This very late but you can tell both Tom Brady and drew brees copied the whole arm angle just shows that warren moon changed the game being African American, undrafted, multiple offenses, heart, cool mentality, and studying. When considered the standard of great qb’s I put Johnny Unitas and warren moon

Watch his hand, he has very large hands and is able to spin the ball and get great/extreme rotation on the ball, this is kind of where his accuracy comes from, you can hear the ball when he threw it
@jyl8185 жыл бұрын
Oddly enough, I thought he did too until checking out the NFL Experience event at Super Bowl XLV in Dallas. They had molds of various QB's: Jim Kelly, Troy Aikman, Warren Moon and maybe a couple of others. Kelly had the biggest hands I've ever seen for someone that wasn't a lineman. Aikman's hands were similar in size but very thick...huge sausage fingers. Moon's hands were slightly smaller than mine. My hand from thumb to pinky is about 9 inches in span and 7.5 inches from base of the palm to fingertip. His hands were just a tad shorter in length but he must have had the longest thumb I've ever seen. I'm convinced that's what gave him such control of the ball. His thumb was AT LEAST one-inch longer than mine...like his thumb may have been the same size as his middle finger.

Very interesting how he flings his left arm down while rotating. Looks like he did a great job of puting weight on the front leg (good base).

Us (golf instructors) call that a ‘reverse C’ - which is an incredibly powerful way to hit a ball (like a passers deep ball, like you mention) but we prefer extension in a stack position (center of shoulders over the center of hips) because of lower back health. Good stuff - thanks again!

Racism...black QB’s weren’t a thing yet cuz GM’s and owners didn’t think black QB’s were smart enough to lead and be successful. Only player to be in both the CFL and NFL Hall of Fames.

Do you know whe he often dropped back like a lefty and then turned around at the apex of his drop to the normal right-handed position??
@Performancelabofcalifornia2 жыл бұрын
Yeah some coaches teach that drop back. We would do that in high school drop back like we were left handed then flip around when throwing..
@Dr_Opal_Winfinger2 жыл бұрын
@@Performancelabofcalifornia Really? Is there a particular basis for / reasoning behind teaching this? I can' imagine it helps with getting the ball out faster since the spin (even if it's a quick one) takes his eyes away from his receivers / the the play in progess and requires a sort of re-calibration once he re-focuses on the progression...
