We recently sat down with the legendary Warren G for an exclusive “Off The Porch” interview! During our in-depth conversation he talked about life in Long Beach, having to hustle out of high school, witnessing violence, being fortunate that he never went to prison, jumping off the porch when he was 7 years old, Dr. Dre showing him how to DJ, explains how 213 group w/ Snoop Dogg & Nate Dogg was created at VIP Records store, his experienced being in a real studio was with Dr. Dre, getting turned down by labels, Nate Dogg being the first on R&B/Gangsta music, explains how he introduced Snoop to Dre, meeting Kurupt during a battle with Snoop, bringing Kurupt to Suge Knight & Dre, being humble about his contributions, bumping heads with Suge, working on ‘The Chronic’, working with MC Breed that lead to him being introduced to 2Pac, getting the first single on the ‘Poetic Justice’ soundtrack “Indo Smoke”, buying his own equipment with his first rap check, signing to Def Jam, being in New York during the East Coast / West Coast beef, being embraced by a lot of the New York artists, shares the story of recording “Regulate” with Nate Dogg, the song being the first single on the ‘Above The Rim’ soundtrack, working with The Dove Shack, building his own name, producing “Definition Of A Thug N” & “How Long Will They Mourn Me”, for 2Pac, his single “Do You See” still being relevant today, starting his BBQ business Sniffin Griffins BBQ, having multiple streams of income, upcoming plans, reveals he produced multiple unreleased songs for Michael Jackson, and much more!

The reason why Dre met Snoop and the crew. He's a dope producer too and doesn't get a lot of recognition except from hard core fans. Regulate is one of my favorite albums of all time. G-Funk! Where rhythm is life and life is rhythm.

Warren's story is one of overcoming, how he reinvented himself after Suge and Death Row wouldn't fuck with him, and debuted as a soloist at Def Jam to save to company is epic!

@teddystyles2307 The D.O.C. said in the G-Funk era documentary (whatever it is called) that Suge Knight as well as Dr. Dre did not see the value in Warren as a artist who could sell records. Best believe if Dre wanted to sign Warren to Death Row he would have.

Here in Melbourne, Australia - Regulate is by far the most played rap track on Radio. It’s the only rap song I know that still gets played that’s from the early 90’s. The sample where the song comes from is also a great track - Michael McDonald’s I keep forgetting

People have no idea what a great person Warren is. At the height of Regulator in 94, he took the time out of his busy schedule to come all the way to Alabama to our family reunion (Griffins). He had to have taken 200 pics that day and he came back the next year.

This right here nigga!!!!!!! Warren single handedly took part in building and developing the west coast sound and movement. Speaking as a Cali native who was born and raised in Lancaster CA. My momma was a young mother. I know Dogg pound gangsta album verbatim. Military family background . We live 15 min from Edward's Airforce Base. My father is from Long Beach CA. My Nana lived off of a street called East Burnett near cherry 🍒 AVE. Ceaser was a close friend to my father and his family. I'm 39 now

Coolest thing about this (aside from Warren G being the coolest dude ever) is him on the porch dolo.... Probably one of the only interviews on this channel with no homies, cousins, etc, on the porch with the guest haha. Weirdest thing about this interview, and G has mentioned it before, how Dre often ignored him and the distance between them so to speak. How can y'all be stepbrothers on the same path and not take a listen to what your little brother is doing and stuff like that
