaires like Mukesh Ambani that literally has a 27 STORY building house in India worth 3 billion dollars...so yea 652k is pretty modest

aeem1 1 You're right, but I said AVERAGE, and there are plenty of expensive homes that bring up the average cost. Also, places that are unusually inexpensive shouldn't be taken into account. Just like how I'm not mentioning places like NY, where a central apartment averages over 1million. Even Canadian cities like Vancouver has an average house price of 1.5m as of 2017, which is 1.2m USD. You can do the research yourself.

I remember we used to live in teacher quarters (which was as big as a vila)and the electricity, maintenance, water bill etc use to cost more than half of my father's salary and we use to feel broke and then a stranger once told my father to live in a small house that would do the job and that's why these billionaire try to spend less

@@jeevankhairkar5316 dude.. you're completely wrong. If you think a billionaire worries about water bills, electric bills and maintenance you are an idiot. Maybe at most they'll spend a few million a year maintaining the house and bills etc but that’s nothing compared to how much they earn. Don’t compare your father's wage to that of a billionaire lol. Unless your father actually is a billionaire. And let’s say you're actually correct, why would those houses be built? If even billionaires can’t afford them why would people want to build them? It would be a huge waste of money. Like seriously, a guy with 1 billion could spend 10k a day maintaining their house and live there for 274 years. They can afford these houses. Which, in a weird way, made me realize that I didn’t want those things in the first place. I just wanted them because at the time they were unattainable. I instead focused my time on a hobby I liked when I was in high school. I get a lot of pleasure and satisfaction from it. The money just frees me up to the other things. To explore. 456inthemix Buffet is just a rare breed that hates spending money. His kids grew up not knowing they were rich. Not because of him trying to hid the greed of money from his kids, but just because they don't spend money. Nothing wrong with "showing off" I mean if you can afford a big house, why not? Lots of perks having one. You can have your own gym, Library, game room, pool, movie theater and so on in the house. Depends if you want that or not. And if they're interested in cars and have the money, how is buying a nice car "showing off?" How is any of it showing off? They worked hard for their money and can buy whatever they want with it. Buffet just hordes his money, which nothing wrong with that either.

My grandparents live in a little smaller house 2 houses down on the same street, my mom would always drive me to my grandparents house on summer break and it wasn't until a few years ago that I learned Warren Buffett lived so close.

Why is a "driveway" with a "gate" leading to a sidewalk and no access to the road? It has grass between the road and the sidewalk. Are his vehicles supposed to drive over the grass to get out on the road?

I would do the same even if I was a millionair. I don't need no fancy house for show. I just need a small home where I feel comfortable and happy in. This guy is living life right. Much respect.

Imagine how rich in memories that house must be, if he's lived there all these decades. The number of people who've come and gone, who won't come anymore, the number of babies whose cries reverberated through the halls and rooms, the many Christmases and Thanksgivings.. I suppose after you reach a point where buying capacity isn't even in the top 10 problems you need to worry about, it becomes increasingly evident to you what really matters in life. Well done, W Buffett.

Certainly something that Buffett can buy many times over, but that’s not an average home. That’s a nice estate in an upper middle to upper class neighborhood in Omaha. Executives, upper managers, successful professionals and business owners are probably his neighbors. On top of the appreciation, he’s never going to have the problem of having a multimillion dollar mansion sitting in the market unsold for years if he or heirs ever decide to sell it.

This is why I like Buffett. Even if I was very wealthy, my primary residence would be my parents old house, the one I grew up in. That is where I would want to live. A very loving home it was...
